The room was spacious and pretty, while maintaining a rustic charm. Listed as big enough for four people, and that seems right. Good sized private tub, too. Fit a plus-sized body rather well. Provided hot and cold water pitchers, too. The orange thermos one was AWESOME at keeping water hot. The staff was also very nice. Showed us to our room and helped bring in our bags, and also remembered who we were when we came to pick our key back up after being out. We had a small chat with the cleaners one morning, too.

The only thing we thought could be better is we would randomly be disconnected from the wifi. We were told in advance the coverage wouldn't be good in part of the room, but even in the good half sometimes we couldn't find the signal. That is not a problem with people though, more of a technical thing.

I liked the ambience and feeling of the ryokan. It very much reminded me of a traditional Japanese inn, it is one after all. The room itself was spacious with some nice amenities in the form of water (both hot and cold), futons laid out already, and it came with yukata for the guests to wear. It was located in a very nice location; about a 7-10 minute walk from Sapporo station. The entrance to the room was very nice; it felt like a miniature Japanese apartment more than anything. Breakfast was very value at ¥1000 per person, and it was delicious.

Apple Maps routed my group to behind the property: it was hard to find especially because all the pictures were during the non snowy season. With all the snow it was hard to recognize the front of the property. Also the bathroom was a little bit too cramped for my liking and, there was a gap between the bathtub and toilet that was a little bit gross, but also endearing in a weird, lived in home kind of way.

This is a great Ryokan experience that you can get in Sapporo. The hotel has its history which is clearly visible from the staff and with the pictures on the wall. The staff is one of the best that we have experienced during our travels in Japan. They really take care of you. The breakfast is a traditional experience. Delicious local produce with very affordable price. The location is very good. You are literally 10 minutes walk away from the station and Odori Park. You are next to the Sapporo University botanical garden which is great experience that you must try. Anyone who is traveling to Sapporo should check this property. The entrance of the rooms actually looks like a house and the naming of the rooms are aligned.

For a small Ryokan, onsen is well organized and very clean however it is small. The property may introduce limiting the number of people using the onsen at the same time.

The hotel was just what I wanted: lodging that was not a mega-hotel with modern facilities. The staff was pleasant even if their English was no better than my Japanese. The breakfast was an unexpected bonus in terms of quality. My friend was familiar with Japanese cuisine and rated it highly. The location was good if not exactly "central." We easily walked to the food festival in Sapporo's well-known Odori Park. The festival was great, and we ate there for snacks and supper. We were also able to walk easily to Sapporo Station for the next train part of our trip. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is not a modern splashy hotel. The other guests seemed like us - just regular travelers. The restaurant facility was modest. We had a little difficulty finding the hotel when we arrived late at night. Its signage is not obvious in the dark.

The staff was exceptionally courteous and great from the beginning to the end. The room was traditionally charming with futon, sliding doors, along with tea and snacks provided each day. Public bath that is on the floor was small but definitely adequate. We paid extra 1200 yen for breakfast one day and they did not disappoint! The food was amazing and the portion size was great as well. Sleeping on a floor with the tatami mat can be little uncomfortable for some, but I had a comfortable night sleep as well. During my stay, I have unfortunately caught a high fever and did not have any knowledge what to do. The hotel staff was very kind enough to find me a local clinic to visit, made an appointment for me, and even hauled a cab. I've never experienced such hospitable stay anywhere!

nothing I can think of.

This was our first ryokan experience and we were so glad it was at Nakamuraya Ryokan. The staff were lovely and we were able to make do with our minimal Japanese and their much better English. The rooms were beautiful and the futons were comfy. The breakfast and dinner were extraordinary, with very generous portion sizes. Everything about our experience was exceptional and I hope we can come back one day!

Coming here after a 10-day campervan trip was more just than a relief in comfiness. The staff was extra helpful with organizing a taxi for our the early morning departure from Chitose airport. Altough we did not manage to have dinner at Nakamuraya, we totally enjoyed ourserlves in their bathing space. Truely a recommendation if you're staying in Sapporo and are looking for a rather traditional place!

This hotel is a very respectable establishment. I went in with my brother for a traditional living experience and we were not disappointed. The staff had limited English, but we were able to understand thru the translate app. They were friendly and accommodating to our needs. For the value, this was exceptional.

The onsen was good. Had the entire rub to myself.

The tatami beds and the table in the room were all at floor level and both of us had difficulty getting up after our rest. Also the Ryokan uses physical keys to the room and whenever we request for our key, the duty staff at the reception just handed us the key without asking for our names for verification.

It was our first stay in Hokkaido, so it was good to find a ryokan rather than a modern hotel. Location is good as it's quiet and right near the Botanical Gardens. The hot Japanese bath down the hallway was great.

It was hard to get used to sitting at a very low table and sleeping on the ground on tatamis. Not the ryokan's fault. Just a different culture. We take it for granted that there will be a chair and table at our 'normal' seating height.
