This picturesque and historic hotel is on the Anacapri side, more down-to-earth than the pricey town of Capri (which is only a short bus ride away). The pool is great, the view from the front lawn breathtaking, the rooms spacious, the breakfast has much more varied offerings than most Italian breakfasts. The Villa San Michele, made famous by the book The Story of San Michele, 1929, by Axel Munthe - read it to get a sense of the history of the area) is now a museum and right up the hill. The hotel dining room did not serve dinner, but there are many restaurants up the road in Anacapri in easy walking distance. There was a free shuttle bus down to the marina area where the ferries depart and arrive.

Great location in Anacapri. 10min bus ride to Capri Town. We had a great family room with stunning views.. Big swimming pool is great with a nice pool side restaurant. Good breakfast and we also enjoyed the hotel bar with live music in the evening

The hotel didn’t tell us they done a shuttle from the ferry so we got paid for a taxi when we didn’t have to. I messaged them two days before we got there to ask about a shuttle and got no response

The hotel's location was great with a beautiful view of Marina Grande as well as a 5 minute walk to Anacapri village, which was great for either catching the bus to Capri village or a stroll around in the evenings to get to restaurants. The hotel also offers free shuttle transport from the port to the hotel and back if arranged in advance which is really handy, especially seeing as the taxis are very expensive and the queues for the buses are very long (particularly during the busy summer period!!). The Breakfast buffet in the morning was great, with loads of different options depending on what you like (fruit, continental breakfast, eggs/bacon/sausages, lots of different meats/cheeses, cereals and fresh bread) with amazing views overlooking the coast line of Capri. My favourite part of this hotel was the pool with it's free towels, pool deck chairs and sun umbrellas (you can pay €8 for a sun lounger for the day if you want, however, the deck chairs are comfy enough). The food by the pool was delicious, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and all in all great quality for price.

Nothing really to complain about, however, the room was a bit small, as was the bathroom, but still plenty of space for two people to move around in.

Friendly staff - amazing location. Our room was ideal for us and 2 teenagers - we had a double room (125) which had a separate twin room - the rooms were connected by a private balcony overlooking the garden and sea. The hotel provided gluten free bread, croissant and muffin for breakfast. We were collected from the ferry and dropped back again at the end of our stay.

I couldn’t contact the hotel through booking.com, my questions weren’t answered. I phoned the hotel when we arrived on Capri and they collected us 20 minutes later. The minibar wasn’t cold.

Food at the Pool side restaurant was excellent, best we experienced on the island in our short stay Room was comfortable, practical, clean and the balcony view was excellent The daytime staff were very helpful and the hotel shuttle bus driver went out of his way to help in our transfers. The location of the hotel is only a short walking distance to Villa San Michele and the Chair lift which were our favourite excursions.

Not staying longer to appreciate the facilities and surroundings of the hotel was our only regret.

San Michele Hotel was a perfect place to see Capri's good view and scenery! The room is enormous, and the view from our balcony is amazing. It couldn't be more perfect. The staff is very welcoming with a smile. Smooth check-in and out, breakfast is awesome also with the perfect view while having your coffee. The pool is really good and the restaurant by the pool area is awesome, they suggested a very good local white wine that makes our lunch more special. Thank you to all the staff of San Michele, will definitely recommend and for sure we will be back in the future :) OM & GM

The hotel and the surroundings are absolutely wonderful. The rooms are large, the towels and linen are white and beautiful, changed daily, cleaned daily, the service very pleasant, the staff friendly and well trained. The breakfast has all categories, they are fresh and good. You have fruits, vegetables, eggs, bacon, cheese, salami, croissants, many possibilities and quality. The view from the balcony is wonderful, seeing the sea and the bay filled our hearts with delight. The garden is very beautiful. Everything is neat and with vintage details. It is a shuttle on request from Marina Grande to the hotel and vice versa. Anyway, public transport is very affordable in terms of price and schedule. Right next to it is Villa San Michele, which I visited twice, that's why I chose this hotel to be close. Bus stop 3 minutes on foot, Anacapri center 10 minutes on foot.

We like all! There was a wedding on Saturday, but the music was not heard, only the guests coming in and out of the rooms all night. Anyway, when we come to Capri again, we want to stay here because we liked it very much.

Beautiful old hotel with amazing views on the cliff overlooking the sea. Large comfortable room with a large terrazza overlooking the sea and Capri. Big breakfast buffet in a large dining area with stunning views as well. Lunch at the pool was relaxing. The service was excellent. Reception was very helpful and had good advice. The hotel‘s shuttle bus to and from the Marina Grande was a nice touch.

Better and more specific information on the shuttle pickup upon arrival would have alleviated much doubt. For example, “pickup will be at pier 21. Look for a white van with a Hotel San Michele sign on the window.” The driver sent a message acknowledging our planned arrival time. Based on that message, I expected him to be waiting for us. But, he had a scheduled drop off we were not aware of and he arrived about 45 minutes later. He was friendly, nice, and a good driver. Better communication would have helped alleviate any uncertainty at a very hectic marina.

The pickup worked perfectly. The drivers are very friendly and give you great tips for Capri. The room service also does a good job and the staff in the restaurant has a lot of charm and works very professionally. The rooms have a special patina and you can see the history of this building. The view from the dining room and the terrace is so tremendously beautiful that it is difficult to even find the right words here. You have to see it for yourself. Small detail; the pool was unfortunately not yet in operation.

The staff at the reception was quite overwhelmed in the service of us (although we consider ourselves rather adaptable guests) but otherwise everything works out well.
