The couple who ran the place were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make their guests feel welcome. They texted me earlier in the day to arrange the evening meal which was round a communal table outside under the trees. Did not expect such a great atmosphere and social experience for budget price.

Nothing I didn't like. Was a fairly basic accommodation but as the example of the communal table experience showed, this added to the experience. Ticked all the boxes for what we needed.

The accommodation often hosts cyclists so they know what to expect and there is a dedicated garage area for storing bikes, and even has a workstand if you need to do some maintenance on your bike. Meals for breakfast and dinner are offered if you don't want to make the trip into town. Good value accommodation compared with those in the town proper. That said, whilst walking into town is doable you are much better off with a bike or car.

Cycling shoes are not allowed within the accommodation so it's worth having a pair of sandals or similar slip-on shoes if you don't want to be constantly changing shoes. During my stay there was a rooster in the yard adjacent to my room, I didn't have any trouble sleeping despite this but if you prefer to sleep with the window open it could be more noticeable.

Some basic kitchen facilities to prepare our own food would have been useful, eg when arriving late after evening meal time and the restaurants are closed and no drying facilities

It's a friendly place in a small village outside Bourg d'Oisans. Really gives the feeling of home away from home. I recommend taking the meals as well - both for the food, and for the communal dinner experience.

Nothing. If you're without car, take into account that it's a half-hour walk to the "center".

Very calm, pleasant Gite de Sejour. Excellent value for Bourg d'oisans in August. Nice staff also. Plain, but good. Walk into town about 25min, very quiet road by river. Lots of hikers so don't count on a lie in!

Breakfast and dinner were very good. The hotel is a bit like a good quality youth hostel, attracting many walkers and cyclists, so a communal dinner outside at a long table was a nice feature.

Friendly staff, clean room and facilities. Fabulous dinner. Lovely garden and outdoor eating. Grateful that they stored a small bag for us.

I liked that it was clean, close to everything, had a nice outside area, and a very helpful and friendly staff.

There was not a lot of room to move around the beds and in the WC.

Very calm and clean guest house with friendly hosting. You can also book meals upon request. Perfect location for starting or ending the famous Tour des Ecrins

Nice garden surrounded by high mountains. Very clean accommodation: room, toilets and showers. Very nice staff. Correct breakfast with diferent tapes of bread, salami, cheese, honey, jam, cereals… We did not try the dinner but we read it was good. Parking for the car.
