we had no warm water and they didn’t want to give us a discount. also the neighbourhood is a bit sketchie, many drunks and drugies. hard bed.

The receptionist was really nice. The breakfast was really comprehensive The hotel was really worth every penny we paid and we would definitely recommend it to everyone looking for a cheap place to stay with high value!

If you prioritise gym, this is not your place. There were no proper place to hang out in the hotel

I liked the location that is much quieter than the downtown historical part of Puebla: NO traffic noise at night. Some guests have said that the location is inconvenient, but there is very frequent public transport from downtown, if a guest doesn’t want to walk a couple of kilometres. To go to, and from, the downtown area, I found that the No.18 local bus is perfect: very frequent until late at night. To come TO the hotel from the city centre, the bus runs along Avenida 9 Oriente. As soon as it crosses Blvd Héroes, there is a stop, and another further along (just past Calle 12 Sur, where the hotel is). To go FROM the hotel, TO downtown, the No.18 bus runs along Avenida 11 Oriente (just a block away from the hotel). An advantage of the hotel's location is that it is in walking distance (about 15 minutes) of Mercado Municipal La Acocota. In my opinion (after staying 8 months in Puebla), that is the best market in Puebla, for buying fruit and vegetables - even fresh figs and raspberries. It's not a market where tourists go - although there are plenty of interesting things available for souvenirs - and the stall holders never cheat you: if you are buying 3 bananas and the price is 7 pesos, you'll get given 3 pesos change from 10 pesos. There is also an excellent coffee shop very close to the hotel. Search on Google Maps for Tarlets Coffee, and you'll see one branch that's just a couple of blocks away from the hotel. Finally, on the weekends, there is a terrific variety of stalls in the park just around the corner (to Avenida 7) from Hotel Escala.

I have marked down the lighting because, although the electric lighting is adequate - especially at night - there is very little daylight entering the room I was in. That is because the room opens to a roofed courtyard, where there is natural daylight but not enough to bring daylight into the room for (for example) reading or writing. I used to keep my door open, whenever I was in the room, and sit near the open door. However, there is a cafe at the front of the property that is mostly used only for breakfast, and there is good daylight there. So, with plenty of tables and chairs, in (and near) the cafe, that is a good space to read and write during the day.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and the room have a big TV with English programmes!

The location is close to the centre, however the hotel is quiet isolated on the street, would be wary of walking home late, get an Uber instead! The wifi was patchy at times.

The hotel area looks great and everything seems new, the same for the rooms. Very clean and had one of the hottest showers I've seen. The staff is very friendly, available 24h at reception and willing to help with anything. Location is very convenient, close to the center although the actual street has some worn down buildings which don't look too nice. Would go back if in Puebla.

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large, clean, had a fridge AND tv channels in English! Huge plus for a solo traveler in a foreign country. The wifi worked well. The shower was hot and had strong water pressure.

I was a bit worried about the location as it was surrounded by derelict buildings and sketchy looking people. A bit off the beaten track. No restaurants close by BUT just 2 blocks away the BEST street food I had in Puebla!

Check-in was very pleasant due to Angelica, who speaks English very well. Although the neighborhood looks a little scary, don’t let that put you off: this is a well-run little gem of a hotel with clean rooms and a relaxed atmosphere for the budget traveller.

Wi-fi signal was very weak, both in our room and in the lobby/restaurant area, so they need some improvement here. If the neighborhood could cooperate in keeping the trash cleared away from the derelict building on the corner, it would go a long way towards making the place seem much more desirable.

The receptionist was super nice and the breakfast was convinient. Overall vibe was also great and place was very comfortable and tidy.

The neighborhood was a bit scary in the dark and sometimes there was some barking of the dogs in the night, which disturbed the sleeping a bit.

Jesus Ariel was a great concierge. He helped me navigate the city. The place was clean and the bed very comfortable. It was about 10 minute walk from the main center. I had no issues walking late at night.

Everything matched the pictures. Plenty of hot water. The breakfast was good with several options. Lots of parks and recreation within easy walking distance. Most of all, the staff were very friendly and willing to help with any questions I had about the area.

The wifi signal was weak on the 3rd floor where I stayed. It was great everywhere else on the property.
