The onsen are fantastic. Worth coming just for that. We stayed here to access Rusutsu ski resort which was a 40 minute drive. Very few skiers or other gaijin. A fun Japanese experience if you like your holidays a bit mad and going to dinner in your pajamas.
The beds are pretty terrible so we slept on futons on the tatami mats. That was fun but a little hard. The buffet restaurant was pretty good at first but by day 5 we were making jokes about the repetition. No bar in the hotel also. The huge lobby would be an ideal for a cool lounge bar etc but was just empty space. The location is also quite remote, literally nothing around.

Everything is likeable with this resort you will get a wonderful experience and what you paid for! The onsen is brilliant especially the open-air onsen looking at the sky and nature as you feel like you are a part of the atmosphere. Many different onsens to try so it will be an onsen-hopping moment. The food is delicious as I had the buffet for breakfast and dinner, they have many dishes to choose from, also the dessert area soft-served ice cream was a bonus! The room is very nice and clean, I had the private onsen room and it was brilliant! The beds are comfortable, I have even tried the futons and it is a comfy experience indeed. The tatami mats in the room make it very special and it's very present chill down in the tatami room. Overall I love this place and it was an eye-opening experience.

The included breakfast & dinner buffet had lots of amazing choices - no chance of going hungry. The Onsen area was very clean & the outdoor tubs & spa pool beautiful - the hot springs pools are quite traditional in design - so if you are looking for a modern spa experience this may not be your cup of tea. The whole resort was very tranquil - which was great after our stays in some of Japan's crowded cities. We liked the location in particular because it was a bit isolated - not in town - so it was quiet, but if you wanted more bustle & dining options this is probably not the place for you.
Nothing. The Inn was totally charming.

- Nice onsen with different Flavours. Outdoor and indoors very big. - wide range of breakfast and dinner selection with scheduled time for crowd management. - Very classy feel. - Recreation corner with table tennis, mini badminton and claw machines. - Rooms are spacious. Toilet is small but not essential as most bath and stuff done in onsen. - Convenience store in hotel with good selection at reasonable prices. - Unlimited coffee in lobby 24 hours. Nice hot desks for those who need to catch up on some work.
Nothing. Loved it!

Size and available of the onsens provided a great rotenburo authentic with 3 outfits (sleep suit, room wear & kimono) available per guests to wear to meals. The outdoor public foot bath and river in front of the hotel is nice but under utilized, maybe consider some kind of collobaration with other local businesses to bring more activity options. A small refrigerator in the room is useful to store cold drinks.
Spa service menu looked like a good value but front desk explained there's no staff to provide them. Front desk also explained that the weather was cloudy so we were unable to book for the star observation. The bathroom was very small and dimly lit.

This is my second time visit here. i'm satisfied their onsen that the biggest and the most wonderful i've ever been.in door onsen is very big and outdoor is more big! and when the snow come it's 2X more beautiful. The room is clean and quite big . car park is available but need some walk down the steep slope or stairs.
The dinner buffet , i remember it was so wonderful last time i have. it was great and choices but i'm over expected this time compare to another hotel with same price rate i've visit this year. at least more choice of sashimi like salmon ,hamachi , ikura etc (they got nice akami and some sushi) . the breakfast buffet is like dinner that i think you can improve.

Very good team and tea amazing Onsen! Love it! Once we arrived there was someone who helped us with our parking and luggage. When we were leaving they were also helpful with the luggage. Really amazing team. Onsen was the best I have ever had in Japan. Hopefully we will be back next winter 🤗
Nothing if I have to say maybe if you are not driving not too convenient. But we are driving so the location was not a big problem.

The Midorinokaze Resort Kitayuzawa is perfect for relaxing your soul and mind, it located in the quiet hills side and specially the hot springs, you will get a surprise, we stay for 3 nights and we have wonderful time, the staff are so helpful and friendly, it’s worth to visit.
When we check in there’s bit of problems of people stayed and charge , however it sort it out in the end and all good .

Both breakfast and dinner were very good--there was a very wide variety of food and everything was delicious. The onsen experience in particular made the stay extremely enjoyable (especially the outdoor baths!!!)
Location is very remote, but I personally really enjoyed walking around a small town. Others may not have this preference so to each their own.
