We had 1 night in an executive studio. It was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately it was a rainy day in Franz Josef so our lovely room with fire and underfloor heating was brilliant. It was really good to sit out on our deck and look at the rain in the beautiful garden. The lady in reception was very welcoming and helpful. The room had everything we needed and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel is really close to everything with lots of restaurants nearby and walking distance to the supermarket.

I arrived late to the hotel as I was driving from Queenstown and I was a bit scared for a second as I’ve seen the “closed” sign on the door but on the other hand, they have written my name with an envelope - provided with all the details of my accomodation and keys. So, everything was already organised when I arrived at the hotel. They have also given me a free upgrade which was very thoughtful for me and unexpected. I asked them why I was given a free upgrade - their response was “you’ve written a comment that you wanted a nice view.” I don’t really bother if I get a fancy room view but given to this opportunity, I was amazed by their customer service. We left early at the hotel as we have a helicopter booking, so I came back to the hotel and sorted everything such as signing my details on the paper and so on. Everything was smooth. I haven’t got her name at the reception but she was so lovely, I thanked her for the free upgrade and I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. The room is perfection - honestly it is beyond my expectations. Yet, they have an affordable accommodation rates. Thank you everyone! I couldn’t thank them all! 10/10

This was a big surprise, a really good one! Our room was very spacious with a gorgeous view of greenery outside the large windows. It was very well appointed, we could have cooked if required and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, the manageress/owner was very welcoming with a huge smile, we felt instantly at home. The Punga Grove is within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants, as well as the wildlife centre, which is a must visit.

Punga Grove was a great place to stay. The staff were very friendly and the location is only a street away from the main street. Our apartment was big enough for our family with 2 adult kids. Having a little lounge room was great and the kitchen was handy to have for our breakfast. We didn’t use the cooking facilities. The split level worked well enough if you go to bed at the same time. The little alcove feels like you are in the middle of the forest, very cute!

We stayed in one of the bigger rooms (executive suite) in the back of the complex (the room had a name as opposed to the units with numbers) and it was luxurious! The view of the rainforest right off our porch, high vaulted ceilings in the room, heated mattress topper, fireplace which heated the whole room very fast, and massive bathroom with tub. I could go on about this stay as it was one of my favourites on our road trip. I do wish we stayed longer here has the accommodation was so comfortable. Very clean and quiet.

Lovely rooms, nice and warm when we arrived on a cold rainy day. Was very inviting. Was very clean,very spacious, which was ideal as we had our 2 grandsons with us.

An extractor fan above bench hobs would be useful. The main thing we thought could be improved was the couch wasn't very comfortable to sit on. Unfortunately this was the fourth bed, which my 10 yr grandson slept on, he found it very uncomfortable to sleep on, I also lay on it and it wasn't great.

There was a boil water notice in place for the entire town. When we checked in, the man at the reception didn’t say anything about it. If it hadn’t been for the waitress at the restaurant at night, we would have filled our water bottles and drunk the (bad/unsanitary/unsafe) tap water during our hike the next morning. It seems like the individual checking us in to the hotel should have said something. I was very disappointed about that.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, giving advice, loaning us umbrellas when it rained, and even posting a precious item I accidentally left behind. The rooms were lovely, warm, private, comfortable and clean with beautiful green leafy outlooks and cute outdoor patios. The beds were mostly very comfortable. The kitchenette was very handy for making some basic healthy home made breakfasts and lunches for us and the kids. The location was a nice short stroll to restaurants and services. The rainforest/ glacier view walks were beautiful. We had a great stay.

The sofa bed was serviceable for the kids, but not overly comfortable, and the shower was slightly temperamental.

The room was spacious and had a gorgeous little patio surrounded by greenery. The hotel staff were very friendly and happy to guide us on the local spots to eat/drink and all of the different glacier walks. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of blankets to keep us warm during the cold night.

The only thing I would change is maybe adding an extra light to the room as it was a bit dim once the sun set but I appreciate that the hotel was eco-friendly 😊

The motel is situated amongst native bush, which gives it a peaceful and secluded feel while still being just a short walk from the township and its restaurants. The room itself was very large and inviting, with a big and comfortable king-size bed, a cozy gas fireplace that the staff kindly turned on for us on the wet afternoon of our arrival, and a comfortable leather sofa to lounge on. The desk with a light was a nice touch as well. The small deck outside was surrounded by bush, which made it very private and enjoyable.

The limited coffee sachets supplied (3), and we had to ask for more, which seemed to annoy the staff member. Additionally, there was no compendium to help us figure out how things worked, we had to go back to the reception and ask for the wifi code. The wifi worked well.
