Descalzo is a great hotel right on the beach. The room is good-sized and comfortable. The room is beach modern with the right balance of amenities and simplicity. This was my second time staying at Descalzo and it met our expectations. We had a second floor room both times - I like the balcony. The first floor rooms have a larger porch area. I like that the hotel is just set back a little from the beach- by just a few feet. There is a nice restaurant in front on the beach that has good breakfast and lunch. In the evening there is a bar there that has good drinks. The pool is good, nice sized and just off the main area.

There is a restaurant/ bar that is near the hotel that plays loud music that can be heard- until about 12 or 1 most nights.

Everyone on the staff was friendly and attentive both in person and by text. The cabins was roomy and quaint - just what you want from a Mexican beach town. The ceiling fan provided a cool enough breeze to sleep by, so there was no need for air conditioning. The location is perfect - right on a nice part of the beach with an excellent cafe and cocktail bar next door Organic soap and mosquito repellant. Overall, it's a very good value for the money if you are looking for an affordable alternative to places like El Alchemista.

There are some night clubs right next door that play loud music until 3 am. But I wore earplugs and had no problem sleeping. Also there are a lot of mosquitos that are hard to avoid.

Beautiful large bungalows hidden in a lush garden, steps from the beach. The bungalows are nice & expansive. I was worried about the lack of AC, but it really wasn’t an issue for sleeping - there is a lot of natural ventilation through the wooden slats on the windows/doors & a powerful fan. Great porch area with a hammock for lounging. Recommend their beach bar & the hotel massages!

Amazing location and situation. It has a lovely layout with easy access to the beach and a beautiful pool in a jungly setting alongside the various buildings. The interior of our room was super lovely, really nice design. The baths are huge and amazing. The ribs at the beach restaurant were excellent!

There were fans in the rooms but given the heat and humidity it would be great to have an aircon option. However the shutters don’t entirely close so appreciate it wouldn’t be very economical.

It was very close to the beach, facilities are super nice and clean, and hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

In theory it should be a place to relax, but unfortunately our last nights were almost impossible to get some sleep since there are few beach clubs that are very close to the hotel and one night especially they had music and base so high until 5am and was very bad experience. Unfortunately hotel can’t fight it much but they stepped in and changed our room to be a bit further from the beach club.

This hotel was recommended by friends who had previously stayed here and it did not disappoint. We loved having an upstairs room with a large, thatched roof. The location in the middle of the beach was perfect. We were concerned about noise at night mentioned by other travelers so we requested a room in the back (#10). After arrival, we thought maybe a room with a beach view would be better, but we ended up liking our location so we stayed. The worst night for noise was Saturday, but the other nights were no problem. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed a week in December and will stay here again! Pool was too cold to use and never saw anyone in it. We used the bar and restaurant in front of the hotel several times. Wifi worked fine.

A small refrigerator in the room would be helpful. Not sure the hotel can do anything about the nearby bar noise, which is unfortunate. Keep the morning coffee, please, or add a coffee pot to each room.

This was my second time staying there. Hotel is on the beach literally my view from room was the ocean. There are mosquitoes at night so beware. The pool is very handy because the ocean has very big treacherous waves.

The only negative is the loud music you can hear at night from the surroundings...bar across the street and club down the street. One night in bed I felt as if I was on the dance floor that is how loud the music is. So if you have issues sleeping bring ear plugs you will need them.

Lovely room, hammock, swinging chair on the balcony, window that opens right up to see the view and get the breeze. Large comfortable bed, with mosquito net, great pool, right on the beach, restaurants and cafes very close. If I ever come back, I would stay here again.

If you don't like the sound of music and people talking and whooping, this propably isn't the place for you...it didn't bother me. Also more light might have been useful.

Third time I stayed at this hotel. The room was amazing, the location is amazing and having a pool is quite convenient when the waves are too big in the ocean. It was actually very quiet this year, the bars around did not have loud music. That's a big bonus to sleep and wake up with the sound of the waves.

Nice room with a comfortable canopy bed, big tub, and separate shower. You can go from the swimming pool area to the beach with a few steps. The staff is great, always willing to assist with any request.

It was not an issue for me, but there is not a TV in the room.
