The guesthouse is literally 1 minute away from the famous Dogo Onsen and 5 minutes from transportation. Lots of shops, restaurants and sightseeing around. The guesthouse and the rooms are super clean just as the bathrooms. You have a big common area downstairs with free teas, coffee and cookies. You can also buy for a very cheap price cup noodles if you’re feeling lazy to go out. You also get free body soap and shampoo to enjoy the onsen! But the best part of the stay was Shumpei. He speaks very good English and he goes all the way out to make your stay the best possible. He helped me to get the tickets for the best baseball match I’ve ever seen.

My stay was too short even though I was there for 8 days. I would have stayed more!

Be sure to stay in this hostel during your stay in Matsuyama. The place is owned by a lovely couple and located right next to the famous Dogo Onsen in the Dogo district. Everything you ever wished to find in a hostel is here : - the owner is very helpfull and friendly - the place is well decorated and clean, with a cozy vibe - they have all the amneties - they sell cup noodle at very fair price, so you don't even need to go to the supermarket if you are hungry - they even lend shower pack to use at the Dogo Onsen 😭 A place I wish to stay another time when I will be back in Matsuyama

There is no laundry, but there is a coin laundry 5 minutes away 🙂

The staff are very friendly, it is right next to Dogo onsen. I came late and had a top bunk, I was offered a bottom for my second night, however I got back late again and they were all taken. Bit then, I was offered a private room. Lovely. Also the private room had the most comfortable bed I have slept on in 4.5 we eks in Japan. So if you are sick of sleeping on the hard japanese beds, give this place a try.

1. Location as Dogo Onsen was merely a stone's throw away. 2. Friendliness of the owner, who took time to brief guests on the do's and don'ts during their stay, and the sightseeing activities. When asked, the owner made a comparison of the three onsen spots, namely Dōgo Onsen Honkan, Dōgo Onsen Annex Asuka-no-Yu and Dōgo Onsen Tsubaki-no-Yu. I went to the newer and more modern spot, namely Dōgo Onsen Annex Asuka-no-Yu - a satisfying experinece! 3. Hygienic - The washbasin downstairs was supplied with handkerchiefs instead of hand towels.

Do consider fulfilling guests' request to turn on the aircon upon request, even during late spring/early summer as it can be warm at night.

Location is superb. Owner is really nice, welcoming, and accommodating. I loved that he let me play his guitar for a bit- a nice treat when I’m away from home. There is a fridge available, bathrooms were sufficient, and the bed was just fine. The beautiful onsen is nearby and there are a number of beautiful temples within walking distance- as well as a small park with castle ruins. Definitely worth a stay in Dogo!

The staff is very helpful and friendly. Beds are comfortable and the common areas are nice and spacious. The location is also great, on a quiet street but still right next to transport and all the attractions in the Dogo Onsen area.

The common area gets cold quite fast in winter once the heating is turned off down on the first floor at around 10pm. Also the only bathrooms are downstairs.

The host was a very warm and kind individual. Would love to come back just to talk to him more. He was super helpful and me figuring out where to go once I found out the Dogo Onsen was under construction and fully booked. Which to be honest, was confusing as I think the Dogo Onsen website specifically mentions there are no reservations. Location was perfect, literally around the corner from Dogo Onsen, a few other onsens and the shopping area with good souvenir/clothes shops and good restaurants.

I think there was a rule that lights are on by 7am. I was already getting up early to check out the nearby shrines but if I was staying a long time, this would make it hard for me to sleep in. You still get a curtain so that kind of blocks out the light but the room light is still on at 7am.

The location was fantastic! 3 min walk to Dogo onsen & the main shopping st. Also only a 4 min walk from the bus stop (from the airport). The host, Shimpei was extremely nice & helpful about recommendations for things to do and even stayed later to check me in as I arrived late in the evening from the airport. There were free tea/coffee and cookies as well as a guitar in the main lobby. The room was spacious and had your own curtains for privacy. There were extra blankets that were super fluffy and comfortable. I don’t normally write reviews but I thought this was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in throughout Japan! definitely stay here if you are visiting Matsuyama!

This was a really nice and comfortable guesthouse/ hostel. It was very clean and had great facilities. The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was in a good location close to the Dogo Onsen.

It might have been nice if you didn't have to go downstairs to use the toilet, but the sinks and showers were close to the bedrooms so it wasn't too inconvenient.

Great location, right near several onsen, near the mountains, and with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Friendly owner and environment and a nice lounge to meet the other travelers, along with free coffee, tea, and biscuits. Dorm beds with privacy curtains and guest control of the HVAC.

Lockers are only large enough to hold a wallet. After having had my previous computer stolen at a hostel in Kyōto, I didn't dare take it out since I had nowhere to lock it up. Lounge area was very cold in the evenings. Also no heat where the sinks are.
