The Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro corresponds perfectly to what we expected. After staying in another hotel a stone's throw from Copacabana beach, we moved to a less touristy area. The structure, in fact, stands within the Barra da Tijuca, a neighborhood in the Zona Oeste of Rio de Janeiro which has been fully developed only in the last three decades. Barra is well known for its natural beauties, namely its eponymous great beach, which is larger and longer than Copacabana and Ipanema, and its lakes as well as several shopping and business centers — but it is also famous for its clubs and its vibrant lifestyle. The hotel is definitely large and architecturally interesting — the interiors are better than the exteriors, though, and the area immediately around the building isn't particularly attractive, as it's modern and a bit nondescript. The main lobby boasts a beautiful and gigantic installation that makes it truly unique, as well as several works of art. The Abelardo Restaurant serves good Brazilian and international cuisine, and just outside there is a lounge area, perfect for relaxing and sipping a drink in good company on a mildly windy night. All rooms are elegant and well designed, equipped with comfortable beds, large windows that give great brightness, and modernly furnished bathrooms — moreover the generous use of boiserie makes the rooms themselves more beautiful and the stay more relaxing and satisfying. On the top floor you can appreciate an excellent view of the entire area, but above all you can enjoy the small lounge bar, the bright and equipped gym and the highlight of the hotel: a large rooftop infinity pool! The staff is just amazing: attentive and generous. A final note on the means of transport: Uber works pretty well in Rio, and the use of both the app and cabs is, among the things to take into account, certainly advisable in this metropolis so fascinating but, alas, so dangerous. Anyway, we will definitely be back in Rio...

The hotel is very close to a very busy road and this is not the best both in terms of noise and pollution. The service is not always impeccable, but this is normal in Brazil. When in Rio...

Clean, big room with a lake view. All the necessary stuff in the room, even ironing board. Spacious closet space for clothes, and modern technology (smart TV, etc). Breakfast is great, a lot of choices of bread and fruit, even a juicer where you can concoct your own vegetable or fruit juice.

The mosquitoes (not part of what the hotel can do, of course, but still it was pretty bad). This hotel is right next to an artificial lake, and if hot, you will be smitten with mosquito bites just by walking by any common area. The only exception where you are safe from mosquitoes is inside of your own room of course (unless you left the door open).

We arrived already at 9am and they offered to check in directly with half price, which was great after the night flight - thank you!! Everything was clean, restaurant for dinner also very good. The gym was at good level too for my purposes.

The shower and bath was not draining off properly and the design beats the function while taking a shower. One thing not connected to the hotel - the driver of yellow taxi we took at the hotel (LUK7G97) wanted to add additional price to taxi meter trying to convince us to pay the fee for motorway.

i give the rate 10 for everything for Cristiano, he is the best recepcionista i have met so far… i have been already travel in 7 continents, & more than 30 countries & he is the best. he understanding, listening & very helpful. he make our stay so special and even we got any problem, he could help us and to solve it all. we have move on many hotel & airbnb during our 3 weeks stay in Rio de janeiro and Hilton Barra is the best of all and i think it really because we have met and check in with Cristiano! i would like to thank him again for everything !! his kindness gave us our happiness back and Loving to stay more in Rio de janeiro !

The room was great, beds were very comfortable and the pool bar was the best place for sunset. The shower had very good pressure as well.

The TV in the room was old, no Netflix available on them. One of the items during breakfast was stale and very dry. The overall atmosphere wasn't great and the staff weren't the most welcoming or helpful, we received much better service in an alternative 4 star hotel

Very good overall experience. The rooms are clean, the breakfast good and abundant and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The location is far from anything apart from the Olympic village, so do count on some 30-40 minutes' drive to get anywhere touristic.

My suite was comfortable and roomy. I particularly liked the view from the balcony (although, unfortunately the weather wasn't the best). The location was convenient for the reason of my stay, so might not be suitable for everyone, but it's easy and quick to reach central Rio via taxi, and it's quieter and more secluded than staying in Copacabana for instance. The hotel is clean and modern and the guy at reception was very friendly! Also, shoutout to the receptionist who woke me up right on time for my taxi to the airport, you are a hero!

Probably the only thing I did not particularly enjoy was the breakfast. But only because I have different tastes, and there weren't many options for me.

Great location, excellent facilities, plenty of breakfast selection, pleasant bar, and outdoor seating area. A special mention to Bittencourt from the reception team. He assisted us throughout our stay, going above and beyond to ensure we had a safe and enjoyable experience.

The temperature of the pool. The weather was hot and pool water warm, not really refreshing

Very family friendly hotel, delicious breakfast and the staff are amazing.

The kids club only worked for few days, no drinks at the room refrigerator, not a big deal but no flip flops or robes either. The hotel is more of a 4 stars I would say. However I would go back as overall we had a nice stay.

Really clean. Nice overall layout. Very spacious and well kept. Pool area is beautiful with great view of Barra. Breakfast staff very helpful.

Long queue at reception and time wasted. They need more receptionists. Breakfast area is really packed, unless you arrive really early.
