This is conveniently situated hotel. A lovely open fire in the bar area. The room was very spacious, warm and comfortable. It was clean and everything was well cared for and in good working condition. The staff were very friendly - from the greeting at the main entrance to the lovely bar and restaurant manager. Also, very nice food and a comfortable bed.

It is a little dated with some surfaces showing signs of use over the years. However, everything worked just fine and it is well maintained. It will be stunning if it is ever renovated. The tinted glass at the main entrance makes it look closed and it's not the most welcoming of entrances, but once inside it's very nice.

The fact your receptionist rang us to advise that as we were running late that our room keys and room locations would be left on a note on the front door. Also to provide us with road conditions from Ashburton to Twizel that wevening. Also the expedient opening of my room with the broken off key which meant we arrived in Hanmer Springs in good time to enjoy bathing in the hots springs and be in good time to meet our dinner guests.

Large room with bath. Nice view and balcony. Breakfast was good and allergy friendly options were great. Free parking. Lovely staff. Liked that breakfast was included in rate. Excellent restaurant across the road if you don’t wish to dine at the hotel.

The powdered scrambled eggs at breakfast were not good. Didn’t love having to carry bags up the stairs. Received a wake up call at 6am that we did not schedule.

Breakfast was OK. I would consider replacing bacon and sausages as low quality. Coffee vile. Some fresh fruit and porridge would have been welcome . On the whole a reasonable selection.

Library room, fireplace and corridor(s) area were cold and uninviting. Would like to have seen a few more books and had a warm comfortable lounge/seating area in which to read.

Good, friendly reception, bar staff, fire great. Did not go into dinner as overrun with bus tour. Beds exceptional, only complaint is on entering it smelt very damb. Shower/bath unsuitable for me, marginally disabled on walking cane (as advised and observed by reception staff) needed my Sons help to get out, Geoff

Bathroom needs modernising .. Walk-In Shower or handle grips for elderly, immobile guests.

There were inexpensive food trucks only a block away. (The hotel also has a convenient buffet at their on-site restaurant but we weren't that hungry for a large meal). The property is well maintained. There was a small refrigerator in the room (but I think that is pretty standard in NZ).

This was a last minute booking to make our visit to Mount Cook that little bit easier. The hotel obviously plays to the coach travel market but for solo travellers we found it good though a little dated in decor. The staff however made up for everything as they were interested in us, attentive and very helpful.

Everything except the hot water situation was excellent. It was an added bonus that it snowed and the property was able to accommodate us for another night. Well stocked kitchen in which I was able to easily cook meals. TVs were available in every bedroom which the kids loved. Very comfortable couches and the house had a good supply of games to play. Will definitely stay here again.

The hot water wasn't working well. We were able to use the hot water in the shower for 1 minute before it went cold and the same for the tap in the kitchen. That was very disappointing. I am unsure whether the property had run out of gas for hot water or whether it was on a timer. To be fair we never reached out about this issue.

I like the big room we had - we got an upgrade. Plenty of space especially as we traveled as a couple. Beds were comfortable and we were very warm. Lots of parking available. It was easy to locate the hotel. We arrived after the reception was closed - the instructions and key access was easy to understand and made checking in simple.

We found the bathroom and bedroom suites themselves were very dated. The tv was advertised 'smart' but wasn't loaded with any apps. We ended up streaming from our phones instead. We had booked our stay to include breakfast which we later found out was no longer available due to staff shortage. We were refunded a little bit.

Key not easy to use, took a while every time. Did not empty bin until only one night left, and full as only one in bathroom. Could have gritted the paths and parking as very icy
