The garden around the Ryokan was very beautiful and it's a treat to wake up to them every morning.

Maybe the WC can be a bit more modern

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this Ryokan on our most recent trip to Kyoto. From the moment we stepped onto the property, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere and incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They checked us in and welcomed us with match green and an absolutely delicious match mochi- HOMEMADE. The overall experience exceeding our expectations. It location was secluded and breathtaking. The rooms were clean and spacious for a traditional Ryokan. We appreciated the amenities including tradition yukatas that we wore to dinner. They also provided additional service and helped us coordinate an early taxi since we were leaving before the provided shuttle. One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel's dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast provided within your stay. we indulged in a delicious meal and breakfast reflecting a traditional meal for Japan. Overall, our stay was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of top-notch service, impeccable accommodations, and prime location made for an unforgettable and relaxing stay. We will be returning to the perfect little gem of Kyoto! Thank you!

The location and grounds are great, as are the layout and facilities of the ryokan. My adult daughter and my wife loved the visit and had nothing but praise for the experience, including the food and the onsens.

I thought we were getting a "triple room," which meant to me for three persons, when I registered and paid. Later it was suggested that we purchase a second room for two. I think you should change the wording. As a third, I chose to spend dinner and the night at a minshiku a few miles away and had a wonderful cultural experience there (although separate from my wife and daughter).

This was an incredible get away, immersive Japanese experience. The place was traditional at the same time it was modern and luxurious. We felt so pampered and peaceful in our beautiful room open to a moss filled garden with a koi pond. The outdoor Onsen was exceptional. Small so you didn't need to be with a lot of others, clean and peaceful. This was a 1 day interlude with my daughter. Very peaceful, how do they escape the sounds of cars etc? Truly Japanese, though they were very kind and accommodating to us as Americans.

Breakfast was traditional Japanese, with seasonal variation. No two breakfasts were exactly the same. It was perfect for us, as we were looking for an authentic experience. The room was traditional, but with sufficient climate control and a decent wifi connection.

The only thing we didn't like was having to leave! Beware if you love to experience a traditional Japanese welcome, it won't be easy to think of the hotel and staff without wanting to return. Meal times are at set times, so unless you want to miss beautiful Japanese cuisine, your day will have to be planned around those times.

The interior was amazing, staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Food was really tasty, the portions were BIG.

Hotel was difficult to find, had to get off the car and ask locals , they also had to call the hotel for us to confirm the exact location. Also, the public onsen only allows 4 people in one time and the size is rather small, otherwise you need to wait for your turn. So I don’t think it worths the money cuz it’s expensive. Hotel doesn’t have any entertainment other than the onsen. So I don’t recommend staying more than two nights.

The receptionists are very polite and kind. And the hotel room is awesome. When we checked out, one of the staff drive us to the bus station, which made us feel well treated very much.

A little bit far from Kyoto station, which takes about at least 1.5 hours to get to the hotel room. Also, most of the staff could speak only a little English, if you don’t use the translation app on the smartphone, it would be a little trouble for communication.

Seryo was legit one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life. The drive there felt magical, the little town that it is in, its surrounded by beautiful temples and less busy than the chaos that was Kyoto ( I visited during Sakura season). The staff was so helpful.. We got there a little early and were just going to leave our bags then look around the town but they offered us tea and let us check in early. 'Manager' was kind and accommodating. The views were breath taking. I would 100% stay here again- only thing I would do differently is that this was my first time in Kyoto- so I traveled a lot and honestly this place and town deserves its own time to shine that I wish I would've spent more time enjoying the stay than running around to explore all of Kyoto.

Only thing to work on- which I am not sure is a big deal- I messaged a lot prior on bookings and got little to no responses. I told them to not worry about meals for two of the nights we were here and that my sister and I did not love fish- but I do not think it was relayed because we had to ask again and no one ever responded on bookings. That being said they were amazing and made us American breakfast (which is so embarrassing) but was SO delicious.

The room with a private bath was great. Room was clean. Hosts were curtious, thoughtful and hospitable. Foodnwas excellent. Even after all of these great things, the view was the best part. If you're on the fence about spending the $$ just do it and you'll be happy you did :)

Was tougher to get a cab in the afternoon back to kyoto. They drove us to the bus station and took it direct to kyoto station
