This used to be the Shangri-La Hotel, and it took a long time to figure that out as I was making the reservation. You might want to tell people, because that's a selling point. It's a dream of place, Art Deco architecture and features, and everything about it was great. I dreaded the whole Sonder thing of going to a hotel where no one would be working, but there were always people around to ask questions of and get toilet paper or whatever. It was great not having a room key once I remembered the code. Can't wait to go back.

The bathtub was gorgeous but not easy to get in and out of. Anyone with the slightly issue (balance, age, short height) would have a have time. The fixtures were great but getting in not so much.

Location was great - close to many restaurants, shops and beach in beautiful Santa Monica. Swimming pool was good, with plenty of sun loungers near pool, as well as shaded areas.

Bathroom was a good size but could do with an upgrade (eg have a walk-in shower). Also could have more TV channels available (including CNN).

We loved the close proximity to great restaurants and santa monica Pier and the beach, The pool was so lovely, We stayed in room 206, which is a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen, it has a great fridge freezer, The keypad entry is brilliant, I definitely will be staying here.

The sonder would be even better with the pool bar open and a coffee shop in the entrance lounge

no daily cleaning service. at around $500 per night cleaning service would be appreciated. also at this high rate even a light breakfast would be nice.

location great and lovely vintage feel. bed was very comfortable and quiet.

the pool and jacuzzi were broken and only repaired the day we were leaving. would also be nice to have the room cleaned.

The friendliness of the night and day staff. The ease of check-in. The exceptional location, the sea views, the rooftop bar, the pool side area, the renovation standards, the art deco style, the minimalism, the shower cubicle and cosmetics,

Would prefer nicer sheets, pillows and quilt or summer duvet.

The location and room ware perfect.

I highly recommend this hotel unless you have a car and need to pay for the parking. The hotel details on Booking.com is not clear. Not that 'Privet Parking' means paid parking @$50 per night. This was almost 50% of the room price per night.

location is fantastic

the only thing was that they forgot to leave toilet paper ( once the roll that was in use finished we couldn’t find another one to replace it) and there was no duvet and pillows for the sofa bed but once I requested boa the app, they brought it straight way.

Amazing location, right across from the ocean! we went on morning walks down the beach and Santa Monica pier, and walked to dinner on the 3rd street promenade. Sonder renovated the property throughout and our room was spacious and clean. The pool was a big plus too

The location and the size of the room was great.

The lack of counters and general storage in the bathroom. The lack of lighting in the bathroom. It was a spacious room but a very poor use of space. There were no garbage cans in the main rooms. Only the bathroom had one.
