The owner was very welcoming, helpful and friendly...we were able to wash our clothes and dry them on the line... he recommended places to visit and ways to travel to our next destination. The unit was clean, tidy and well set up. We even had lollies left for us! Plenty of teabags and the bonus of a hob to cook on. It had a good range of cooking pots, pans etc, and utensils. The shower was great too! The TV had a wide range of channels and parking convenient just outside our door.

We had a comfortable room - spacious and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and the shower was strong and hot. Our bed was comfy too. The area was quiet so we had a restful sleep after a long day. Big parking space outside our room. No fuss check-in and check-out. A short walk and you can have a great meal at "Hit The Spot".

Cant tell you how much we loved our stay here. Owners were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Facilities were superb, we had stayed at some rather uncomfortable places on our trip and were in heaven! Balclutha does not really have a lot of sights to see but was well located at the end of our Catlins tour.

Staff attending to us was very helpful and friendly. Truly appreciated that. Shower area and toilet had a wall separation. That was helpful.

Wish there was a heater in the bathroom. Weather was very cold during my stay. Mattress was a bit of soft to my liking.

Lovely comfortable accomodation. Had everything we needed. Great host. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. No charge for washing machine, powder also supplied. Nothing a bother to the host.

The staff were very helpful and the coffee was unlimited, not just restricted to packets! Even filter coffee ☕️, also a nice touch was the sweets on the side. Even the toiletries were a nice touch, individual ones!

Everything! The bed was more comfortable than our own! We fell asleep almost the minute our heads touched the pillows!

There was nothing not to like!

We used the hotel for two nights and it was in general very good. We thought there may be nose from neighbours but all quietened down early. I found the bed a little hard but not a serious issue. The hosts were great.

Well hot weather in the South Island was not under the control of the hotel, but there was no AC. At east we could have an air flow through the unit without due noise issues.

Being in the back unit away from the road was good. The size of the unit was great.The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The shower over the bath was poor. The couches were uncomfortable.

Little touches, paper wrapped lollies, plunger coffee with plunger and less use of packaging with the instant coffee and sugar in containers, love that. Very clean and warm. Large room at ground level. Comfortable nights sleep.
