The name. In the centre of France, on the roof of the world, Hotel de la Plage. When I arrived, guests were embarking on a fishing trip. Curiously interesting but it is surviving, no, thriving 90 years after it was established. A hidden jewel well worth making a detour towards if you find yourself even 50km away.

I can assure you, there is nothing not to like about this hotel. I was travelling, but I could have delayed my return home to stay longer here. The owner takes great pride in design and decor during the winter months so all clients can benefit from her modern creature comforts. Her work is astounding.

It is a lovely property overlooking the river called Lignon. There is parking on the premise. It is walking distance to the main street. Nature around is very lush.

The lady manager was not the friendliest, but breakfast was prepared on time with very fresh baguette!

Hard to find but once here superb. Great helpful check in, garage for motorcycles , excellent wi fi and easy walk to centre for dinner. Breakfast good and property in first rate order, recently refurbished to a high standard and very comfortable.

Hard to say , not much could have been better, very happy , good place to stay.

Hard to navigate with a car; staff inaccessible at times. But very helpful when there.

Beautiful small hotel well maintained

Great building and location. the owners kindly let me park my motorcycle in their garage overnight. breakfast was lovely with homemade preserves and yogurt.

Very nice small hotel in Le Chambon with tons of personality. The room was super clean, breakfast fabulous and our hosts were helpful and charming. I highly recommend this place.

The shower was a bit small so a bit difficult for a big guy but a very minor thing

We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the peace and quiet, not to mention the great touring location in the middle of the glorious Ardeche. To lie in bed and hear the River Lignon bustling down the valley is very calming. The hotel enjoys a lovely view both from the terrace and the bedrooms of both the valley and the fortifications around the old town on the hill above and it is very close to the centre of the little town for refreshment and dining. The bedroom we had was more than a little tight on space and lacking much in the way of storage. It and the bathroom were commendibly clean, if a bit dated, and there was lots of hot water. The public rooms were well decorated and the sunny breakfast room offered a somewhat better choice than is usual. There was a choice of breads and pastries, fresh boiled eggs, cheeses and charcouterie, cereals etc. The owners were perfectly polite,a nd the welcome correct. Would I recommend Hotel La Plage? The 'Hotel' classification is a little grand. This is a good, simple Bed & Breakfast. When I say that the room was far from generous, the bathroom was about the size of a telephone kiosk. It was impossible to open the shower door without stepping back into the bedroom. It brought a whole new meaning to the word 'compact'! After a couple of nights this became irritating.
