The staff were absolutely great. We arrived in a torrential rain, which was quite unexpected for the area. Nonetheless the young man who checked us in rolled up his sleeves and helped us slog through the water to our room with vast amounts of baggage. We were staying the week and had brought a full size cooler to supplement our meals, as otherwise we would have had to go out for everything we desired to eat or drink, except water. He stepped up again after the rain had made deep furrows in the road, making it difficult to drive. He suggested we park at the top of the hill at a sister property until it was clear there would not be a complete washout while we were there! And again we were assisted when we checked out a week later, stopped for another bag of ice for our cooler, and our car electronics went haywire. Eventually everything shut down, this in a town without a mechanic... We contacted the property to ask if they could suggest a tow truck option to the nearest large town 45 minutes away, but instead they sent out one of the administrators. He checked our battery, it was nearly dead. He provided a charge, the electronics returned to normal, and we were on our way. Really above and beyond expectations! The location was fantastic, right on Mermejita Beach and easily walkable to two other beaches nearby, Our room looked across a small garden directly onto the surf. We could also sit on an elevated terrace directly overlooking the beach where we could watch the evening surfers, and sunsets. The pool was pristine and very welcome in the heat and humidity. I do not know how we could have withstood the heat had we not had that pool available to cool ourselves down. Our room was large and attractive. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We mostly just used the ceiling fan, but a few times when we turned on the a/c it cooled quickly, quietly, and efficiently. A restaurant is onsite, available all day, except on Friday.

The room was just that. A room. No coffee maker, no TV (which we never turn on anyhow, but others might miss it), no microwave or any way at all to make or reheat one's own snacks or light meals.

This was a lovely peaceful stop for us to sit back and rest and enjoy. Directly on the beach we truly felt we had 'got away from it all'. Breakfast, drinks, snacks and evening meal were available and were delicious.

Our room was on the first floor and we wish this could have been avoided as there were already steps on the property. There was no hand rail to get in and out of the pool and we would have preferred to have had that safety feature, however-I did just put a chair close by to steady myself! Personally I could have done without the music that was played in the bar area-not necessary.

Quiet and peaceful except for the construction it was going on next-door. However, you can’t really stop progress. It looks like it’s going to be another beautiful beach property. This is for Mexico and I think it’s a more reasonable price because it’s a little bit out of Mazunte. It’s not perfect but the service is excellent and it’s pretty close to perfect. The pool is magnificent and a welcome rest from getting beaten up in the waves of the ocean.! It’s very relaxing and there’s lots of lounge chairs for anyone who wants the lounge.

There’s really nothing I didn’t like, but one needs to be prepared that it is a walk up a pretty good sized hill, and back down the other side of it to get into the commercial touristy part of Mazunte and to get to the beach in Mazunte. You could spend all your time at the hotel, but it would be remiss to not enjoy the town as well and the beach there is lovely. You can take taxis if you aren’t up for the walk which can be very hot but if you’re a reasonable fitness level it’s not too difficult.

The location of Casa Ofelia is exceptional. Right on the Mermejita beach below Punta Cometa with a fabulous view of the sunset. The rooms were spacious, the pool was big enough to swim laps (very unusual), the restaurant had great food. Our room had an ocean view++ & a big terrace++.

We had a lot of mosquitos & there were no mosquito nets over the bed. One of the screens in the bathroom was open & we both got lots of bites. Recommended to the staff that they fix it. But they should also add nets over the bed. And a hammock on the terrace would have been great.

The location was spectacular with direct access from the room to the gorgeous Mermejita beach - no need to wear shoes during your whole stay! The pool was facing the ocean, very clean and big enough for a swim. Our room was very spacious and had a nice view of the jungle from one side and a terrace facing the beach. The beds were comfortable and the room was nicely decorated with mosaic paintings and wooden furniture. If you are looking for a quiet stay in wild nature with direct sunrise and sunset views, then this is a great spot.

