I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Samara Villas- a boutique hotel nested in the serene rice fields of Ubud. This tranquil oasis provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with a small but inviting pool that offers a refreshing dip after a day of exploring. The breakfast served each morning was exceptional, with a variety of delicious options to start the day right. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and eager to assist with any needs. My room was cozy and impeccably clean, and I particularly loved the outdoor shower – such a refreshing experience! One of the best aspects of this hotel is its location. It’s within walking distance to Ubud Market Street, restaurants, cafes, and bars. For those who prefer not to walk, the hotel also offers a convenient ride service. Overall, my stay was nothing short of wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in Ubud.

Everything! Comfortable room, great breakfast and amazing staff! I couldn’t find a bad thing. They also managed to keep ants away even if the shower was open sky.

There is nothing. Just a suggestion, if you are scared of geckos maybe it is not the right place for you, at night there are a lot of them 😊

The location and hotel are absolutely dreamy, but what truly stood out was the incredible staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and eager to make our stay perfect. We used the shuttle to Main Street twice a day, including a 2:30 a.m. ride for our Mount Batur tour, and each time, the staff greeted us with kindness and a smile. Rusma from reservations was especially wonderful—she helped us with a late checkout and was flexible and attentive, always making sure we were well taken care of, and her warm smile made everything even better. I even received a canang sari to place outside my room, which added to the special experience. I only wish we had more time. If we ever return to Ubud, we’ll definitely stay here again. The restaurant is fantastic too—the eggplant dish was one of my favorites from the entire trip to Bali!

I love everything about it

I recently stayed at a charming hotel in Ubud that offers the perfect blend of tranquility and convenience. Nestled in a picturesque rice field area, the hotel is close to downtown Ubud but delightfully remote, with access limited to motorbikes and foot traffic. The hotel's serene ambiance was occasionally punctuated by the presence of adorable ducks, adding a touch of charm rather than disturbance. The rooms were spacious and cleaned daily, ensuring a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was the outdoor shower in the bathroom, which provided a unique and refreshing experience, though it did attract some friendly lizards. The staff were incredibly friendly and always eager to assist with any issues, making the stay even more pleasant. For those wanting to explore the city, it was an easy walk to downtown Ubud, but for the less energetic, a convenient moto shuttle was available. The generous-sized pool was a perfect addition to the serene setting, offering a relaxing spot to unwind. Overall, this hotel is a gem for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to the vibrant heart of Ubud.

Nothing to complain about, just loved it

The place is in the middle of the rice fields with an amazing view. The place is so tranquil and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rusma at the reception was the best she was amazing i really think she is a bonus to the place. she was reachable on WhatsApp all the time. The resort offers a motorbike shuttle as it's not reachable by car. we stayed in the 2-room villa with a private pool. Lastly, the breakfast was excellent.

With an outlook over the ever-diminishing rice fields, it was a wonderful peaceful place amongst the bustle of Ubud. The free afternoon tea was an awesome touch, as were the scooter rides right into the heart of Ubud whenever we needed. The outdoor/indoor lobby area was a great place to work, play board games. The refills of water, rather than plastic bottles, was a huge plus for us.

We were there during some construction, so it was hard to find a peaceful spot to work or relax. The outdoor bathrooms could be refined with some hooks for towels and shelves for clothes.

Samara Villas is set amongst the idyllic rice fields against a back drop of banana and coconut trees in Ubud, Bali.The fields are kept bug by multiple gorgeous ducks.The staff were super friendly and exceedingly helpful. The restaurant provides excellent local and Italian cuisine. The pool is kept pristine and the gardens are beautifully manicured. There is a 2 minute walk to the spa and a 5 minute walk to town where you have all the local ware lining the main street.

On the walk to town, there is a steep hill to tackle, however the staff from the villa will transport you to and from town on a scooter at a moments notice.

The villa was spacious and clean. There were many facilities available in our villa (a large living room, kitchen, pool, large toilet), rooftop balcony. I loved the scrumptious and hearty breakfast that the villa made for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, ever willing to answer our queries. They also provided motorbike shuttle from the villa to the main road which is 700m walk away at any time of the day up to 9pm. We also enlisted the help of the villa staff to book a mount batur tour for us with the pickup from the central area arranged at 2am. It was fuss free! They also packed a breakfast box for us the night before for the hike.

Nothing! It was everything we could ask for the price we paid.

The friendly staff were so helpful. Breakfast was fabulous, lunch and dinner average but considering the location understandable. We liked that it was out of the bustle of central Ubud. The pool was great. The Villas are surrounded by working rice paddies with very cute Running Ducks.

No car access. The staff collect you from a nearby car park and take you by scooter. (The Bookings description says "shuttle" not scooter/motorbike) Staff are quick to collect you or drop you off but if you are elderly or afraid of scooters, this is not for you. The Villas are a short but steep walk from central Ubud. Our Villa was clean and comfortable but getting old and a bit tired. The roof leaked a little during storms. The shower was outside in a private enclosure.

location was a good mix between close to the Main Street (15 min walk or 5 min scooter) and peaceful/quiet being situated next to rice farms. there are only a handful (maybe 5 or so) villas, so it’s not too overcrowded and feels tranquil. Shared pool was empty most of the time and perfect for a dip on a hot day. and the staff were really helpful and lovely, and received a smoothie on arrival!

Being out in the farm area meant lots of bugs (ants, mosquitoes) and geckos within the room - Although that’s hard to avoid in a place like Bali. It didn’t bother us, but just something to be mindful of.
