This motel is a fair distance from the town centre, river and beach - but close to shopping and easy access back to the highway. For our overnight stay it was comfortable, bed and shower good, quiet, good space. Price ok for Ballina. We appreciated the offer of a discount at the nearby sports club though we didn't use it.

The owners were friendly. We booked two rooms for a stay over, a standard room and a family room. Both were neat, clean and tidy. The size of both rooms were generous. We all slept great as the beds were very comfortable (considering I have back issues). I would definitely stay again.

One recommendation would be is to look at changing the shower head as I felt you needed to run around the shower to rinse the shampoo and conditioner out. Trying to do the right thing and shower quickly to save water was not an option, it took twice as long if not more. I did discuss this with the owner the following morning (she was lovely and took the time to chat as she was on her way out). She explained it is a regulation for all hotels to have water saver shower heads. This would not deter me from booking and staying again, just a minor thing.

Friendly staff. Nice large room, comfy bed, very clean ensuite with huge shower about 80cm square. 20 minute walk to CBD, but bowling club quite close. Room key came with a member’s card for discount meals and drinks at the club.

Traffic noise starting 6am. TV quite small about 22”

We live in NSW, we had to travel to Qld for urgent family issues, so we drove as far as we could, and stayed at a different motel on the way up. But I shopped around on the way back, and came across the Colonial. I was so glad that I did, the Colonial way exceeded the previous motel, it was cleaner, more modern and comfortable. The other was quite run down.

A toaster would have helped, but I do understand why it wasn't one. But I am Gluten free, and on the way up, The previous motel had a toaster, but I didn't use it, I thought I would get something, I COULD NOT, so I had no breakfast or lunch, except for the munchies that we packed for travel. But that is not a good breakfast. I always carry my own bread, as it is easier.

The hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had to make an unplanned pit stop in Ballina due to some car trouble. But the lovely couple were so accommodating even helped us change our trailer tyre. Nice comfortable bed clean room and bathroom. No complaints 👌🏽

Loads of space, well appointed motel room. Clean enough and great free Wi-Fi. Discounts on food and drink at the excellent local bowlo.

Probably needs a lick of paint and a slight modernisation. Pool looked like a health hazard.

Had a very comfortable stay. Our room was clean and our bed was comfy. Shower good, too. Stayed two years ago and was just as good as I remembered. Dereck and Jackie are wonderful people. Our air conditioner wasn't working when we got there and Dereck went above and beyond to get it fixed for us. The ceiling fan made the room comfortable enough for us till then. Thank you for making our stay a pleasurable one. Look forward to staying again.

Motel was central to where we had to go,everything was clean and the beds were comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful.

The price of motel accomodation .All of the Ballina motels are overpriced at the moment.The Colonial was one of the cheapest but $280 for one night is ridiculous

The check in bloke was courteous and helpful with local knowledge I was provided a member card for local sports club for discounted food and drink Room was well cleaned, furnished and quality throughout Room price was very satisfactory I recommend this motel very highly

Our flight was cancelled and after having spent quite a bit on the trip, I booked the first cheapest motel I could find. We were not too fussed, however, when we all came to the colonial, not only was it super close to Ballina airport, the local shopping centre, food outlets and the beach it was incredibly clean. This motel was perfect for my family and I wish I had been able to spend more time here.
