The hotel is a check yourself in set up. No staff on site but easy to do. The rooms were spotless, the bed linen and towels were lovely. They have a toaster, kettle, microwave, plates and cutlery in each room. The location is fantastic - straight out of the room onto the Main Street with restaurants, shops and cafes. Despite being so central it was whisper quiet. Aircon in room was fantastic as were the windows for ventilation. If you have mobility issues, be sure to request a ground floor room as the stairs to first floor are quite steep.

Everything! We stayed in the Deluxe Family Room which was absolutely perfect for our stay as we were staying with my 11 year old step son. He loved the fact he had his own separate room with ensuite and temperature control and that we were only an adjoining door away if he needed anything. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious with tea and coffee facilities, toiletries and comfortable (and additional) bedding and with temperature control in both rooms it ensured we had a comfortable stay. Spa bath was an additional and surprising bonus! Communication with the hotel was seamless and easy and we received instructions which were easy to follow prior to arrival. We couldn't recommend Settlers Hotel York enough and is definitely the best accommodation in the area. Rooms are extremely affordable and go above and beyond what we were expecting. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend to our family and friends. Thank you for an amazing stay.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. Check in was seamless and easy and we received confirmation with codes prior to arriving.

The room was lovely and clean and a great size for two adults. Facilities in the room were great, with a microwave, toaster, kettle and some crockery/ cutlery too. I think we may have been upgraded as we had a spa bath in our bathroom also. Didn't use it, but it looked clean and modern. Would definitely stay here again.

There is no reception, you will get send a code to get your key from a lockbox on the day of arrival. Was a little tricky finding my room to start with, but no big deal, figured it out easy enough.

The management is excellent, easy to communicate with, solved problems quickly. We didnt get the room with bathtub as requested but were offered a new room next day and refund for the first night which we really appreciated.

We spent 5 days there and there was no cleaning service at all during our stay, would have appreciated to get it cleaned at least on the third day (vacuum the carpet, change towels, check if running out of something). Towels got pretty dirty and no change and we ran out of toilet paper, had to ask for more when i finally saw staff around. Also it was not easy to wash dirty dishes in the tiny bathroom sink.

Christmas in July - awesome and enjoyed the evening. Meals were so large I was sure I had 4 peoples dinner. The meals were superb so country hotel excellence. We also had the meal we purchased for the next night in the venue room. Again the food was amazing as we ordered a child's meal and thought again we were had a large adults meal. We did ask if they did "mini" meals but apparently not they seemed to think this was a small meal. Lovely staff and a great weekend thank you. We were with the Probus Leeming group.

The banging doors that apparently need to be slammed to shut so bang, bang, bang. Not the hotels problem but the guests must be very heavy handed. But overall not really that much of a problem.

The room allocated to me had a very noisy airconditioning unit, which sounded like a cement mixer, a quick phone call got the room changed immediately. The key box system works very well, you just enter a 4 digit pin into the keypad to access the room key, far more convenient than having to park up, find reception then find your room.

Location signage is poor and difficult to find on any satnav system as the facilities are located behind a hotel sharing a similar name, a quick phone call to the venue sorted it out.

We only met the cleaning staff who were so friendly, nothing was to much trouble for them to assist us when required. The room was fantastic, we will stay there again when in the area.

Was a few sugar ants however i know that the staff are currently doing their best to limit their actions

I liked the style of the room. reminded me of the era it was built. A little cramped but enough for two people. The accommodation was very well placed for walking to almost every facility or attraction.

Refrigerator temperature was not adjustable and froze our food and drinks. Also too small to store much food/drinks. Having to use the bathroom basin to wash dishes was a bit awkward. No dining table meant eating on your lap, this combined with a very soft and small lounge chair (a foam, fold-out single bed) made eating awkward. Inadequate lighting for the main room. Needs a large ceiling lamp.

Good location, decent value.

There was no signage for the Hotel. Though physically located adjacent to Settler's House, they were not impressed when I assumed there was a link, and the "House" staff clearly frustrated many guests thought it was part of the same accommodation. Even after a few days I did not see any signage for the Settlers "HOTEL".

Handy location, clean and comfortable bed. I like the idea that my family in next door and there is a door that connected our rooms. Self check in and key return. So close to the main street, handy to find breakfast next morning. We had a lovely stay.

It's not sound prove, I can hear next door' s noise. Guess that's what most the hotel room like.
