The view from our room was very pretty. The Roof Hotel manages to be both modern and have character. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We used room service for one evening meal and breakfasts on 4 days. The service was excellent.

The hotel attracts a young, sometimes noisy, crowd at weekends. Not that we were in any way bothered by them. I wasn't very impressed by the restaurant, though my husband enjoyed the meals he had.

Lovely location on an island close to Vannes. Lots of places to walk in nature nearby. Lovely bar area in the garden overlooking the estuary and beach, lovely place to enjoy a drink in the sun. Restaurant was fully booked the night we stayed but they booked us a table in the restaurant opposite which was lovely (excellent mussels). Staff were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. 10 minute drive from the Center of Vannes but plenty of parking there and well worth a visit

The bed was comfortable The view was nice, but not worth the extra cost (lateral view). The breakfast was copious, but as the hotel was fully booked it was a shame they didn't have more staff working at breakfast to clear the tables etc because many tables for 2 were not available when we arrived and we got funny looks taking a table for 4! Bar drinks are incredibly expensive, and the cloth that the barman used to clean our table stunk to high heavens, not very hygenic! No crisps or little snacks to purchase to have with your drinks. Good hotel and interesting location but too expensive.

No ventilation system and in the room it was very, very hot. There didn't seem to be much of a sea-breeze enough to cool the room with the windows open.

The location of the hotel is superb - the first thing we did was sit with a beer at a table on the patio overlooking the water and boats. The hotel has secure parking including shade for several of the bays. Our room had a balcony and was a good size. Room came with a minibar and kettle. Although the hotel restaurant was fully booked, reception made a booking for us at an adjacent restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

This hotel was a real 'find'! The location is truly lovely right by the sea/harbour. The hotel itself is spacious, quiet and the rooms are large and very comfortable. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble.

Our only gripe was nothing to do with the hotel or the location. We had hoped to swim in the sea, there are several beaches. Although a lot of people were swimming, the water appeared dirty and unsuitable for bathing. Perhaps we are just fussy, but nothing would have persuaded us to venture in!

V good breakfast buffet. Excellent food. Brilliant position by sea.

It desperately needs air conditioning in the west sea view bedrooms. Temperatures in recent heatwave were overwhelming and no breeze to cool rooms. The balconies also need sun umbrellas so that one can sit outside in the sun.

The restaurant is really not great! They change their menu every week, meaning same choice for seven days! Seafood is good, the rest looks good but tastes bland and completely underwhelming! Could do better. Breakfast is good though

This hotel is in a beautiful location with ample car parking spaces. Although not within walking distance of Vannes town centre, the local bus runs from immediately outside the hotel and the receptionist kindly supplied us with timetable details - such a pleasure to leave the car and enjoy a ride to the centre without worrying about finding parking! The grounds run down to the water's edge and we enjoyed a welcome drink on the lovely terrace each day. Similarly, the large restaurant overlooks the water as well. Our room was spotlessly clean with tea and coffee making facilities and a small balcony where we enjoyed an early morning cuppa while soaking up the view. Comfortable bathroom with bath and powerful shower - all you could require. There is also a safe and plenty of wardrobe space. We dined in the restaurant each evening and the food was varied and excellent. Breakfast was also substantial and varied with a hot option of eggs, bacon and sausages. Would definitely return.

There was nothing to dislike other than, like most establishments in the hospitality industry, there were obvious staffing issues. This will no doubt be resolved as things continue to get back to normal

No air conditioning , but I understand this coming over the winter. Reception staff were very pushy to book a table for dinner, I was told a week before that they were very busy and nearly full, this did not appear to be the case on the evening. There are some nice places nearby, I’d recommend looking at those before you commit yourself.

The position is exceptional….our room looking over the garden out to the water was very uplifting .The Brasserie was ok the breakfasts had a great choice . Great to have kettle and coffee machine

The room was rather small….we had an extra large bed , and balcony big enough for 2 chairs , no air con and it was hot. Access to the bathroom had to be negotiated ….Rather expensive but a memorable stay .
