October 2023

On arriving at the apartment we were greeted by the owner who was pleasant and provided instructions regarding both entering and leaving the premises by car. The apartment was spacious with a well equipped kitchen with everything required, including a medium sized fridge. The bathroom was modern with both a hand set and large shower head. Parking was free, secure and provided inside the grounds of the property. The first night of our stay in Marseille, we found a Supermarket just around the corner from our Villa which was well stocked, providing us with all our essential needs. That evening, we walked up the street and selected an Up Tempo Restaurant, called “ Bar Amis “ which was pleasant and buzzing with activity. We ordered a large Arancini Ball between us which was delicious together with a bottle of French Roussanne . . . also delicious !!!

The water pressure was very low, providing only a fine spray of water in the shower. There was a swimming pool which was maintained at a moderate temp. though contained green algae. That night, the rain was horrendous, making sleeping difficult, mainly due to the Drip, Drip . . . Dripping noise outside our villa. One of the few negatives, apart from the green algae in the pool and the height of the surrounding grass . . . was the irritating, grating sound caused by the legs of the four chairs when moved in the kitchen. Rating: 8/10

The breakfasts were a real treat every morning with fresh croissant, orange juice and coffee. The gardens and pool area are beautifully kept and the hosts are always helpful and welcoming. There are many different eateries and bars as well as family beaches to enjoy. Marseille old port is easily reached via the ferry which is also close to the hotel. We visited Avignon, Cassis and Aix as well as a cycling tour around Les Calanques . A great place to stay for a relaxing and fascinating holiday in the south of France without the cost of Nice or Cannes.

An absolute gem of a find in Marseille - the hosts were very lovely and accommodating (despite my lack of French to say the least, sorry!). The place itself is absolutely stunning, very well maintained, the garden being particularly serene. A particular highlight was the breakfast in the morning, honestly I could have stayed at Villa Valflor for a very long period of time! Only regret is only staying 4 nights.

Josiane Bages and her husband were very welcoming and provided good ideas for site seeing and how to travel via a ferry close by as well as arranged a reservation at a nice restaurant around the corner. They upgraded our room to accommodate a person with special needs who did not want to change rooms. Both rooms were very nice! There’s a beach near the ferry and a park one block away. We could see the sea from our 2nd story balcony and room. Our stay was exceptional and we hope to return in the future!

Great villa, beautiful old house with large room and pool. We were able to park on-site for free which was great. The breakfast was very nice sitting out on the patio. The hosts were lovely very kind. We walked to beach to eat dinner which was nice. Not super close to town centre, if don’t have a car can hire a bike or scooter and ride along the coast to the port. If you want something different from a standard hotel, this Villa is perfect. (And we had air conditioning!! ).

an absolutely stunning property with a fab location being next to pointe rouge port, that allows easy access via boat between Marseille and les Goudes. The owners are utterly charming and provide a gorgeous continental breakfast; as well as a beautiful bar where you can enjoy wine in the garden. It was truly wonderful.

A lovely and welcoming couple of owners. Their English is limited but enough to communicate OK. Beautiful , old property with character and with small number of rooms. Aircon and wifi worked well. Bathroom large and well equipped. Able to store luggage there on last day. Breakfast is continental and fresh. Best facility is the garden and pool, really quiet and relaxing with beautiful landscaping and plenty of shade available. beach a short stroll away;

The location is a long way outside Marseilles city and costs approx 20 Euros one way in Uber if you are without a car. Bus required changes. Apart from 1 small restaurant in a side street which was excellent, the eating opportunities are good quality but situated on a busy , noisy main road. Not a all the owners fault but perhaps not an ideal hotel if everything you want to do is in the city itself

We were visiting for the Olympic sailing 2024 so the location was ideal for us We went to Marseille on the bus which was a couple of buses or you could take a taxi The lady and gentleman were very helpful. The air conditioning in the room was excellent and the pool and grounds perfect

Everything about the villa was amazing. We were welcomed extremely well by the owners of the villa , explaining to us the way around, and how the villa could be used to our best interest. The terrace room we booked was unbelievable exceeding expectations on size, along with the incredible views of both mountains and the sea! The garden was also beautiful, with it being extremely peaceful and quiet at all points of the day. Starting from breakfast until we went to bed. The breakfast was served at a good time in the morning as well not rushing you to get out of bed and it was excellent along with the lovely traditional service. I would 100% recommend this villa to anyone else thinking of Visiting(also a 5 minute walk from the beach with superb restaurants surrounding it)

We stayed 5 nights in the smallest room but it was plenty big and airy enough with a large bathroom. The house is like a small old chateau and has been in the family for generations- lots of antique furniture etc. The couple who own and run the hotel only speak limited English but are very friendly and helpful. breakfast is continental and there are drink making facilities in your room. The highlight is the wonderful garden and pool where you will want to spend all your time! Only steps to the beach and lots of restaurants nearby. Recommend le Petit Jardin the most, 1 street away

The house is not in central Marseille and there is not a direct bus route. I believe there may be a boat but we didn't find it. We took Ubers which ended up quite pricey . The coast and beaches are steps away but offer no shade unless you pay 20 Euros each a day to lie on a grubby bed with an umbrella and very loud club music. Not at all the fault of Villa Valflor but useful to know!
