Our stay at Shin Kyoto was absolutely incredible! The place itself is beautiful, comfortable, perfectly located, and incredibly clean. What truly made it special was Shin, the owner. Shin is incredibly friendly, attentive, and goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have a memorable experience. His warm hospitality made us feel right at home, and he was always available for any questions or recommendations we needed. Staying here felt like staying with a friend! Highly recommend to anyone visiting – it’s a five-star experience. Thank you, Shin, for making our trip unforgettable!

Great location not far from Kyoto station, hostel was on a busy street where you could find 7 eleven, curry restaurant/fast food, uniqlo across the street and etc. Unexpectedly, I had a pretty big room in this hostel because in japan I think it's really rare to find one. Super clean, cool assets such as coffee machine, projector in the kitchen, everything is really easy to use. Nice and polite host, Shin, thank you for the stay, I'll definitely come back) Also, this hostel really stands out when you're looking for where to stay. It has this great urbanistic look, which I really appreciate.

During my 18 days in Japan, staying with Shin in Kyoto was truly one of the highlights. Shin is an incredibly sweet and gracious host, making our short stay feel like home. He went above and beyond to offer thoughtful recommendations for exploring the city, always with genuine kindness and warmth. If you're looking for a place to stay in Kyoto, I can't recommend Shin highly enough. It's a perfect choice for anyone seeking a welcoming and memorable experience.

There is nothing that I disliked about my stay at Shin.

Everything’s was very clean and everything you needed was at your disposal

The location was hard to find on google maps

Located close to public transport, and close to Kyoto station (2 stops away). The bed was super comfy, the amenities were super clean and modern, there’s a full sized kitchen if you want to cook, and a shared space with a projector screen and a cute rooftop. Shin (the owner/manager) goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable. His English is great and gave me tips on cafes and restaurants in Kyoto as well as how to navigate around Kyoto (it was my first time there so very helpful).

While I did not have a problem with this I’m only mentioning it re accessibility. This property features steep/narrow stairs and some people may have trouble using them. I’m 6’6/198cm tall and took it slowly and had no problem.

Everything! Shin the host was amazing and very welcoming. Helping with baggage on arrival and departure. State of the art technology throughout the accomodation which was all explained on arrival. Very spacious room. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, perfect for the weary traveler. Bus stop right outside and train station just across the road. Very clean facilities also. Fantastic stay!

Absolutely nothing to dislike, just be careful on the stairs!

This place is better than in looks on the pictures! I would say it’s a hidden technological gem (everything is automated, even doors closes by themselves) plus there is home warm atmosphere. Shin - owner of the place was extremely nice to us and it feels that the place was made with love We are looking forward to come back to Kyoto and stay here again

Nothing apart of narrowed stairs (might be a problem for someone)

Everything, the toilets were clean, shower was great, bed was very comfy, and everything being automatic definitely helped modernize this even more. If i am in kyoto again I will book with SHIN! Great host by the way, very informative and a cool person to get to know!

The steps, but its not that big of an issue, you'll be able to get used to the stairs after 3 nights 😂

My room was spacious and so comfortable. Very cool looking too. The shared parts of the house were cleaned daily but because the capacity is smaller it never really got dirty. It was very convenient for me.

The location isn’t exactly central but there are a bus and metro stops nearby and it’s about 15min ride from the main shopping street. So not necessarily an issue!

Loved our stay here! Interesting and well-kept space with many little conveniences. Excellent location convenient to the train, lots of restaurants and 7-Eleven within walking distance. Best of all, Shin-san was an excellent host. He gave us lots of advice on things to do, was so friendly and fun to chat with, and even washed and folded a load of laundry for us.
