Breakfast is simple but nice. Staff are very friendly and polite. Perfect location close to restaurants.

Parking is outdoors and super small it has space for 5 cars and you have to book. We couldn’t park there since there were other reservations before us made. So we went to an underground parking nearby 10 min walking distance. There is another one open air closer to the hotel 5 min walk. If you stay in the extended new part of the hotel there is no elevator so be careful if you have a lot of luggage it can be a pain. One of the girls at reception was super kind and helped us with the luggage until the room.

We requested a room near to lift due to mobility issues and were given a wonderful room with extra large bathroom and shower. The room was fantastic. The hotel location was superb. Only a minutes walk from the restaurants and cafes and the historic sights. The staff went above and beyond expectations with particular thanks to Caroline who welcomed us to the hotel and assisted us with getting into the car park. And Alexandra who couldn’t do enough for us and even parked and charged my EV for me. He also recommended some restaurants which were superb. We will visit again.

The hotel location is ideal and in a really nice area close to lovely restaurants etc. While the comfort room was quite small, it had everything and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was really lovely with lots of homemade and local options and the breakfast staff were really nice. Reception were really helpful and they noted that it was really difficult to get a taxi in La Rochelle so we appreciate them ordering one for us in advance of departure.

The only odd thing was being asked if we'd like to tip the staff while we were checking out with the card machine options posed to us. We had left a cash tip in our room but were told that was only for the cleaners (which we assumed). I've never been asked to tip at a hotel in France (or anywhere else in fact) and found this very strange. There was also a tip jar on the counter the morning we arrived but I didn't notice this upon checking out.

A great base for wandering around La Rochelle. The hotel is a quirky and stylish boutique hotel. The staff are absolutely wonderful - they can't do enough to help and give their advice. Breakfast is truly a feast. I'd stay there again in a heart beat. The area is home to many wonderful restaurants. I really rate Ginger on rue de la Chaine. Stay away from the ones right on the old port - they fall into the classic tourist trap category. Plentiful car parking in the car park just to the South of the Hotel. We left our hire car there for 3 days - the total cost was around €33. Not bad considering.

Location was brilliant. Staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble,friendly,professional, knowledgeable &extremely helpful. The hotel was quirky with great light fittings & “Phillips Stark” furnishings here & there. Relaxing,Jasmin scented garden space.

Whilst the staff were happy to get you a drink etc there wasn’t an actual bar but it didn’t spoil our stay. The rooms whilst very modern & comfortable,there were no drawers !!! Only shelves. Again it didn’t spoil our stay.

The staff were so welcoming the moment we walked through the door. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was superbly comfortable and cleaned thoroughly every day. I last stayed at the hotel 25 years ago and we certainly won't leave it that long again before we return. Thoroughly recommend.

Parking is not easy. Hotel has 5 outdoor parking places and you have to book with a lot of anticipation. Public parkings are available nearby 5-10min walking distance and aren’t expensive. In case you stay in the extended new part of the hotel it doesn’t have elevator so be careful bringing many bags.

The hotel was situated in quiet area but close to restaurants and beach .It had a nice quiet garden which we sat in often . The breakfast was excellent . The best of this type that we have experienced . Excellent coffee .The room was spotlessly clean . We were there for 5 days and got a complimentary bottle of Pineau

No complaints as we travelled by train . Parking might have been a problem had we had a car .

We stayed at Hotel La Monnaie in Rochelle for 2 nights in August 2023 on our way down to Bordeaux. It's located within easy walking distance of the beach, the local park, all the main eateries and the stunning old port area. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with a stylish interior, unique artwork and great facilities. All the staff were super friendly and helpful from arranging a parking space, providing a map of the local area and excellent guidance on the main tourist attractions, recommending places to eat and booking restaurants for us. They also replaced the broken safe in our room within a couple of hours of reporting it. The hotel has a private car park and you need to book in advance, however, there is also a public car park within 5 minutes walking distance. The spa was closed for refurbishment whilst we were there (but we were advised of this in advance) so unable to comment. There was a great choice of both hot and cold food at breakfast - you can eat inside or in their beautiful courtyard. Would highly recommend if you're planning a trip to La Rochelle. The location. And decor was nice but very stuffy room

Our room was on the ground floor and our window opened directly onto a garden seating area which meant we could not open our window for the stay as people were looking in. Extremely warm in the room and air con could not be adjusted. Had a massage. 70 for half an hour which the first ten mins were just touching head and feet no massage. Very expensive
