It's worth asking for a room with a view of the Seine, which is so beautiful. Our room was the nicest I have ever stayed in, with delightful decor. We loved the meals in the gorgeous dining room. In October Les Andelys is very quiet, so we enjoyed the peacefulness and beauty of the village, with its ancient castle.

If you arrive by train, getting around is a problem; you really need to have a car. Also, I wonder if the Chaine d'Or restaurant might be losing custom because the menu boards outside contradict each other - one says that the Menu du Marché is available in the evening, while the other says that it is only available at lunchtime.

We loved- 1. The view of the Seine from our room 2. Talking to Stephanie and Olivier and their young adult children who help them in the restaurant 3. Eating an amazing meal prepared by Chef Stephanie on the terrace. 4. The overall service and attention of the staff. 5. Very well run inn in an amazing historic structure. 6. The room was comfortable and had fun accents on the pillows of scenes from the Bayeaux Tapestry.

The unusually hot temperatures in early September. A fan in our room would have been helpful.

The situation was beautiful, right on the Seine. The hotel was well-maintained and the morning staff excellent. Nice to have a bath with both hot water and a plug. The 38€ menu was reasonably good value. The sunset over the Seine was gorgeous.

The main door was shut on arrival and did not have a sign to redirect you via the courtyard. The Booking.com price was €20 more than the room price at the hotel. The service at what prides itself as a "fine dining" restaurant was simply too informal and inexperienced.

The hotel is in a wonderful building on the banks of the River Seine. There is a restaurant with an excellent menu. Breakfast was also good. I had a problem with a leak in my bathroom. My room was changed quickly and without fuss. I hope to return.

My old legs struggled with some of the stairs. Help was on hand to help with luggage, however.

The location is lovely on the north bank of the Seine. There is a quay for the river cruise boats, which stop by for their passengers to get of a tour the region. We hired cycles for a ride along the river path towards St Pierre-du-Vauvray

We were disappointed to be charged $30 for a breakfast we didn't actually eat, just because we had said the night before we would have breakfast. If you change your mind at this hotel you clearly need to tell them or you will be charged.

Breakfast was good. Would have liked more variety but this was probably limited as few guests were staying.

Very bad weather while we were staying. Not something the hotel could do anything about! December seems to be a poor time for choice in rural France - restaurants closed etc.

The hotel building, location and views of the Seine were amazing. The hotel was characterful and old fashioned in a good way. Our bedroom (Richard Coeur de Lion) was huge and was as if it was in a chateau. This was way better than in a bland modern hotel. Bed huge and comfy. Excellent food including breakfast. We took one evening meal there which was superb. Fascinating watching the boats passing along the Seine. Notwithstanding the boats it was really quiet and peaceful in the historic Les Andelys. Great base for visiting Rouen and Giverny.

Toilet could have done with a coat of paint and towels a bit tatty. Bath not most accessible. Ok for us though. Wifi intermittent. Bottled water in room would be good.

It is a beautiful boutique hotel in a wonderful location. Breakfast buffet had a good variety of options in a lovely breakfast room. It was delightful to eat breakfast while looking out over the Seine. We also had dinner at the hotel the evening we arrived. Delicious meal; excellent service. We enjoyed watching the boat traffic on the river from our bedroom windows and took advantage of the riverside path to get in a couple of walks.

On arrival our room was very hot. The hotel has a strong environmental sustainability program so we understand the lack of air conditioning; however, it would have been much more comfortable if they kept the drapes drawn during the daytime when the temperature was over 30 C.

Beautiful converted characterful river toll building in half timbered Petit Andelys in the shadow of Chateau Gaillard. Courtyard parking, charming dining and breakfast rooms overlooking the Seine. Excellent dinners (good wine list, good selection of half bottles) and ample continental breakfasts. Rooms clean and comfortable, with river, courtyard or church views (latter often with a grandstand view of weddings on Saturdays). Owners and staff friendly and courteous. Excellent base for Vernon, Rouen, Lyons La Foret.

A return visit after twenty years. Beautiful position on the banks of the Seine. Booked the evening meal and breakfast offer. Delicious food and wine in a perfect setting. Very welcoming to our dog. Lovely comfortable room.

It was a shame we couldn’t check in until 5 but we knew that when we booked we would have loved to spend more time here.
