We were upgraded to a suite with 2 king beds.A spacious clean room with a comfortable couch ,extra chair and a good size coffee table.A comfortable bed but fat pillows.The heat pump worked well.Good size TV with freeview channels and good reception.basic facitlities in kitchenette with a good size microwave.Plenty of electric points in room.Spacious clean bathroom with adequate supplies and good water pressure both hot and cold.Plenty of parking.Lovely friendly staff.

There was no table or chairs either inside room or outside as stipulated on our information page which made dinning on the coffee table while seated on couch not ideal.The TV controls kept jumping channels and there was no prime channel.No extra recepticles for using in microwave to cook or heat appart from plates.No other form of cooking available.There is no bread board or can opener.The pillows are mostly too fat.

Grand, spacious rooms named after famous NZ racehorses. Very comfortable beds and modern, well-appointed bathrooms. Room was wonderfully quiet and felt very secure. Common areas are currently under renovation and look like they will have an amazing almost country lodge feel. We travel to Masterton regularly to visit family and Gateway probably has the best rooms available in town. Most of the owners(?)/managers/staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.

There was no streaming service, and with a standard flatscreen tv, no ability to stream from our own devices - this would be the barrier to us staying at Gateway as a family. Wifi and mobile reception were also erractic but were possibly impacted by the extensive roadworks occuring in the area. Unfortunately the older man on the reception desk was rude at checkin (thankfully a lovely younger woman was there too!) and then said nothing when I dropped the key and thanked him for the stay. As a well-travelled, caucasian female I'd say cultural differences impacted his attitude to me. A shame as the others were all friendly and amazing.

Our rooms were both excellent. Well appointed and very comfortable. The highlight of our stay were the staff, Rupi and his wife were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. My two young daughters in particular loved the Gateway, and really that was down to the way we were looked after. There are lots of places with comfortable rooms, but not many places have staff that are so attentive. Will definitely be back.

We were upgraded to a large deluxe suite (at our cost) because original booking for 1 night in standard room could not be extended to two nights. Large tiled bathroom, luxury fittings, great water pressure in shower. Spacious living area. Plenty of pillows and cushions. Hosts were most gracious and helpful.

TV hung at droopy angle from wall - bracket needs adjustment. Several curtains didn't close properly because hooks at top broken; kitchen tap very loose on bench top; vanity sink slow to drain. Internet quite slow and sometimes intermittent. King bed mattress was past its use-by date - springs popped and squeaked.

The hosts, the comfortable king-size beds and the large room. It was tidy, fresh and clean. The shower was to die for. Good air conditioning and secluded outlook for privacy. The hosts were so lovely and helpful. Good location and good value for money. Have been there before and the stay was just as good as last time. Will come back again. Much nicer than the other hotels/motels along the strip. Boutique. Really good.

Very private rooms, great atmosphere, minimal interaction with others, splendid isolation. Beautiful rooms and grounds. Very relaxing

Traffic noise during the day as on main rd, but minimal at night. Being able to lock the exterior door from the outside would be great but understand security reasons may have been priority in design.

Room was spacious, well presented, comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was great! The amenities were perfect. The breakfast delivered to my room in the morning was more than ample. The gentleman checking me in was very gracious and accommodating.

Being on the main highway it was nosy though I did not realize the sliding windows were open. There was also a very strong smell of cigarettes, I am unsure if this was due to the age of the place or because the windows were open and ash was all over the courtyard. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open because of a lack of staff but it was no problem ordering food from Uber eats.

The best shower i have ever experienced, Absolutley no road noise , very comfy big beds , warm room. , We could see short cuts had been used following the covid down turn, not showing all its former glory perhaps . A very central spot to carterton and beyond ,also took a day trip to palmerston north and martinborough as they was also close at hand. Good selection of resturants nearby,and a cinema. Husband and i are in our late 50s.

Fresh stores required in hot drinks tray, the kitchen tap was wobbling off, a rubber mat is needed for the walk in shower as water splashed along way on very pretty, but slippery tiles. poor qualiy toilet paper.

Long way out of town and restaurant we were planning to have breakfast and dinner at is closed due to no staff. Lights very dim, difficult to read at night. Some of the grouting needs professional attention, the attempts made in bathroom and sink were not well done at all. Roadworksboutside hotel and lack of lighting on entry signage made the driveway difficult to see coming back from town.
