The location of Villa Dei Misteri is great – less than 10 minutes walk to Pompeii railway station and one of the entrances to the Pompeii excavations. The hotel was designed and built by the father of the current owners, who had a flair for design. The rooms are of a good size, and the beds are comfortable. There is a lovely swimming pool, with good shaded and non shaded areas to sit by the pool. Breakfast is a typical Italian breakfast, yoghurt, croissants, sweet biscuits, bread roll with jam or cheese or meat, tea, coffee, fruit juice. In the main building the air conditioning works well – but there was a problem with a water leak in the 2 rooms we had booked so these were not available the first night. We were therefore in 2 rooms by the hotel pool, which are not air conditioned. The hotel was very apologetic, provided fans, and reduced the price we were paying as the rooms were not as we had booked – and we understand that problems happen. However, these rooms are very hot in the middle of summer and are right beside the railway, so one is woken up very early by trains passing! After one night my husband and I moved into an air conditioned room in the main building, which was lovely – with a balcony looking over the Pompeii excavations and the bay of Naples with views across as far as Capri. The air conditioned room we had booked for our son was still not available – he was given the option of sharing with us, but stayed in his own non air conditioned room. There is a bar area which some guests used in the evening – which sells filled rolls and drinks, and bottles of chilled mineral water. I would stay here again – in one of the air conditioned rooms. Although on first impressions the place needs a lick of paint, it is spotless and the friendliness of the staff makes it a lovely place to stay.

We did not have the 2 rooms we booked - no air conditioning on first night for us, and all 3 nights for our son – but this would not stop me from staying here again.

I'm a fan of this hotel and have stayed a number of times. Breakfast is nice, the rooms are spotlessly clean and quiet, the location is great - a quick walk from the train station and to the archaeological park. The pool and patio are great places to relax after a hot day sightseeing. The balcony on the rooms in the main building are nice to sit out on and they have clothes drying racks on them which is helpful to dry out your bathing suits, etc.

My first room had a big hole in the bathtub. I also never liked that the hose for the shower head is only a couple feet long so unless you sit in the tub it doesn't reach your head. I want to shower - I just about never sit in a hotel tub - especially one with a big hole in it. The area around the pool looked a bit sad/run down because the paint is peeling.

I loved everything about this hotel. The pool is amazing. We spent a lot of time there. It is kept spotless. The staff is kind and helpful, very genuine people. They love their jobs and it shows (that's hard to find). I want to give compliments to the maid who always cleaned our room. She did a great job.👍👍👍. The rest of the staff....all I can say is that they are all amazing. They made us feel so welcome and took such good care of us (we were there 4 nights). Grazie mille!!!😃🌸💜 The breakfast was perfect. Cappuccino every morning, fresh croissants, yogurt, fruit, cheese and cereal. Just the right amount to start the day. The location was ideal for us. It was far enough from town that we could enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the view (OMG...the view we had was spectacular), but close enough that we walked it everyday, sometimes twice. (It's about a 25 min walk). It was steps away from the local train and the ruins. If you stay in Pompei, you should definitely choose this hotel. We booked a room with AC and a view of the ruins. Pay the extra and choose these rooms. You won't regret it.

That. my vacation here only lasted 4 nights😥.

The hotel is located about a five minute walk from the Pompeii Scavi train station and an entrance to the ruins. The room was nice with A/C and a nice bathroom. The pool was great to relax around after a hard, hot day of exploring and you could order drinks and a limited menu of snacks and sandwiches etc. Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. All of the staff were helpful and great to deal with. The walk in to town is 20-25 minutes but enjoyable.

Parts of the hotel are a little run down but for us that only adds to its charm.

The pool is amazing! The location is also very close to the ruins. Great value for money. Friendly staff.

Compared to the rest of the hotel the room was pretty basic. Two twin beds pushed together for the king sized bed and a set of bunks we neither asked for nor used. The electricity was powered by your room key, which meant when out of the room by the pool we couldn't charge phones, tablets, watches etc and the AC couldn't stay on. As it was a HOT day, this meant the room heated up quickly. The shower is one of those kneel in the bath shower hose thingos.

We loved our stay here! Thank you for hosting us so well - even mixing us up an amazing Aperol spritzer one night! The rooms were just as they were described - comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were delicious! And with young children, it was great being so close to the entrance to the Pompei ruins - just a 5 min walk down the road.

Nothing I can think of... We visited with winter approaching, but we would love to come back in warmer weather and enjoy the pool! :-)

Fantastic location, ideal for the circumvesuviana train and for getting into Pompeii archeological site early enough to get some quiet time before the masses arrive. Good restaurants etc a short walk away. Friendly staff and good coffee at breakfast time.

Bathroom was clean and useable but a bit of an odd shower situation with a shower head in a small bath that you could shower yourself with but not high enough on the wall to have a standing shower.

The motel/hotel is the closest to the main entrance of Pompeii and to the Villa of the Mysteries. Also very close to the Circumvesuviana train station—about an 8 minute walk from all of those. There is a nice, large pool.

The hotel/motel seemed mostly empty when we were there. I have been there several times over the years and it has not changed. It seems to be used mostly by academic groups. The breakfast is sparse. The room for three we had was small, but adequate. The receptionist was sullen.

Perfect location for getting off of the train and getting to the hotel with a short walk, and then a very short walk to the ruins. Could not be better located and no need for a car. Nice hotel, friendly and helpful receptionist. We'd stay here again and recommend it. Clean and comfortable. Great pool, though we didn't have a chance to use it. Not too long of a walk into the center of town, either.

Breakfast was not the best, but was good enough.

The look of the hotel is a bit dated, but most important it was really clean. It was right next door to the archeological park and the train station so we could visit Pompeii AND also take a trip to Sorrento. The breakfast was fine. Friendly staff. On the last day we could leave our backpacks at the hotel after checkout to visit Pompeii. Next time I'd stay here again.

Nothing to complain. Good value for money.
