I was welcomed into a beautiful entrance lounge where a young boy with a gorgeous smile sat. His mother also came from her office and also greeted me with a beautiful smile and helped me get checked in. I was taken to the room we were staying for the night. All of the other rooms had doors open so we could see inside, I thought that was a nice touch for future stays. All of the furnishings were beautiful, I didn't see a space of dust, even the tv remote was clean. I stayed here 7 years ago it was nice then, and it's even more lovely now. Thank you for providing a safe space for families to stay and thank you for your genuine kindness 🙏 I look forward to staying again

On a recent 9 hotel visit to NZ this hotel was the cheapest yet up the top with the 3 "big name" hotels we used. My wife and I could not fault the room (named after a past NZ racehorse) nor the entry and general "feel" of the place. Unfortunately it was not well occupied (3 rooms all up) when we went which we found very surprising. That probably was the reason the restaurant and bar were shut. The bar was adjacent to the reception and it looked a very inviting place to relax after our drive from Wellington. I wish the proprietor a deservedly good future. It has free parking which is always welcome (although as a "smaller" NZ town possibly all the hotels are similar).

Very minor drawback was the distance from the main part of town but that is clearly not a problem for motorists.

Rupi is a wonderful host who takes the time to know your name. We loved the layout of the room and how cosy it was with the heat pump, which will be equally great in the summer weather to cool down. Brilliant shower and the bed was super comfy, which is a huge plus for us when away from home. The Gateway Moto Inn has a great feel when you walk in and you feel secure when coming in later in the evening with key fob access after hours. We enjoyed that each suite was named after a New Zealand race horse and we stayed in the Gloaming room. I highly recommend both Rupi and the lovely accomodation he offers. Thank you so much Rupi, you are the kind of host everyone hopes to have. We wish you all the success and hope to see you again.

Absolutely loved Gateway - we stayed in the "Bonecrusher" Room. Really warm, spacious and comfortable. Even though it is on State Highway 2, we didn't hear any road noise Definitely has a lot of character. Historically, structure was horse stables and rooms are named after champion thoroughbreds Breakfast was generous, warm and well-cooked. Rupi and other staff were really welcoming and helpful. Gateway will always be our first option for when we visit our best friends next time

Super Enjoyable Stay. Looks amazingly good when you enter the main door. Rupi Checked my arrival time and Room was kept so warm on arrival which hardly any motel will do in New Zealand. Very much safe for single ladies and families. Strongly recommend this place.

Exterior needs a bit refurbish but it is very much secondary thing. All was exceptionally good.

One guest overcooked the toast in the room, fire alarms went off and we were evacuated by the staff. Fire brigade trucks came in few minutes and set the alarm. Was impressed by the staff's spontaneous and caring action and attitude. Definitely safety of their guests is the first priority for them. Highly Recommend this place for everyone.

Rupi, Our host was fantastic, communication was perfect. The room was a nice size and the outside pergola/courtyard/ was nice to sit outside in the sun. Liked been on the outskirts of town. Easy drive in.

It would have been nice to sit in the bar for a evening drink. This was closed due to staff shortages. However this was already explained to us before arrival, so we just brought our own and enjoyed the outside area.

Stupendous Hospitality, Rooms are amazingly good, the bed the shower are top class. The shower best and heatpump is strong. The room was kept so Cosy and warm on our arrival, I wonder how many hotels do that, I believe hardly any. Strongly recommend this place. Will visit again for sure.

Our room was upgraded on arrival. Manager was very friendly and helpful. Motel was nice and quiet, close to supermarkets, restaurants. Very clean and nicely renovated, really liked the horse theme. Would definitely return.

Had a cooked breakfast, egg white was not fully cooked, wouldn't put me off going again, but maybe have some cooking practice

Bed was comfortable. There were french doors from the room going outside to a lovely private seating area. Good windows and external doors that let air circulate. Air conditioning unit to heat and cool. Good larger size cups for our morning coffee. Very friendly staff.
