The location is far from the tourist buses, but you can reach Triberg by a short, fun train ride.

The service at the restaurant could improve--culture and language misunderstandings.

The hotel was excellent - comfortable, good dinners and breakfasts, helpful staff. Right next to the castle, great views up and down the valley. Interesting building with links to local history. We found out (but only after we'd arrived and carried our bags up from the railway station ) that they would have given us a lift if we'd arranged this with them ... but we didn't know this before we arrived ! We took advantage of their offer to drive us back when we left ... If you're coming by train, you'll be much happier if you get a lift !

The web description says the hotel is only 250 metres from the centre of Hornberg - which is why we set out to walk. That's probably true, if you measure in a straight line, like google maps does ! But it's actually much further and all uphill - you can get there up a steep winding footpath from the village directly up to the Schloss, or a longer and less steep route by road ( 1.5 km or so). Still, we now have a good story to tell about the time we climbed the castle hill with all our luggage ...

Location was amazing, you could have visited the castle for free. The discounts applicable for transports and restaurants things around the village was also a plus. The Hotel was in the middle of the forest on a hill, amazing view. Facilities were great and the playground for children completed it all. I loved the atmosphere.

I would have appreciated free complementary water at our arrival, but you needed to pay for the bottles in the room.

We went on a road trip stopping at various locations this year (2022). Second stop in the Black Forest was the Hotel Schloss Hornberg which is situated on the hill overlooking Hornberg, near Triberg, home of the cuckoo clock. This is a wonderful old building and very elevated. The rooms are large and well maintained with spectacular views down the valley toward the village. The dining room was very large, beautifully decorated and again with great views. The evening meal was a delight as was the service from a very polite and entertaining waiter. Great buffet breakfast to set you up for the day.

Beautiful location, lovely room, welcoming staff, good food. One lovely young lady who served us every evening with good humour and very prompt attention.

Nothing much. The only little niggle was that the one evening the a la carte menu was not running the menu only had one hot meal. This was more our fault for not checking properly what was available rather than the hotel

A dog friendly hotel in a superb location to visit the Black Forest. Set next to an old castle the hotel has wonderful views - the vista from our room was a picture postcard. The room was large, comfortable and clean. We dined in the first evening and the food was great. The breakfast buffet was well stocked. Our (well behaved) dog was allowed in the breakfast area. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location with excellent staff, especially Tatjana, who was always smiling and very helpful with translations and spoke excellent English. Our room was spacious and overlooked the valley. The restaurant was superb and the meal of excellent quality. The breakfast was very very good and plentiful. Lovely place to stay for our overnight stop.

Nothing to fault

We absolutely love the walking paths around the hotel, the views were incredible! The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The food was incredible, we highly recommend at least doing one dinner in the beer garden and then one dinner inside the restaurant. We highly recommend a stay here!

Our stay exceeded our expectations so I'm not sure there's anything I didn't like! It was uncharacteristically hot for the region when we were there, so a fan would have been nice, but we understand the weather was abnormal. Overall it cooled off in the evening and we slept great.

A cute little place in a gorgeous location with great food and wonderful staff. Their menu has some good vegetarian options other than regular German food (which was pretty great too)and amazing desserts. The blackforest cake is a must have here. The rooms are average sized and comfortable. The view is stunning. However, what made our experience here great was the warm and cheerful hospitality, especially Mr. Fink making the effort to take us down the underground passageway for a fun tour.

Location was exceptional. With nice view over the valley. We had the room that looks over the valley. Breakfast was really great and lots to choose from.

The staff was sometimes too busy to come across as nice. Take it as a positive note
