Amazing location, staff and experience. Our favorite hotel in Sicily. Owner is a wonderful gentleman who treats his guests and staff like close friends. Make sure you are driving a small car or you may not make it the last ¼ mile to the hotel though. In that case, park behind Bar Vietalli and walk or take the tuk tuk, which is usually parked across the street from that bar (a Godfather scene shooting locale). If you do have a small car proceed up what looks like a pedestrian only path that a careful reading of signs will inform you is OK for guests of the hotel to drive. Again, it’s narrow and steep, so you may not make it in an SUV. Also, DO NOT follow Goggle maps gps directions to the hotel. From Danta Teresa on the coast follow the signs for Savoca. When you reach Savoca look for signs to the hotel. Really no problem with a small car and you will not want yo leave the perfect hotel in this perfect setting.

Everything! The spectacular resort location and Borgo concept, the breakfast choice and fresh quality of items, the comfortable room with balcony & view, the welcome replenishment of free water, the good espresso coffee made at breakfast, the ambiance and menu for evening dinners at restaurant, and the welcoming friendly staff felt like family; ready to accommodate our requests!

Internet needed multiple reactivations after code insertion with limited GB allotted. Pool is quite a walk away down from main building; it's a steep uphill after relaxing use.

The hotels staff could not have been more helpful. They helped arrange the airport transfer and everything we asked for was sorted. Special mention to Francesca and Alessandra on reception who were simply wonderful. Both my wife and I caught a bug during our stay and they could not do enough for us to make our stay comfortable. Francesca called around getting us the best price and package for a tour of Etna and its craters, including the Circum Etnea train and a visit to the Alcantara Gorge. She also arranged a 'pocket breakfast' as the taxi arrived early morning (pre-hotel breakfast). The hotel is situated right at the end of Savoca. The roads are very narrow and driving there would not be for the faint hearted initially, although after a day or two I would suggest it would be easier. The view from our balcony was simply stunning, out across the mountains on one side and the sea (and the Italian mainland) on the other. If you want peace and serenity then this is for you. At times we were the only ones using the pool. It's a little bit of a trek from the hotel (down lots of steps or a roadway if you prefer) but once there it was nice and secluded. They also do food and drink (before 3pm) at the pool if you fancy a sandwich and a beer. We only ate at the hotel a few nights as we also explored the other restaurants in the town. The town centre (if you can call it that) is a 10-15 minute walk away, but be warned, it is all uphill when going back 'home'. At the height of summer this can be a challenge to those of a 'less fit' nature shall we say.

There were no real bad points that would prevent us from making another trip but things to be aware of - there are no real 'shops' in Savoca so general provisions are hard to come by. If shopping or a beach is your thing, this place is not for you. Santa Teresa is a 15 minute (25 Euro one way) taxi ride down the mountain. Buses in Savoca are not really a thing. You will either have to have your own car or take a taxi. It would have helped to have more than one key for the room and being British, some tea making facilities would be welcomed (we love a cuppa and always take our own tea bags!!).

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Lovely staff who went beyond to make sure you have everything you need and nothing was too much trouble. Very peaceful and quiet. Good breakfast that was never rushed. Excellent restaurant which was expensive but if you want the best in Sicilian food then you couldn't beat it. There are also some lovely restaurants in the village that are walkable to and our also excellent.

The only complaint and it is minor and wouldn't stop me going again is that more shade is needed around the pool..just some good big umbrellas would make a massive difference as it's very exposed to the sun there Also important to note that the road leading to the hotel is more than narrow so either hire a small car or just get a taxi. I don't mind a driving challenge but this was a tough one but very worth it when you get there. Drive there if you're confident on narrow steep roads as plenty of people do and it's quite fun.

We loved everything about this hotel! It’s set in a medieval village on a hilltop close to the town of Savoca where you will find Bar Vitelli and the church from the wedding scene in The Godfather. The views are spectacular! Rooms are comfortable, clean, with great balcony views as well. The bathroom was large with a good sized shower compared with other properties we’ve visited. Food was excellent and the pool refreshing in a beautiful environment. The cherry on the top is the exceptional staff (Francesca, Rosaria, Francesco and everyone really), plus friendly owner who took the time to converse with us on several occasions. We can’t recommend this hotel enough. Great quiet base to visit Toarmina, Castelmola, and surrounding area.

The drive up is a bit curvy and narrow, but we adapted in the end. We opted to taxi into Taormina with Max who was fabulous!

What a beautiful hotel resort up in the Savoca hills above the village. A small, very windy road takes you up to Savoca. The last part to the hotel gets interesting. A very narrow road leads up to the resort. You won’t make it in a wide car. Our room was wonderful with a breathtaking views over the running hills and sea. It was great to sit on the balcony and absorb the views. Make a point to get up just before sun rise and see the sun come up over the mainland in the distance. It’s worth it. All the staff are so friendly & welcoming. For breakfast they offer Italian pastries and cakes as well as cereal, bread and fruits of the season. The dinner menu changes each evening and it is delicious prepared and Vittorio the owner comes by to greet the guests in person. The pool area could do some sprucing up but it was wonderful quiet and relaxing. Just what we needed that day.

The views are breathtaking. Truly extraordinary as you gaze across the mountains to the sea and the shores of Calabria in the distance, which gives this hotel a tranquil and serene atmosphere. No cars, other than guests trying to make their way nervously up on the narrow, steep and bendy road. That’s what we did anyway and we were rewarded with a welcome drink and very gracious, warm and helpful service from every person we had the pleasure of talking to. Savoca is a beautiful village a short scenic walk away. Bar Vitelli obligatory.

The food at dinner was very underwhelming. We would opt for a restaurant in town next time. The breakfast on the other hand was decent. The rooms are a little basic and tired, air con loud, shower tiny.

Staying at Borgo San Rocco is, in my view, a unique experience. From the stunning and entertaining drive up to the property to the breathtaking views from most areas of the hotel, you feel like you have been rewarded for deciding to stay somewhere a little off the beaten track. The hotel is as stunning as it is unusual, being a collection of renovated buildings. The food served at dinner is exceptional and the best we had during our stay in Sicily but what makes this place magical is the staff! Each and every interaction we had with the wonderful team was an absolute delight. Thank you very much for making us so welcome! We stayed for three nights which was sufficient I think to get a feel for beautiful hamlet of Savoca but for sure, we were sorry to leave the hotel and the beautiful people that make the experience of staying there so special.

Most amazing staff - Mr Vittorio the owner was just so warm, hospitable, friendly, and just went over and above to take care of his guests. The entire staff was just fabulous. Alessandra and Francesca at the front desk - right from the time we stepped into the property to the day we left. Extremely helpful with everything. Chef Francesco accommodated our dietary restrictions and made some amazing food. location and views were breathtaking - 5 min walk to the church from the movie godfather, 10 mins to Bar Vitelli and pretty much everything the small town of Savoca has to offer. Taormina is just a 20-25 min drive away, so it was easier for us to make this a base and get a laid back vibe with the ability to do a lot more.

Amazing views, staff, pool. Location great for a retreat like stay, very peaceful and beautiful. Great walk (steep) & views to the small village nearby which has a few bars/restaurants.

Personal preference but the bed was very hard. Wifi was quite unreliable and you needed to get login cards from reception each day. Used mobile data most of the time but signal was not great inside the room.
