This hotel gives off a truly “boutique” type feel. We got upgraded to a junior suite which was very much appreciated, but didn’t get the opportunity to check out their basic rooms. The personalized service, coupled with the little extras provided at check-in and in the room, made it a wonderful stay and overall vibe. The breakfast at the restaurant on the top floor was excellent, and the views were wonderful. The staff was incredible in ensuring a welcoming, personalized experience. The small gym isn’t fully equipped but it is good, well kept, and set up for a basic work out, so we made use of it each morning. In all we would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

The junior suite was very good in size, lay out, etc. However they seemed to overcrowd it with furniture, so made it a bit cramped for a big space. In short they could make use of the space in a more efficient fashion for travellers. However, this didn’t in any way suggest we didn’t like the room, and we would book this hotel and room in the future.

The breakfast is high quality. Instead of buffet style, it offers the guest the choice from the breakfast menu, and are freshly prepared. The Fauchone branded amenity biscuits are tasty. This hotel is located at Shijo Kawaramachi area, 10 mnutes walking lead to the tourist / shopping area of Shijo, but is very quiet at night. Several Kyoto bus have stop at the door of the hotel. When finishing the day trip to nearby cities (Nara, Uji) and back to Kyoto station, that would be very convnienet to hop on a bus and take you back to this hotel. It is my second stay at this hotel in these 2 years, and feel appreciated and welcomed back by the hotel staff.

Hotel upgraded us to their junior suite which was an amazing room exceeding all our expectations. Large enough that it included a separate dining area. The bathroom also had a large walk in shower and bath. Toilet was in a seperate room with all the top bidet facilities expected from a 5 star hotel. The rooms lighting included mood settings. Further to this, as we were leaving the foyer in a hot day and about to set off on a tour, a staff member provided us with two cold free bottles of water which was outstanding service.

Perhaps if i was forced to write a negative, no matter how minor it felt to us, the views might have been better matched to the outstanding room. But, this minor issue, in no way should dissuade anyone from booking the hotel.

Excellent location and a fabulous hotel. Our room was lovely, cleaning etc excellent and the laundry service very good. Breakfast was really good too. Every member of staff we encountered was lovely - friendly and extremely helpful, they were always ready to do whatever they could for us. We stayed in five different hotels during our trip to Japan and spent two weeks at the Fauchon. It was far and away the best of all the hotels we stayed in and we would definitely return.

Exquisite decor. Extremely clean and well equipped.

The breakfast only had a very small selection of food. Not a great variety from a limited set menu. Also there were no washing machines and dryer for doing our laundry. Exorbitant prices for Laundry service. Paying $200 AUD for a set dinner menu in the restaurant was also disappointing. After a days travelling and walking sometimes you don’t want to go searching for a restaurant. You just want to go down to the hotel restaurant first and simple meal not a 5 course set menu. We wouldn’t stay here again even though the decor is beautiful.

Very kind and warm staff. Room was a fun mixture of Paris and Kyoto; nice to have treats and Nespresso in the room. I was upgraded to a fabulous suite--which was so lovely, I booked the same room for a return trip with my daughter the following week. After full days of sightseeing and walking 10+ miles a day, the room provided a great spot to unwind and relax. Pretty view of the eastern foothills and the river below. Nice bathrobes, slippers, pjs, amenities. Housekeeping was excellent, the room was quiet and well lit with good climate control. I left feeling relaxed and well rested. Thank you!

Breakfast was served as a set menu for the first few days, the food was well prepared, but for "light" breakfast eaters, it might be a bit much. We ended up turning down a few of the set options but this seemed to cause a bit of a kink in the system. It would be nice to have an a la carte breakfast menu. For those who enjoy a large breakfast, this will be a good fit!

Beautiful, clean and well presented room. Extremely courteous staff making our stay a very pleasant one. Location is ideal with a 5 min walk to the train station and shopping/dining a stone’s throw away. Loved the snacks provided in room, bed and pajamas very comfortable and showers were perfect after a long day exploring Kyoto and surrounds. We stayed 4 nights and wish we could have stayed longer.

While looking for a hotel in Kyoto, we wanted a place within walking distance of the city center and of high quality. Fauchon Hotel, which we had already enjoyed in Paris, was an excellent choice. They beautifully combined French style with the traditional spirit of Kyoto, creating a truly delightful experience. The team was incredible. We left feeling very very happy.

Very comfortable, quiet hotel. Wonderful and professional staff. Nicely furnished with all of the amenities (plush robes, pjs, slippers, comfy beds/linens, Nespresso machine and loads of treats). Convenient area, easy access to trains, bus and the river path. The pastry shop on the ground floor has even more delicious treats and decadent hot chocolate, in case the sweets in the room aren't enough! A very nice and relaxing place to stay. I will return on my next trip to Kyoto.

Absolutely delightful room decor, generosity of minibar snacks (even for us who aren’t big smackers), beautiful breakfast presentation. The bathroom is perfect.

It’s a small property so there’s not much facilities. We stayed for a week and it would have been nice if we were told upfront that we could pick our breakfast everyday. Enthusiasm of concierge team vary, some are warmer and more enthusiastic to give ideas than others.
