The room offered to us really ‘wowed’ us the minute they opened the door. It was so beautifully decorated and the layout and amenities were carefully thought out. It just felt so romantic. This B&B is located right in the centre of the Historical area with many restaurants and cafes. Hosts Francesco and Sara have gone way and beyond their services that was rendered to us. When we arrived in the rain, they were already waiting for us with umbrellas and helped us carry our luggages to our room. They provided a bottle of Prosecco, so many bottles of water, canned drinks , a basketful of walnuts and another basketful of tomatoes, zucchini and a big bunch of bananas in the room and all these are free. Everyday they would take note of what we like to eat for breakfast and they will deliver it to our room the next morning and it’s always more than what we have asked for. On the day of our checkout, they came to help us carry our luggages, drove us to the train station, checked with the train staff regarding our tickets and even help us to load our luggages onto the train. When we arrived at our next destination, they even WhatsApp us whether we have any issues with our train ticket and if we have arrived safely. Their warm hospitality and passion towards their quests is simply exceptional! According to both of them, they like to spoil their guests and they are very passionate about their job. They make us feel like being part of their family. We already missed Francesco and Sara!

We chose Relais Santa Maria in Martina Franca as our base for Val’Itria. We wanted to explore the area without a rental car. Francesco and Sara, owners of Relais Santa Maria, wowed us with their attentiveness and generosity of spirit. Long before our arrival, they kindly gave us advice about easy access from Martina Franca by public bus to Alberobello and Locorotondo —each a short distance away. The BB is in old town with its narrow streets of white washed homes adorned with potted plants. The BB is about 5 min walk from everything in old town. The BB has stone interior walls that evoke history yet is updated for our contemporary times. The artful decor is shown in the BB photos. The bathroom sinks and area are very striking. Our stay came with breakfast. Sara brought to our room the most amazing and plentiful breakfasts ! Our hosts wanted us to try and brought us the specialties of Martina Franca — freshly made burrata and capocolla ham. We had the best cornetti al pistacchio. We managed to communicate well in spite of my so so Italian and their so so English— thanks to the translation app! They were always available with prompt replies via WhatsApp. If looking for an alternative to a masseria in the countryside, Relais Santa Maria is THE place to stay in Martina Franca! We loved it — and loved discovering the warm and kind people and the best food of Martina Franca ! Dovremmo vivere tutti in Puglia!

We got no real sense of how big or small RSM is...we rang the hotel when we reached somewhere near the centre of Martina Franca. They drove out to meet us, and guided us to a parking spot just outside the Centro Storico (which is completely pedestrianised). We then followed them and our luggage for 5 minutes through a maze of streets until we reached our room. I hasten to add, all of this was explained to us before we arrived! The individual rooms are scattered over several buildings, so I have no idea where (or even if!) there is an actual hotel building, or whether this is a 'virtual' hotel. All we ever saw was our room - which was very nice and homely (in a slightly 'kitsch' way), and less than a minute away from the main drag. Staff took our breakfast order each day, and it was delivered to our door each morning. We were offered plenty of choice (including gorgeous fresh croissants with pistacchio or chocolate cream), and the quantities were definitely generous (to the extent that on the first morning we weren't sure whether the food they delivered was meant to last us all 3 days - it wasn't!). The room included a fridge, and a coffee machine, with a plentiful supply of coffee pods.

Wonderful stay at Relais Santa Maria. Sara and Francesco met us to show us parking, helped out with bags, 5 minute walk to the Relais. Cozy, clean, lots of attention to details, even has heated floors! Greeted with a nice chilled bottle of wine. Only a few minutes walk to town square, lots of restaurants near nearby. Charming clean room and bathroom with limestone arches. Two sinks and lots of toiletries included. Excellent location in the historic center. Friendly host who helped with parking and luggage. We parked on the street both paid and unpaid parking. Generous breakfast brought to room every morning. Very clean. AC and heat in room.

Sara and Francesco prepared and received us with such warmth and positive energy. Travelers appreciate that! And then to stay in such a lovely room in such a perfect location. This was a highlight of our travels. The room was cool and quiet and 100% comfortable as well as charming and authentic to the area. Our hosts were always available with recommendations that were spot on.

We were travelling with a 2 year old. When searching on booking for a place for two adults and a 2 year old, this place appeared. We asked for a crib for our 2 year old in advance and it was provided. However, the crib was for babies up to 6 months old, our child did not fit in it and we had to share the bed. This was uncomfortable, I could hardly sleep.

very pleasant and comfortable room, the hotel is located in the historic center so there will be 'no need to take the car, to visit the various historical monuments of the city'. Sara and Francesco were two really good owners, they served us a wonderful breakfast and recommended excellent restaurants in the area.

The property was lovely - it felt very typical of the area, but the space was cleverly designed to provide all you need in a smaller square footage. Francesco and Sara were very generous with their time, communication and delicious breakfasts. It’s a lovely part of the world and I would recommend anyone to stay here - we had an amazing time.

My stay at Relais Santa Maria could not have been better! Upon arrival I was met by the lovely Francesco and Sara just outside the old town. They found a parking space and helped me with my luggage. A short walk led to my accommodation for the next two days. Spacious, super clean, comfortable and rustic in the best sense of the word. Martina Franca in august is rather touristic so it is very nice to be in a quiet street yet two steps away from the lively squares with tons of bars and restaurants. In the morning Sara brought me the best breakfast ever with everything the region is famous for. If you are searching for a place to stay in Martina Franca, look no further: go here!!!
