Everything! The room, number 31, was a fantastic loft (bed over the bathroom), simplistically designed, and elegant. The staff was smiley, welcoming, and helpful. The courtyard is gorgeous, and judging by the busy evenings, the restaurant serves good food. The location was a short walk to the harbor, but on a more calm but centralized street. The price was fantastic for what we got. I could live there.

The bathroom didn't have a door, so it was a bit awkward with my partner, we had to move a chair in front of the staircase to block the view. There was a nice terrace in front of the room, so you could always wait outside. 😉

I loved staying at this beautiful Riad. The staff were great, very helpful, and I loved sitting in the open courtyard enjoying the scenery while drinking a glass of wine or having my morning breakfast. The location is ideal in the medina and it felt like a sanctuary. I tried their Hammam and had a massage - good experience. I ate several dinners there and the food was great. My room was cozy; there was a heavy soft blanket and a great little space heater. It was plenty big enough for me as a solo traveler. They made my bed every day and brought me fresh towels, which I actually didn't need, but it was nice! I'd stay here again without hesitation! Oh, and there is an awesome orange and white cat 😺 that lives here who I adored and...I added one extra night to extend my stay in Essaouira

As others have mentioned it is very close to 3 loudspeakers for the call to prayer and so yes, it's very loud, but I got used to it and I fell back to sleep after it was over. I actually love it because for me, it's part of the experience of being in a Muslim country. The doors open and close very loudly and I could hear people cough or sneeze, so the walls are not very thick ..but for me it was a minor inconvenience to stay in such an old and lovely place!

Great location right in the middle of the Medina but very quiet (I was there during Ramadan so it was perhaps quieter than usual). Spacious room, nice and clean. Traditional style of building, very charming. Lots of German and French retirees :)

The bathroom is inside the room with no windows to the outside - I was there in winter and it was already quite humid. In summer I can imagine it gets very humid. Having a water scraper to clear excee water could help. And a bathmat outside the bathroom so you can dry your feet when you come out (as shower is open to the bathroom). Breakfast could be a bit more exciting - there are lots of options but bread a bit stale and quality of produce not so high.

Breakfast was excellent. Although I thought it was included in the price when I booked. However it was only 5 euros each. The Riad was really beautiful and the roof top space had a few secluded corners. Rooms were comfortable and well equipped including extra blanket and electric radiator had we needed.

The wifi wasn't very strong once in your room. Booking.com made it look like breakfast was included, but it wasn't.

Riad al Madina was a little oasis right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle - we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The staff were helpful and attentive throughout our stay even down to arranging our transfers from and back to the airport. Essaouira did not disappoint and we’re glad we chose this lovely coastal resort to experience Morroco as it is definitely much more chilled and relaxed compared to Marrakech.

A beautiful interior courtyard gave a tranquil space to relax and unwind after being in the bustling medina. The roof terrace was a great place to sunbathe and watch the streets below.

We stayed in two different rooms during our visit, and neither were exactly as advertised- it’s hard to tell from the photos what the room will be like and where it is in the riad.

The Riad Al Medina completely exceeded our expectations! The central souk location could not be beat -right in the middle of everything! The facilities are gorgeous! The courtyard is stunningly beautiful. The comfortable rooms are each individually well decorated. Housekeeping comes every day with fresh sheets, towels, TP and soap. Anything extra you might need: just ask! The staff are amazing! Especially Ms. Malika, at the front desk. She was so incredibly helpful with arranging all of our excursions and answering our numerous questions. ALL the staff were outstanding! We highly recommend staying here and would definity return!!

We loved Riad al Medina, such a nice room, so private yet right in the heart of the medina. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the windows were completely sound proof from the street below. The bath was an unexpected delight, so huge i could lay flat in it. (5ft4 )The staff were extremely accommodating and always attentive and helpful when needed. We also enjoyed a very nice meal one evening too on the lovely indoor patio dining room.

The location was excellent and the staff were friendly , informative and helpful. It was a very attractive riad.

After travelling from Marrakech, a mint tea as a welcome would have been nice in fact I was surprised it wasn't offered. The rooms vary a lot and some things do not work, like a socket and the TV in my first room. When there are only two sockets and it is really cold, it is difficult to prioritise, light over heat over recharging etc etc with only one socket. It took a very long time to get hot water too, but a move to a room on the first floor helped a lot. I hadn't realised how cold it would be at night and in the morning at this time of year, because the riad is open inside so the cold us sll around you, but it us a lovely place and in summer it must be lovely and cool in the hot weather.
