Very warm atmosphere in Umebachi, we played kendama with their daughter, drank sake togetgher and went on a night walk togther. It felt like I was in a small family for a bit. I met with an amazing guy from Taiwan that I met again in Tokyo a few weeks later cause we had kept contact. The personel was very patient and keen on speaking either english/japanese. Really enjoyed my short stay there

The only thing I could say I appreciated less was that it was not long enough. The house was lovely and the people gave good advice. I did have heavy luggages so coming from the station was a bit tougher as there is a short metro ride and a bit of walking but all and all it was nice stay. A bit further from the center than I expected but that was alright.

The host is a wonderful man and offered a delicious dinner for JPY 1000! As he is a former cook, it was really delicious! It was also nice to have a common space to share with the other guests and share our experiences, and have some social interaction in general. The woodwork in the rooms - such as the beds - were also made by the host himself and is really top-notch!

I had a little trouble sleeping on the mattresses, which are harder than what I was used to, but the fact each bed is like a capsule with heavy curtains meant it was dark and quiet, which helped a lot!

I had such a great time at Umebachi. The owner is a lovely person and I enjoyed the original Japanese radio gymnastics each morning. :) There were many different people to talk to and the whole guesthouse had a nice and welcoming atmosphere.

The private room is right next to the common room and kitchen downstairs. It didn't bother me too much, since I rarely went to bed before 11 pm. And when people were slightly noisy at night (surprisingly some seemed to be hungry in the middle of the night), I just put in earplugs.

The staff are very friendly and the other customers, Japanese or foreign are all very kind! I ate dinner there and the food was diverse, of good quality and price! The rooms and facilities are very good and clean it's very good value for the money! I especially like the familial atmosphere where everyone talks to each other and you can really come to know other people! For example throughout my stay I became friends with a few other solo travellers and we ended up visiting places together! As a first time solo traveller this place was a very pleasant surprise and I recommend it to anyone be it Japanese or foreigner, solo or family travellers! The placement is also very good, only a few minutes by subway from Sendai station and the area around is peaceful and beautiful, ideal for any late night walks! If I come back to Japan I'll definitely stay here again! It's my favourite memory from my trip!

The atmosphere of the place was amazing. Great common area where everyone hangs out and eats together. Host was very friendly and easy going, creating a cool/laid back vibe. Japanese travelers were welcoming and let me practice my Japanese. The craft beer and homemade jam was a nice touch.

Can't complain. Was one of the best guesthouses I've been to so far. Really quite a special place with great people.

Great staff, very friendly and very social. Host would cook dinner for guests and staff would hangout and chat. Very social atmosphere among guests, feels almost more like a joint airbnb.

Room is quite small and beds are bunkbeds rather than pods. No showers after 22:00, can be inconvenient at times.

The owner of the hostel and his family are very friendly and seem to be in a good mood all the time. The hostel itself is very clean and decorated in a comfortably warm way. It is also close to Nigatake station, from which you can reach the center of Sendai in 10 min.

The showers cannot be used after 22:30.

Hosts were very hospitable, I enjoyed passing time chatting at the living area. They sold home made umeshu that was delicious. With some of the other guests, one that could play guitar, we had a pretty fun karaoke session.

It was probably as good as you couldve hoped for for a guest house stay.

Relatively close to the station and the facilities were nice. My favorite part, however, was talking with the staff. Everyone, staff and other guests, was super nice and understanding making it my favorite part of my Japan trip so far. Especially how it was a great chance to meet lots of new people from all over Japan and the world and practice my Japanese with everyone working there. I would highly recommend!

Nothing, everything was amazing.

I loved my stay here. 20 minutes by JR from the centre of town, this is the perfect launchpad for exploring Sendai. The staff were kind, thoughtful and helpful, and provided great recommendations for local gyutan restaurants. They also nurture a lovely atmosphere in the common room. Shower and bathroom facilities were very clean, while I slept comfortably. Highly recommend. Thanks for having me!
