A very friendly, welcoming young lady greeted me on arrival. The room was lovely, large, and very clean. Comfortable bed. Loved the location - it was in a very tranquil setting. May not suit everyone as you need transport to drive to restaurants and shops. I stocked up in Oamaru before my stay. A very restful place to chill out. Take some reading material with you. TV reception?

Nothing. The title "Resort' could be misleading if you are wanting a swimming pool, gym, or restaurant facilities. For me it was a perfect place to unwind, after a very early morning international flight and drive from Christchurch, before starting my travels and catching up with family in NZ

Loved being abel to stay here! Lovely comfy beds. Generous space for the whole room. Great shower. Was pleasantly surprised by lack of noise. There was a wedding function being held. We were worried would be kept awake all night by loud music which you could hear in hallway. We are pleased to report nope- barely heard a thing once door closed to our room.

Wedding function - we felt bit strange walking round when wedding guests were there but it wasn't that bad at all. All over very happy with our stay.

The grounds and the building were beautiful and fun to explore. The room was large and very comfortable. Parking was free. The owner was lovely and very helpful.

The location was a little remote, meaning there was nothing nearby to walk to and there was no on-site restaurant. I think they will have one, but it wasn't open during our stay.

The best hotel or motel serving visitors to Oamaru. Modern, clean rooms and suites in a historic old building with a century-old chapel attached situated in large grounds. Ideal to hang out in for a day if you want a break from traveling, being quiet and picturesque.

Two issues, both of which actually add to the charm of the place. First, it's a 10-minute drive outside Oamaru and you get there on small country lanes off the main road. On your first visit, you can wonder what you're letting yourself in for as you navigate there between paddocks. Second, kids love running and yahooing along the big high-ceilinged corridors (great acoustics), so you're likely to get awakened around 7 am by juvenile stampedes.

Fantastic little place with a lot of atmosphere! the room had a lot of space, it was clean and super comfortable. The staff was amazing and welcoming, making us feel at hone, as every request was answered immediately. the internet was slow, but the hotel manager warned us before we even knew that there is a general issue related to the entire area, so it’s not the hotel’s fault. the AC a bit noisy, but it didn’t matter much as this hotel is a gem!

noisy AC needs repair and internet speed a bit problematic - but again, it is a problem out of the hotel’s hands.

It was lovely arriving there and exploring the history and how well it has been developed. It’s quite wonderful and it was very good to be there in the great bedrooms with a balcony and a lovely bathroom. Looking out over the gardens surrounding the main building is relaxing and very engaging in the outdoors with nature.

Nothing to dislike

Beautiful setting, comfortable room, excellent staff member. He welcomed us in, and took his time to show us around the grounds and the stunning chapel. He also told us about the history of the place. He also arrived at 3am to talk some sense into a loud partying group. He could have just rung them, we argued, but the man has his standards!

Hmmm.... Ah, shower over bath - not for me any longer, would have loved to have a proper shower!

The serenity, comfort, and history of the property made us feel both lucky and clever to have stayed tgere.

The heritage, old trees, and established orchard gave the place a sense of romance unmatched. If only we could get married again, we would do it there. Alas, once seems to have worked.

The location is lovely with a car if you don't need to be in a town - and not a long drive from shops etc anyway. It is a lovely building with pretty nice rooms. It seems to get used for tour groups as well as weddings etc - so it was really quiet when I was there but I suspect it also gets very busy!

lovely big rooms, wonderful outside space so we could walk around the grounds, the manager was amazing, he showed us around and spoke to us about the history of the place. The place is pet friendly so we may return so with our dog next time.

the walls are thin and we could hear people next door snoring, all the doors close with a very loud bang which is not great when people arrive late in the night
