Very good location, close to the Manuel Antonio park, almost all rooms have sunrise or sunset view, great pool, spacious rooms. The breakfast was good, as well. Not too many options, but varied from one day to another. Also, the sunset restaurant and the sunset bar are a big attraction for everyone, especially that the restaurant also serves quite good food. Lot of wildlife within the hotel's garden - macaw parrots, monkeys, agouti, sloths and iguanas. They can help with booking tours and a free shuttle to the public beach is available for the quests. Friendly staff.

What can be approved - Definitely, the wifi. For the older rooms, the balcony doors are not well sealed so bugs/insects get through at night. You can solve this with bug spray or an anti-mosquito plug-in device. Additionally, something that might by annoying for the European guests (it was for us) - there is no mobile shower, only a fixed one.

The hotel is located atop a hill, making a wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean. We have some of the most amazing sunset views ever. The breakfast was excellent (the atmosphere, the view, the food, and important to mention: the constant visits of monkeys to disturb the waiters and entertain the tourists). The Mediterranean architecture is beautiful and the oceanfront room was top!

Although the location brings a wonderful view, access to the beach is difficult (the hotel provides a shuttle to Espadilla beach on a timetable, with 4 different hours - to go - and 4 to return). The shower lacks water pressure.

Room was very large and clean, facing the gorgeous Manuel Antonio bay (which we could not enjoy much due to the weather, but that’s not the hotel fault). The hotel is in a unique position and the facility is beautiful, surrounded by nature and animals (a lot of monkeys in the morning) but to be honest we would have expected a little more attentive service given the price.

Breakfast is included but then if you want an espresso or a cappuccino you have to pay them separately, which for the price point of the hotel is ridiculous. Same with welcome drinks, which were non-alcoholic only (it’s a fruit juice, you can’t even choose what you want). They aim to be a fancy hotel but we believed the level of service was not high enough for the price point.

Great view from the room. Great pool. Great breakfast. Great lunch and dinner. Great staff at the dinner restaurant. Great location.

Rude receptionist on arrival told me I could not check in as he was prioritising customers who were checking out. Told me to come back in 1-2hrs to check in. Note that I had paid for this hotel in full, it was not cheap, I was simply trying to check in so I could leave my suitcases at reception and grab a drink or some food by the pool. In my whole life I have never been refused or turned away when trying to check into a hotel. I was shocked. After waiting 1-2hrs I returned to the receptionist only to be told that he was ‘busy’ sorting out some papers, and if I could come back in another hour. What a warm welcome? The room was noisy and lacked proper acoustic insulation, we could hear those above us walking around in their room which was noisy and uncomfortable.

Location (on hilltop) was excellent and provided extraordinary views, cool breezes and easy access to both Manuel Antonio and Quepos. The individual units / rooms provide ample privacy and all have incredible views. Generally, the property is beautiful and very well kept. Amenities overall were excellent, and the professional and courteous staff brought the entire experience together perfectly.

Our particular unit / room (2 beds for a family group of 3) was a bit awkward to manage (but not unmanageable). Other units / rooms would be more appropriate, surely; however, we booked late and we’re lucky to get a room!

The view was incredible and the hotel was close to attractions we were interested in. I loved hearing the howler monkeys from my room and the grounds were absolutely stunning.

La Mariposa was not the best choice for a group of people. It seemed like most of the patrons were couples or families with little tolerance for fun loving friends. The hotel was pretty quiet around dark--which was 6:30 pm.

Beautiful location, amazing view from the room and also from the restaurant. Breakfast was great. The bed was one of the most comfortable (and largest) beds I ever slept in.

Shower had some issues. Had to wait for minutes to have warm water. Also there was only rain shower head, no normal one, which is a problem if you don’t want to wash your hair every day. Also there’s not enough parking space for everyone and sometimes you need to park at the “backup” parking which is further and not really comfortable if there is a tropical shower.

Stunning views and beautiful infinity pool, the sunsets were unreal! Lots of wildlife on the property and wonder macaws and toucans! Staff at the pool bar were the best, remembered us each night which gave a nice personal feel.

The rooms are very tired and in need of a renovation to bring them up to standard, the beds are very hard, some of the rooms do not look like they have been updated in the past 20 years, the rooms near the parking lot in particular are very tired (we asked to change on the second night and at least had a shower which was hot and a slightly less firm bed in the new room). Breakfast buffet was empty when we arrived two mornings at 9am and there were no attempts to replenish quickly which considering breakfast is until 10.30am was rather upsetting.

The view was incredible absolutely LOVED the view especially whilst eating breakfast - which was also delicious! The infinity pools were also stunning. Staff were all very attentive, very friendly and happy people. As soon as we got there the first thing we saw was an Agoutis running across our path and then standing still like a statue! Then 2nd day we also got the delight of a group of capuchin monkeys visiting us for breakfast and trying to come steal our food :) It was a magical place!

The jacuzzi pool did not work (the bubble buttons are broken), we took a sunrise ocean view room and got a garden view where you would have to lean over on the balcony to see any ocean. The hotel said I took the "partial ocean sunrise room" but I checked my booking and no where does it say 'partial view'. This standard room decor very outdated and ugly and for $260 per night is not worth it. BUT the hotel staff very kindly upgraded us for free to a lovely larger room with a kitchenette and beautiful views. So were happy in the end! Thank you to the lovely Luis and his colleague :D

LM is set in the best possible location; fabulous views, with easy access to beaches, buses, bars and restaurants. Two things made the hotel very special indeed - 1. The staff. Alan, Jonathan, Felippe among many. They were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar and catering areas were always pristine and it was clear they keep a tight ship. Wildlife galore to see particularly at dusk far more than we saw in the parks! Everyone gathers excitedly and takes pics. It was breathtaking!

Prices are steep. Understandable as the quality of the produce is high but we found drinks especially very dear. My only concern really was the lack of shade around the pool. With todays skin cancer issues, the hotel need to invest in a dozen sunshades. The pool could use a spruce up as it doesn’t look as gleaming and clean as it could. Loved the experience though.
