We would highly recommend this lovely, family run hotel in the most beautiful setting in the Black Forest. Perfect to access spectacular landscapes and hiking trails in the nearby National Park areas. The spa facilities are very good and we had a thoroughly relaxing winter holiday. The food is also exceptional - it is delicious and varied and really reflects the regional cuisine while also catering for vegan diet if preferred. Breakfast, lunch buffet, and 4 course dinner were all a highlight of our trip and good value too. The room was spacious but cosy with a lovely large balcony too.
The only thing we would change to make the stay a 10/10 is the comfiness of the beds. The mattresses were soft enough but not as supportive as we would like. We also had two single beds put together to make a double but they moved across the floor so that the gap kept widening.

Excellent size of the room, clean bathroom, sufficient amount of towels
Unreasonable openings hours of sauna facilities . Saunas are working from 2pm till 8 pm, while you have to check out by 11 am. If you arrive after 20:00 then no sauna nor swimming pool are available. This is a huge inconvenience, unless management of the hotel prefers not to treat it’s customers at fullest

Lovely place in the middle of the woods. Great nature around and a great place to relax. They have a wellness center with plenty of options that we unfortunately could not try because of time constraints, but they had accessible prices. A place to come back.
A little bit hot at night, but once you open the window it gets better.

Wonderful and quaint hotel that offers a pool and excellent breakfast buffet. The staff was kind and helpful. I highly recommend the Holtzschuh Schwarzwaldhotel and plan on returning soon.

size of the room, the room's view,
The room had low security, which included an old safe with a missing key and a door that was locked with a key. Mandatory charges for public transportation tickets even if you don't use them. Early closing of the hotel restaurant and bar, and the lack of a vending machine or even a 24-hour electric kettle. This is while most restaurants and bars near the hotel were closed after 6 or 7 p.m., so we had to travel 24 kilometers to the nearest open place for dinner (Burger King). A very small TV in the room.

the photos didn’t correspond to what we experienced, the dinner menu was limited, the shower was in the middle of the room which meant there was not the privacy of a separate bathroom
