We rented a self catering cottage with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bath, the house was clean, well furnished and comfy, especially the beds were very comfortable. The house was decorated with artifacts from the past. There was A/C in the bedrooms and a patio with a braai complemented the house, in addition to a terrace on the east side. A great place to watch birds and other wildlife, we observed springbock and oryx. On the property was a restaurant, a nice pool (I made frequent use of) and an old Kalkofen. The owner was a member of the Lithops society and a Lithoparium on the grounds showed hundreds of species of the plant. There were also several walks one could take, if it was not too hot. The restaurant offered excellent food, 3 course dinners or delicious lunches with view of a water hole where wildlife congregated to drink in the evening.
The only problem we had occurred in the evenings when we tried to air the house from the heat of the day. There were no fly screens in front of the windows or doors. As soon as the sun set big moths would fly into the house, this was annoying. Fly screens would be helpful, or changing the light bulbs from bright white to yellow, moths are not attracted to yellow light.

Our self catering chalet was very well equipped, very clean and comfortable. Beds were also very comfortable and shower was very functional and pleasant. We could park the car at our chalet. The pool was also very inviting and well maintained. The natural garden and especially Frikkie's Lithops (Living Stone) collection is huge and so interesting and very special. The dinner as well as the breakfast was divine and presented with so much love and care. It was well above our expectations. Thank you Hilde, Janco and all the other staff members. You were amazing.
Nothing to say!

Beautiful surrounding, small stoep T the room with view over the veld and waterhole (springbok and ostrich). Lovely restaurant, nice food. We only stayed one night but would like to come back for a few more nights. Pool looked beautiful. The rooms were lovely decorated with wonderful inventive details. The display of all the Lithops of Namibia is definitely worth to visit!
I would like to recommend those Canadian deck chairs chairs for on the stoep

The place is a jewel in the middle of nowhere but had every comfort. It was quirky and imaginative and the attention to detail was absolutely perfect. We wanted to meet Hilde to chat about her lithops but was unfortunately away. Frikkie looked after us so well. We had a perfect and restful time in the wonderful chalets. Lots of wildlife and the largest flock of guinea fowl. Highly recommended for the excellent food (both dinner and breakfast) and the attentive staff. We missed a scenic drive as a sandstorm was blowing but meant we had more time to enjoy the room.
Nothing. We should have stayed two nights!

Our visit to Alte Kalkoefen Lodge was a highlight of our Namibia trip. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming, making us feel at home from the start. The lodge exceeded our expectations in comfort and cleanliness. Another highlight is definitely the food they serve. Suuuuper delicious! The genuine friendliness of everyone there was remarkable. A special touch was receiving a jar of their delicious relish at departure, a favorite of ours during the stay.

Everything was amazing! Friendly staf, beautiful views. I did a small walk in the park and was really lucky! I even saw 3 girafes. It’s bad for the place and animals that it hasn’t been raining for 3 years. We hope there will be some rain and grass again. Thanks a lot and good luck with your beautiful place and the plant nursery

This was an very nice lodge, off the beaten track in an interesting location. The host was exceptionally welcoming and friendly and the staff were extremely helpful. We had dinner and breakfast and the food and service was excellent. The buildings were full of interesting features. W could see game from the verandah.
Nothing in particular.

Alte Kalkofen has to be one of the best places we have stayed in Namibia. The lodge was just so well designed down to the smallest detail. Re-use of materials makes it such a unique place. The food too was excellent. The Lithops greenhouse is definitely worth a visit. Exceeded all expectations. 100% recommended.

Alte Kalkoffen is the definition of an hidden gem. Located in the middle of almost nowhere, the views are stunning, you can spot easily springboks, oryx, mangooses, birds. The care Frankie and Hilde put in every details is unbelievable. Our rooms were spotless: they care every little details. The food is amazing and abundant. You should consider adding it to your itinerary in Namibia if you haven't!

Beautiful stay, we saw springbokke and Oryx under the tree where the water hole is. There is a large collection of Lithops to photograph and a hiking trail. The food is an absolute must, be hungry as it is gracious portions and extremely delicious and there is a wide variety. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful. The wifi absolutely great! The old rusted decor look is beautiful to take photos of.
