I have stayed at Hotel Kolumbs several times over the last four years and it has always been a happy experience. The hotel facilities and decor have been upgraded in the last couple of years and everything is excellent. The room are comfortable and staff make every effort to be helpful. The location is fantastic, just a ten minute walk from the beach or from the center of town, also very close to the "tirgus", the lively, bazaar-like Liepaja market. The breakfast buffet is a cut above the usual with an effort made to vary foods each day.

No problems, no complaints.

I was unable to set the app for charging EV since the app did not send code to Croatian phone number, but receptionist was really helpful, and even called the owner, and charged me trough their app. Very helpful staff.

EV charger does not like Croatian phone numbers. Also, setting up app every time one reaches a new hotel is not the thing you want to do when you arrive to the hotel. Thankfully, staff was extremely helpful and resolved the issue.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, they allowed me to check-in after the listed times as my flight was delayed and waited to greet me with my room key. They also allowed me to leave my bag in storage the next day for no additional fee. The room was also very clean and spacious with air conditioning which many buildings in Latvia lack.

Nothing. It can be a little difficult to find late at night though.

We stayed at the room with a city view/ balcony and it was a really comfortable stay. I was especially impressed that every day the housekeeping would leave 2x bottled water, which is a really nice touch. I visit Liepāja quite often and this was one of the best places I've stayed at.

The toilet kept running after flushing. We informed the reception about it, but it did not really get fixed.

Handy backyard parking and location close to planned activities. Kind staff in reception and their explanations. Comfortable bed and room temperature. Clean bathroom and proper water pressure in shower.

I think that the optional breakfast price is too high a little but I could also be wrong not knowing the cost.

Hotel Kolumbs is located just 10 mins walk from the beach, it’s located in some quite neighbourhood where you can have a good sleep too. Hotel room looked 100% as in the photos. We really liked the breakfast in the hotel, very nice and tasty. Thanks a lot for the stay.

Hotel is a bit expensive.

I had a double room on the second floor, close to the cross-road yet there was nearly no noise in the room (with window closed). The air conditioning worked very well and we needed it for sleeping because August 2022 was a quite unusual hot summer for Latvia. The room and the bathroom were very clean and the bed comfortable. The availability of the minibar was appreciated. The Wifi worked well. People at the reception spoke good English and did their best in answering our questions. The hotel has an internal free park lot (actually a fenced piece of land) which was good to avoid paying for street parking.The hotel is ideally located a few blocks from the main city park (a real wood by the sea!) where several cafes and restaurants are located. Through the park, you have access to the major city beach, which has free showers and offers stunning sunset views. The hotel is two blocks away from open-air market, which allowed us to buy some fresh local fruit and other food (we recommend the nearby Kafe Lotte for breakfast and light lunch, with good prices and local Latvian style). The hotel has also an internal restaurant which unfortunately we did not try but was rated very good by other guests. All in all - although not a 5-star high-tone hotel - I definitely recommend this hotel

There was nothing really negative. The only odd point is that people at the reception were not very informed about some typical touristic sites (e.g. Redans) but there were tourist information brochures available in several languages and that was enough for us.

We loved having a balcony to sit on. Not only was my partner able to smoke out there, we would often sit out there in the evening and early mornings talking. Since many place in Europe don't have elevators it was nice to have one.

Refrigerator space is to small. Most of the fridge is the motor. The sauna and whirlpool price is a little high for 2 people (60 euros for 2 hours) but you can have upto 10 people so for a larger group it is nice. The pool table is part of the banquet area so if a banquet is going on you can not use it. I thought it would be in a game room or bar that you could use when free. The outlet on my side of the bed was not usable because the bed covered completely, I had to charge my phone on the other side of the room which was inconvenient for me.

Air conditioning

Breakfast-the price did not match the breakfast offer. There was not dark bread, yogurt, fruits, juice, more choice in cheese and meat to put on bread. Inconvenient dishes to display omelettes, pancakes - there was nowhere to put the lid and the lid was heavy.

Great location, clean, comfy and friendly staff.

Air conditionier in our room broke down, but anything was done to fix it up during our stay. It was pretty hot during the night, so its quite dissapointing that this kind of problem during summer was ignored.
