Hosts were super nice and attentive. Happy to help us with recommendations on things to do. Breakfast was good with bread, croissants, several pastries, yogurt, marmalades, cheese and fruits. Coffee, tea, orange juice also provided. This is an old castle converted into residence with 5 rooms rented for guests as Bed and Breakfast. We had the Louise de Savoie room, which is very large on the upper floor and it has a nice terrace (I believe the only room with a balcony/terrace). We stayed for four nights. We enjoyed to sit at the terrace every time we could. The B&B (traditional style), is made in a way where things are meant to be old and look old. If that is not your thing, look elsewhere. I think the owners are taking good care of the property, to the extent possible. The property truly transports you to an older age. There are no elevators so you have to walk 4 flights of floors to the upper rooms, but that was fine by us. Location was great, Valensole is in the middle of lavender fields, so it was nice to enjoy them even when that was not the purpose for the day. The B&B is located just outside 300 mts or so from the main plaza, so it was easy to walk back and forth if we needed to go to the center. Besides breakfast, no other food options are offered onsite, but you can walk to decent restaurants nearby. We were there early July, with temperatures reaching 30 Celsius on daytime. Despite that, there was nice breeze that crossed the room (leaving door of terrace and window open), that cooled down the room nicely, allowing us to sleep well.

Since the rooms are not serviced, maybe add more toilet paper/soaps without asking. We asked and received them right away. Besides tea and powder coffee (in the rooms), -and of course, the breakfast-, there is nothing else for purchase in the B&B. I guess they used to have a tea room that doesn't work anymore. We would have enjoyed to have something that we could purchase to snack on in the afternoons without us requiring to leave the hotel. Maybe difficult to change, but my husband found the shower very tight -prefab shell shaped shower cub. But this may be a consideration for guests if they are larger and may find the shower uncomfortable.

From start to finish it was picture perfect and quintessentially Provencale. When you drive over the bridge into the village of Valensole and this stunning property greets you, horses roaming in the fields below and beautifully manicured gardens, you instantly relax and feel at home. Monsieur and Madame greet you with a welcoming smile and are clearly incredibly proud of their wonderful chambres d'hôtes steeped in history. We stayed in the Louis suite on the top floor with terrace and incredible views over the local village and Provence countryside and feels like you have gone back in time. If ever in the area this is a must stay, we will be back.

This was an absolute highlight of our extensive tour of France! A classical French château with exquisite antique furnishings, a truly amazing location in Valensole - especially if the lavender are in bloom but at any time really! The proprietors are the most beautiful people who are genuinely there to make your stay memorable. The breakfast was an incredible array of homemade French classics!

We loved our stay at the Chateau. Jacques and his wife were incredibly accommodating and wonderful hosts. They gave us tips on what to do, where to eat, and even some history on the property and the town. We enjoyed ourselves greatly! The breakfast was lovely and served in the formal dining room with other guests. Jacques played his daughter’s CD (professional celloist) while we ate.

It’s an old home with antiques in it. So don’t go expecting modern features and amenities like a television. It’s got old-world charm which makes it so special!

The château is beautiful with attention to detail to maintain it’s history. Gorgeous gardens and a place to park. A bar and restaurant nearby if you are needing an evening meal. The host is very accommodating and very proud of their home. Comfortable bed, beautifully decorated room. Breakfast was served in the dining room and included delicious homemade jams and cakes. We really enjoyed our stay.

What a wonderful find. A glorious Chateau with secure gated parking in its own grounds - lovingly restored by its current owners in grand style. Wonderfully comfortable bed in a suite of rooms, beautiful surrounds and a delicious breakfast. The gardens were a joy and sitting in the cool listening to the trickle of water from the fountain and the croak of a toad in the pond was a perfect place to relax on a hot afternoon. Easy walk to the town where there was a choice of restaurants.

- very friendly staff taking time for you individually to explain the history of the chateau and things you can do in this area - you feel taken back in time due to the interior of the chateau - beautiful garden - there was a very good fan in the room so we were not too warm - the surrounding village is very cute and has a lot of different shops, restaurants and a boulagerie

- the breakfast could have more variety (esp.when you have some intolerances)

This is a remarkable Chateau that maintains its sense of history and place in every detail - a unique experience that more than lives up to the expectation of staying at a castle. My wife and I stayed at the terrace suite and loved sitting on the balcony reading, drinking wine, and looking out at the lovely village. The property is bursting with historical flair and the owners do an excellent job of keeping up the grounds for it being a family affair. If you are looking for the modern stock hotel amenities to enjoy your stay, you may do better at another location. No minifridge, AC, room service etc. are provided, but the tradeoff is that the pricepoint is affordable as opposed to a Chateau run by a larger hotel group would be double or more the price. In my opinion, the romance and unique experience of the castle were worth the tradeoff for these modern comforts and we didn't miss them much. Even during the peak of the July heatwave we found the room comfortable at night for sleeping (during the day it was hot, as is to be expected in place without AC). We also came out of season for lavendar but the host informed us of wonderful daytrips in the region that were a delight.

Everything was absolutely amazing! We particularly enjoyed our spacious suite with its grand Terrasse and amazing views. Beds were super comfortable and breakfast was good. The historical character of the Château is one of a kind and probably the best place we ever stayed in!! Highly recommend!

Be aware that there is no airconditioning, which could make nights quite hot during summer. Also, we would‘ve enjoyed to have our beds made every day.

We loved the charm of the Château du Grand Jardin. The owner was incredibly sweet and helpful. He gave us great recommendations and was very friendly.

We went after peak season so many of the restaurants in Valensole were closed.
