Located along the picturesque Via Francigena, this historic residence instantly transports you back in time. The food was exceptional and it was amazing to try authentic, Tuscan food at the restaurant each night. All fresh, local produce and the wine selection was amazing too (which isn’t surprising because you’re in Italy!!) The apartments were lovely and cosy, and the staff were amazing. Everyone was very friendly, and no request was too hard. We liked that it was a small hotel, as felt private and you had plenty of space to relax around the property. Highly recommend!

The location was a pro and a con. It’s a 20min drive from Siena along its windy and narrow road up to the hotel which may not suit everyone’s needs, especially if you want to go for dinners outside of the hotel. That being said, it was quiet, peaceful and had a beautiful view so it was worth the drive and the restaurant was exceptional so it didn’t bother us at all and was a wonderful way to end a busy day sightseeing

After being in major tourist cities in Italy, Venice, Rome and the cities of the amalfi coast, we were happy to receive respite in the hills of Tuscany at Relais La Costa! My favorite feature of this property is the physical building and location. The building is restored with timeless charm and rustic luxury with the most breathtaking views ever changing as the sun and clouds work in tandem and solo to cast their beauty upon the land below. The land of the sun rise is different than sunset and throughout the day. Gorgeous! It cannot be described in words. One must experience it. The staff are excellent as well! Morris (not his formal name) what he told me to call him, works in the courtyard and dining. He is there and prepares and serves breakfast and dinner for us. I’m not sure if he does other things, certainly I’m sure…..but he was always available throughout our mornings and afternoons and evenings to provide excellent customer service. For example, fresh brewed coffee in the morning, spritz in the afternoon with snacks and 4 course dinners. He is a genius in the kitchen! Just let them cook for you! Don’t alter the menu! Many ingredients are grown on the property! And everything else is sourced locally and truly the freshest most delicious meals I had the opportunity to enjoy in Italy! Relais La Costa gets our number 1 vote for comfort, luxury, excellent service, food and wine for our entire 2 week trek throughout Italy! Thank you, we will be back!

The things I didn’t like had nothing to do with this property.

Our family of four stayed at the residence for 7 nights. It absolutely lived up to our expectations - a beautiful property with lots of history. The focus of our trip was cycling, so it was the perfect spot for a home base with multiple cycling routes through the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We especially loved the challenging gravel climb to the residence to end our rides each day. The staff were wonderful, always pleasant and accommodating, the property was very clean and the grounds beautiful. The views from the property are breathtaking!

I am a bit on the fence about this property, it is absolutely beautiful and the setting is lovely but it is very remote and tough to reach (dirt road at the end for quite a bit). Unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather so couldn’t enjoy the facilities. It is beautiful and the staff are very nice. The food was simple but perfectly prepared - dinner was delicious.

As mentioned, you need a car to stay here and it is at least a half hour from any towns. The spa is private which is nice but a bit pricey at 80 Euro an hour. I also didn’t like that they charged extra to order eggs at breakfast.

Beautiful location in Tuscany, very old and very well restored and maintained. The rooms were extra spacious, and we had a suite with double bedroom and bathroom - very luxurious. The pool had a beautiful view, the breakfast was lovely, as was the staff. There was the right combination of privacy and helpfulness. We had dinner one night, and it was romantic and delicious. Unfortunately, we did not have time to use the spa, but it looked delightful. Next time!

It was all good, honestly.

Lovely setting and beautiful residence. Nice and clean and welcoming staff.

The shower was small and cramped and was placed such that you had trouble getting in and out of it. The air conditioning was noisy and was not very effective. The option of a la carte was on the booking but meals were only a set menu and we thought was quite expensive.

We had a great 4 night stay in the residence with the family. It has an original Tuscany charm, with a lot of greenary and big pool. Food was exceptional, we can also recommend the cooking class with the chef Mikaela. It was so much fun! Staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and clean. We can all recommend.

We had an incredible stay! 10/10 would recommend if you want a cute, authentic and beautiful Tuscan spa stay. The residence has an incredible story behind it & being walked through the property by the director was a great touch. The staff were accommodating and friendly and the chef Francesca delivers authentic, healthy and hands down some of best food we had through out Italy. The views from the villa are spectacular. From the pool it’s like looking at postcard- booking.com photos don’t do it justice. The rooms are beautiful and cosy and we received an upgrade which really took our stay to the next level. The breakfast / dinner rooms are stunning with warmer days being hosted outside by candle light. We specifically booked this place for the spa and massage facilities and although it’s $$ we felt it was worth it.

We loved everything about the property and it was exactly what we were after. However, please note that if you don’t have a hire car the property is a good 20mins outside Siena and there as isn’t any shops or things to visit within walking distance. For us this was perfect as we wanted to completely relax and just soak up the Tuscan hills and use the spa facilities. This can make things costly when it comes to food and drink however, so come prepared for this. Additionally the spa pool tiles could use a little tlc and the spa showers needed a little extra pressure.

Nice location near Siena, nice facilities in general, good breakfast. Had very good dinner with wine tasting.

The maintenance could be better for certain small things, the approach is challenging , especially in fog, it is 8 minutes by car from the main road. In general, in pictures it looks more beautiful and fancy.
