Lovely location, cute rooms with sea view, and a very nice beach and pool included in the stay. The air conditioning worked perfectly in the rooms!

Breakfast was not great. The weirdest thing was that they would charge you €5 per day if you put your own items in the fridge in the room? Just seems unnecessary and cheap.

Pool and access to private beach. Food and drinks inside the hotel were reasonably priced. The location is very convenient - just 10m walk from the town centre. The hotel facilitates boat ride bookings with a local company whose boats depart from one of the beaches near the hotel. The views from the boat ride are stunning. If you have a car, the national park of Pollino is just 30m away - we enjoyed visiting the river Lao natural reserve. We also enjoyed visiting Diamante, just 20m away by car.

The 2 rooms we booked were on different floors. 3-bed room was a bit too small. The air conditioning was noisier than normal inside the room. The fish starter at the restaurant on the beach could be better. Mosquitoes were having a feast - but I'm not sure how that can be helped.

We absolutely loved the location, the beach, the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff. The breakfast was amazing with everything from cereal to cheese and other sweet and savoury treats. The staff treated us to the breakfast although we had not opted for it. Giusy was an excellent and very kind waitress who also handed in my mother’s sunglasses when she left them in the bathroom. We loved the pool area with the poolside bar too. The lido was fantastic with beach umbrella and deck chairs included in the price of our stay. The beds were comfortable too.

The property however is in need of some renovations as it’s a little outdated. The room was quite small for three people although the balcony with sea view was gorgeous. The bathroom was very small and I must warn that the shower is tiny and if anyone is a bit big, they will struggle to fit inside. The aircon was good but it kept switching off whenever the window was opened for even a second. I think visitors would also appreciate having aircon on in the lobby upon arrival in this very hot time of year.

Hotel with character, retro charme, very elegant navy-style furniture in the very comfortable and clean rooms, nicely refurbished bathrooms. Great breakfast, excellent AC, private beach, friendly, welcoming, excellent value, positive vibe!

Some TLC! Garden and pool areas with fabulous views, but neglected and not really furnished with care. Too many cigarettes in the sand on the lido. White chair covers at breakfast that need a wash, or simple removal. Small details, easy to resolve, that would make this hotel a real winner!

A tale of two very different rooms. The oceanview room was fabulous! Recently renovated, very nice, great big bathroom, amazing balcony and view to die for. loved it! Having a beach club associated with the hotel was a huge plus. It was so great walking down to the beach and getting beach loungers and umbrella and bathrooms there without paying extra. The lady at the beach was so nice. You could also order food and drinks and ice cream down on the beach. It was also amazing having a good size pool there. In the late afternoon a bartender was there too for aperitif. Lots of chairs and shade by pool too. The staff at the front desk were very kind and helpful!

The other half of our family, was in a room for 3 people and it was old, and run down and felt like a completely different hotel. Their ac didn't work well and that part of the hotel is in desperate need of renovation. The breakfast was fine, more than just a cornetto but the coffee was shockingly bad. I don't know how a hotel in Italy can serve that. Also the staff that work in the breakfast area hate their job, such a contrast to the front desk. I feel like this hotel could be really amazing. It could be a proper 5 star hotel with a bit of work. The old rooms need renovation and they need a proper espresso machine and barista at breakfast. We had a long wait for our room to be ready the lobby was so hot, it was unbearable.

Brilliant location. Great views. Best beach area. Superb room, bathroom, bed & balcony. Excellent pool & garden. Easy parking. Quick, simple access to beach; free loungers/umbrellas on private beach area. Beautiful tennis court. Great breakfast & dinners. Really nice, kind, polite, helpful & interested staff. Clean sheets daily. Quiet efficient A/C (new). Fantastic value for money. Settled efficiently run hotel (originally the first in Scalea).

Loved it all; could have stayed a month !

breakfast- super. I read in previous reviews about coffee from the machine, this is not true. Breakfast is both salty and sweet, coffee is brought by the waiter, delicious croissants, there are yoghurts, a lot of fruits. Perhaps after 09:30 the choice becomes smaller, but not critical beach- umbrellas and sunbeds included in the price, beach is clean, has excellent entrance to the sea - small pebbles, immediately deep, which is great for someone who likes to swim. The sea is clear, cooling, despite the crazy hot weather. excellent cocktails in pool area and, despite the fact that the hotel is full, you can always find a place near the pool, as well as on the beach enough places nearby and in city center where you can have lunch and dinner. You can order lunch at the bar on hotel beach, which is very convenient. But if you don't like the menu, then there's a great selection of other places around the corner double room is not big, but there is enough space for 2 people, everything is neat, technically and visually in good condition, clean , room has spacious bathroom

These are some small things, just in order to hotel will be absolutely perfect. Everything was wonderful and I don't have any bad remarks. 1. exit and return from the beach. Perhaps you should think about some kind of electronic key , in order not to ring every time the bell 2. The water in the pool was hot. Of course, in the current weather conditions this is understandable, but perhaps there are some options 3. not enough hooks for towels and shelves for toiletries in the bathroom

The infra-structure in the hotel has a lot of potential... It has a pool, gym center (but not free for guests), beach club with free chairs and sun umbrellas for guests, restaurant both at the hotel and at the beach club. Breakfast is very complete (fruits, juices, coffee, yogurt, cheese and ham, eggs, cereal, lot of pastries). The location is very nice with sea view and close to the old town of Scalea. Free private parking included.

It seems to be an old hotel well managed... Room was not too spacious and it had old furniture... However, the bathroom seemed to be renovated. The room has a tiny fridge (frigobar).but the hotel charges the guest if you use it for your own personal things - you can't even put cold water in there!

The staff, the nostalgic retro decor/feel, the location, the beach club, the complimentary transport to the train station, the view from the sea view room.

I wish they could have provided us with beach towels. I also think the pool needs a clean and the submerged exercise equipment needs to be removed. Charging 5 euro a day if we kept our own food and drink in the fridge.

The Grand Hotel De Rose became our favorite place to stay in Scalea. We stayed there three times for a total of ten nights during our month-long visit to Italy. The location is excellent, just minutes from the beach, the Lido’s and town center. The staff are wonderful and super helpful. The hotel has a restaurant for breakfast and lunch, but not for dinner. There is a very nice pool, and the hotel has its own Lido on the beach where you can eat lunch and sunbath. The grounds are nice with places to sit, relax and enjoy the view. We stayed on both the second and third floors with a balcony and amazing views of the sea and along the coast to the old fort. The rooms are large and comfortable, even for an extended stay. We enjoyed walking along the street by the Lido’s and our favorite Lido became, Il Pescespada Beach Club for lunch and drinks. The owner Mattea was so nice and helpful, always making our visit enjoyable. There are so many great restaurants, in just a short walking distance from the hotel, that we never used our car. We will certainly stay there again.
