My first time staying in a traditional ryokan! The lady that greets us was very kind and explain to us in clear english. We had the best room ‘Sato’ with an amazing view and private open onsen. The room comes with everything you need and was very clean. The location is also not very far from the main street and can easily walkable. Totally recommended!!

There’s really not to like. But if you’re not used to sleep on futon, your back probably won’t love it. The open shower is also a a bit challengin during winter, but still love the experience.

Hands down the best accommodation I've ever stayed at, in my life. Staffing top notch, they helped with so much, explaining everything around/in the property and your room. They have maps of most of the town and recommend great food and attractions. They even help reserved a table for us! They speak good English! The rooms were superb, clean, and spacious, the private open bath was lovely, and we had a great view of Mt. Yufu, from our beds☺️ we will spread word about this place and definitely will return!

We absolutely loved this place!!! I honestly can't recommend it enough. Not only was the location perfect, with a great grocery store directly next to it, but the room itself was impeccable. But above all, the host/employees were 5-Star quality. They truly went above and beyond.

The private outdoor onsen... The traditional architecture... The homely service. The Ryoken is actually very near Yufuin station - don't let Google maps fool you! There's a short cut - from station, walk towards Kinrin Lake, cut left into a small alley after Oita bank, walk through to Joyfull restaurant and the supermarket - facing the supermarket go left and there's a small entrance into the Ryoken!

Very nice owner who helped us to make appointment for dinner. Suggested good restaurant for breakfast. Clean and tidy place to stay. Polite and helpful staffs. Provided us traditional kimonos with right sizes, enriched our travel experience staying in Yufuin.

The private outdoor onsen bath was gorgeous. The water was warm, clear and odourless. The hosts were very kind and helpful. They speak good English as well.

The room was only equipped with outdoor shower, which was very cold in winter.

1. the welcoming host can speak fluent English 2. I was a little worried about the outdoor shower (-3 to 6°C), but it's not cold at all even at night 3. despite no meal is included, the host provided good recommendations for dinner & breakfast

I am very impressed by this place. Because the lovely staff gave us advice and helped reserve dinner restaurants for us. The accommodation is private, beautiful. And there is a wonderful onsen.

The classic Japanese house is attached with a private hot spring tub. The supermarket is sitting next to the place. Amazing host with a warm and friendly smile. would I would definitely stay here if go back to Yufuin .