The price/value ratio is unfortunately not satisfying - the hotel is overpriced for the amenities and services it offers. It is understandable that the location on the beach is a bonus, but if they are charging these rates, the quality of the service definitely needs to be improved. The food in the restaurant has potential for improvement, the loungers at the pool could be more comfortable, and more attention to detail and a friendlier attitude should be in place.

We booked two rooms as we traveled with my parents. The rooms are large and nicely appointed with huge comfortable beds, excellent wifi, desk in the room if you want to work and big roomy bathrooms with plenty of space to store your things. Mermejita beach is amazing, so quiet and stunning, feels almost private as you may find yourself completely alone. We loved watching the sunset each night, body surfing the waves in the morning and admiring the view all day long and staring at the stars late at night. The free carafes of water in the room is an appreciated touch. The downstairs room facing the ocean is great, excellent value! Overall the property is absolutely lovely, better than expected and we'd stay again in one of the downstairs rooms.

The breakfast was good but very expensive. You get charged for milk for the coffee and for coffee refills which seems a bit stingy considering the price of the hotel room & price of the meal. They only offer french fries & guacamole in the evening. We booked two rooms, one on the ground floor, one upstairs. The upstairs room was more expensive and not worth the cost as the room is hotter than the one downstairs (we stayed in 4 hotels over a month and this room was the only one where we had to put on the a/c). Also the balcony is practically unusable as there's no cover / protection from the sun. The view from the room is pleasant but not remarkable enough to justify the added cost. I'd 100% go back to Casa Ofelia but only for the downstairs rooms.

The place is right on the beach, with a large terrace/restaurant and a decent pool. Rooms are spacious and the private terrace provided a fabulous sea view.

The electricity was sometimes failing and the internet was outright slow. The restaurant is not recommended. We ordered a simple breakfast, which took more than an hour to serve, with only seven other people in the restaurant who had ordered equally simple items. When finally they served our food, it was already cold.

Amazing place at a quiet beach Mermejita. The swimming pool was amazing and beautiful. Food was great and service was good! We really enjoyed it here!

It is quite a walk to the city center of Mazunte (10-15 minutes), but we didn't mind cause then at least we would get some exercise after all the chilling at the pool. :) Also, even though we thought everything was very beautiful and good, I would say it is still a bit on the expensive side for what you get.

Casa Ofelia is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed in my life. The rooms are huge and have gorgeous original wood work and mosaic art, beautiful views, and great facilities—hot water and cold AC! The pool is incredible, somehow it stays cool even when it's sweltering outside. It's also incredibly peaceful—I really appreciated the effort to maintain the vibe, which inspires a connection to nature as you can hear the uninterrupted power of the surf. The food is home cooked and so so delicious. Raquel and her staff are so kind and provide the most exceptionally hospitable experience anyone could ask for. I absolutely love the location as it's away from the noise and parties of the town. But it wouldn't be for everyone, since it's a short walk up a hill from where all the stores are. Raquel is so kind and will make your stay super pleasant if you don't have everything you need when you arrive—she even picked up sunscreen for me! But just something to know so you aren't surprised by it's remoteness. I was more than happy to get my steps in and take the walk when I needed to go into the town, for me it was a totally acceptable exchange for the beauty and peacefulness of this hotel!

Nothing! It was perfect!!!!

The location was great right on the beach. We loved the people. The day person was personable and sweet. She didn't speak English but used her translation program on her phone to make sure we were communicating. The woman in the restaurant was accommodating and makes fantastic margaritas. The room was very nice and the decor was very beautiful with tables and furniture made locally and mosaic wall hangings, the exterior also was very decorative and the pool a relaxing place to spend an afternoon. Setting tathe outside cafe area and having the scenery of the ocean was a definite bonus.

The manager had dogs and they were friendly but at night they barked and howled and kept us awake into early morning. The food at breakfast was passable but not great. We had a friend staying a short distance away and she was not allowed on the property, not even to buy breakfast or a cup of coffee, no exceptions. Beach was a great place to walk, lay in the sand or to get wet by the incoming waves. But it is not a swimming beach as the waves and current are to strong to swim.
