This is a palatial building in the centre of the historic area of Pavia. Pavia itself is a wonderful destination for any type of cultural visitor who loves history, art and architecture but wants to get away for a few days from the depressing crowds of tourists that infest the most culturally famous places around the world. Most of the interesting sights are within traffic-free walking distance of the hotel, the whole city is a wonderful testimony to the genius of the romanesque/renaissance era in Italy. Even today it is a happy University city, and prices are reasonable in most places.

Because of historic planning constraints, the hotel has few of the attributes visitors expect to find at that price (no palatial entrance, swimming pool, gym etc). There are only a half dozen rooms but ours was certainly palatial. There was potential for more attention to detail (eg the TV couldn't be plugged in easily and had no international channels, no safe or coffee machine) and the breakfast was only moderate, with a radio bubbling away in the background). Actually, we were able to discuss all these issues with the owner.

This hotel is part of a grand building fashioned on the Galería in Milan. The bedroom we stayed in was large, very clean and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was delightful with fresh eggs cooked to your choice and a good buffet all served in an elegant ballroom with chandeliers. The staff were lovely, friendly, attentive and efficient. We had no problem unloading the car as there is short term space outside the supermarket opposite. The parking wasn't at the hotel but in a nearby garage, this was tight to get into but very secure and I was happy to leave my car there.

The hotel was initially hard to find as the sat nav said we were there but we couldn't see it. Only clue was a discrete hotel sign on the side of the building opposite the supermarket. We had to use the intercom to have the entrance door opened.

What a memorable, comfortable and beautiful place! We had a large room in this historic palace with a lovely view of the duomo, very nice amenities, comfortable bed. The Palace has 6 units, and the staff is incredibly attentive, available and helpful. They take justifiably great pride in sharing the palace with their guests. Location was excellent. Highly recommended. Most special aspect was the ballroom which served as the breakfast room, terrace, and relaxation room throughout our stay - memorable!!

Pavia is a lovely Italian town, worth a stopover or two. The Arnaboldi Palace is a small historic palazzo-style property in the center of town, and the owner/managers take excellent care of guests, and have good knowledge of the town's history, churches, and other recommended sites to see, as well as the university. Charming room, with modern comforts such as working A/C, modern lighting, and beautiful marble ensuite bath. Welcoming hospitality from staff! Thank you.

Everything was beautiful and amazing. Deceptive from the outside. Once you enter, it is truly worth every bit of it. The furnishings, the art, the chandeliers - it was fun to be a small part of it. Beds were comfortable, rooms and baths roomy and spacious. Close, easy walk to most sights. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. They helped us with our luggage and parked our car in a garage. They gave recommendations for great restaurants and made a reservation for us for dinner. We had wine in the ballroom, and they brought out appetizers. We felt pampered. A truly unique and fun experience. I only wish I had known more about it before, as we would have stayed more than 1 night. Enjoyed the town as well.

Absolutely nothing. Only that we hadn't planned a longer stay.

Great bedroom & bathroom size. Both beautifully decorated. The host & other staff were extremely welcoming & helpful. Amazing lounge area (a former ballroom). Lovely breakfast with quality products served in the ballroom. We arrived by car & the directions sent from the hotel were spot on. To be honest we were so well looked after we hope to visit again. Thank you for making us feel to welcome.

Stunning breakfast room. Bathroom is super glam! Beautiful chandeliers in every room. Thoroughly cleaned every day. We were immediately made to feel welcome by Martina and Paolo.

Some light noise from the street during the morning but we had the complimentary earplugs and my partner does sleep with the window open. The bed is extremely comfortable too.

The staff was nice, the overall property was beautiful.

The first night I was there there was a party in the salon right outside my room until after midnight that was extremely loud. I would not have booked that night if I knew there was going to be a party that loud and late. Also, my room didn’t have heavy drapes like the photos showed so it wasn’t as dark as ideal for sleeping.

This is a stunning architectural delight - a privately owned hotel created in a substantial part of what had been Count Arnaboldi’s palace in the heart of charming Pavia. With beautiful decor, spacious rooms, the centrepiece is a gorgeous huge double-height sitting room where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Grand doors lead from here to the circular internal balcony beneath the spectacular glass dome of the impressive former merchant’s hall. What a fantastic building! Paolo, the owner, is the perfect gentleman. Quiet, calm and professional, he discreetly looks after his guests and is happy to talk about the building, it’s history, and offer advice on the town. it seems nothing is too much trouble for him: we called in advance to advise that we had been hugely delayed. Paolo waited up till we finally arrived at 4am and welcomed us in person. Thank you Paolo - your kindness was much appreciated.

After two weeks traveling around in Italy, this was our last accomodation and definitely the best. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The room, the architecture and the interior exceeded all expectations. The breakfast was in a class of its own. Hope to meet Susanna and the rest of the staff again.
