L'Esprit du 8 is excellently located in the heart of Rochefort so that you can do everything on foot. It has been renovated in a really tasteful and interesting style, with a lot of thought given to details which give it real character. Our room was large and very comfortable and also quiet despite being on the street side of the building. Sandrine and Pascal were really welcoming and they create a very relaxed atmosphere - it felt almost like staying with friends - whilst still being very professional. We had problems with our car while we were there and they went out of the way to help us sort things out. Breakfast was excellent with different types of local cakes and pastries to try each day and there were also good quality tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

Nothing at all

The location of the large property was ideal and the attentiveness of the hosts, Sandrine and Pascal, second to none. Nothing was too much trouble and they enhanced our enjoyment of the area which was new to us. Clearly they take pride in their home and the historic nature of the building. The garden and pool were lovely to return to each evening. Breakfast was excellent and just what we needed.

Everything exceeded expectations.

Sandrine and Pascal are the kindest hosts. Beautifully decorated and styled Boutique type hotel. Fantastic breakfast which we had in the garden. Easy Parking on their own premises, EV charging facilities at walking distance. Both fast charging at 35KW and 22KW. The hotel is very centrally located and nice restaurants are just a few minutes walking away. Ile D’Oleron and Fouras a short drive by car with their beautiful beaches.

No airconditioning.

A beautifully restored public building, repurposed as a bespoke guest house. Lovely period features and an Art Deco theme with lots of interesting touches throughout the house. Off road, private parking, a tranquil walled garden with swimming pool and easy walking distance to all Rouen’s amenities. The owners, Pascal and Sandrine were very welcoming and attentive and were able to offer ideas for dining out and sightseeing during our stay.

Be aware that the signage for the property is very discreet, but Google Maps took us to the door - it’s just not obvious.

We spent a night at L'Esprit du 8 on our way to Northern Spain and received a warm and friendly welcome from our hosts Sandrine and Pascal, who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and interesting. The property is cool and spacious with its own interesting history, and the lovely garden was the perfect place for our generous breakfast the following morning. Sandrine and Pascal sent us an online guide to Rochefort before our arrival which was a nice touch and extremely helpful for us, allowing us to book a restaurant for dinner in advance. L'Esprit du 8 is a gem - we were sorry our stay was so short and would love to return. Sincere thanks to Sandrine and Pascal!

Close to the town. Lovely comfortable room, very spacious with a good size bed and bathroom. There is a little fridge downstairs with drinks you can help yourself too and write down what you have taken for billing which isnt mentioned but we thought was lovely. Breakfast is great. The owner loves his cars so lots to talk about with my husband, overall very accommodating and plenty of good recommendations in the local area.

To qualify we have stayed in hotels across the world and in France in particular - we are not new to hotels. The entire experience of D'Esprit du 8 was unsurpassed as Pascal and Sandrine take extra steps to ensure comfort and happiness with a stay there. The rooms are fascinating and interesting, assisted by their passion for furniture and objet d'art. But without being overpowering, just a great quality of hotel. Only once before in our lives have we returned again to the same hotel but if we are ever seeking accommodation on the west coast of France, we shall be booking there.

Nothing is perfect but L'Esprit du 8 comes damn close as a hotel.

The very warm welcome from Pascal and Sandrine who were excellent hosts and have a beautiful home we had a spacious room designed by the couple, a very comfortable bed with quality linen breakfast was delicious and my wife was very well provided for with gluten free options the waffles were a real treat Pascal and Sandrine could not do enough to make us welcome in there home easily the nicest accommodation we have stayed in in france and we have visited regularly and extensively over the past 20 years

There was nothing that wasnt to our satisfaction

So many things - the warm welcome from hosts Sandrine & Pascal, safe off street parking, our beautiful designer bedroom, the decor of the entire building sympathetically curated to fit in with its history, fabulous breakfast and beautiful garden and pool.

We’ve just got married and are taking a mini moon through France. We have a large ranger rover, towing a trailer. The roads in the towns are small with tight parking but the owners of L,esprit did everything they could to help us get comfortable. Greeting us late in the evening and helping to park the car and the trailer. The next day we were up a little later as we have a baby and thought we had missed lunch but the hosts insisted we stay and made us breakfast even though we had missed the time.
