Although the hotel may seem simple and basic, it is very clean and well-equipped. Our sea view room was big, comfortable, had a balcony. Breakfast was delicious, staff were very friendly. Location is good too, 5 minutes drive from the lighthouse and directly next to a restaurant (which we would also highly recommend - big portions, delicious!). Overall, if you're coming to Sur for a visit, Al Ayjah Plaza is excellent.

The hotel was good. Nice big comfortable rooms. Nothing outstanding, but nothing bad to say. However the staff was great. To have someone wait in the dinning room for a little over an hour for when I wandered down to eat dinner (as I signed up for full board) says it all. Very nice and great food. The location is great, but in a spot where having your own vehicle is better than not, as it's a little bit away from the main town of Sur.

Nothing really bad to say. It's an older hotel and some amenities are a little dated, but you're in a small town in Oman.

Lots of parking, nice restaurant next door. In-house restaurant looked ok but was empty so we tried elsewhere. Fairly quiet, nice view, easy to access and close enough to walk to the city or the lighthouse. The receptionist gave us a little of their coffee to take away with us when we left, which was very sweet and a nice personal touch.

Fridge was up so high that it froze the food we put in it, and the water heater wasn't on when we arrived so had to take a cold shower. N.b. The mattresses are more towards traditional Arabic style (hard) so westerners be aware!

Very helpful staff in the reception, he arrange for us a early check-in on arrival day to another room. Rooms and bathroom are very large. Hotel is located in the corner of the city, behind the bridge, about 15 min by the walk to the city center. Only one issue - if you have a windows from room to the street there is a lot of noise during the day and also evening. In the front of hotel is butcher shop and locals come to the shop by car and by using the car horn they call the salesman.

Good hotel for one night, good position, closed to the nice bridge and beach. We overnighted there on the way from the "turtles" to Muscat. Nice and friendly staff. Simple dinner and breakfest buffet, but enough for us. You can walk to the Watch tower with nice view over the city and bay/s.

Nice large room with a sea view. Large bathroom. We could walk to visit the town although the hotel is located in Al Ayjah. Good restaurant just adjacent to the hotel.

The breakfast was very poor : not a buffet, only a limited choice, served in a large desolate empty room. The windows did not close properly so that it has been raining in the room during the night (however, it was a very strong thunderstorm).

I would improve both the quality of the bed (the mattress was so hard and uncomfortable) and improve the variety of the breakfast, which was quite limited during our staying.

Corner room with a nice view on the sea. Convenient location: walking distance to the Al-Ayjah Lighthouse, to the souq and to an excellent, local restaurant. Breakfast served on a wonderful terrace.

Staff were very helpful - especially carrying bags to room etc Location was convenient for exploring Sur

Breakfast was fine, but additional cereals (especially Muesli and All Bran) would have been appreciated
