It was tremendous fun to stay in a real castle. Everything was authentic from the well in the courtyard to the high tower and the dungeons with their spiral staircases. The staff were also wonderful….nothing was too much trouble! The bar was well stocked and the breakfasts and restaurant food in general were first class. The rooms were big and the beds comfortable.

Though this was not at all a problem for us, the hotel is only suitable for able bodied people due to the lack of lifts and uneven cobble stones. Younger children would need to be carefully supervised, but it would be great fun for older children.

Everything was spectacular. I have been looking forward to visiting this castle for a long time. Not only did we visit, but we slept here for one night. The whole experience is worth more than 5 stars and we shall definitely return. In comparison with Nidzicy Castle, this is far better and they allow you to explore many areas of the grounds. This is excellent for kids to learn and explore with a few attractions such as pig racing and the horror greenhouse with screaming plants. From an archaeological point of view, this castle has plenty to analyse from the stonework to the Medieval torture apparatus. We found that the people living and working in the town of Resel are very friendly and the staff at the castle are very welcoming. The gentleman host at the reception for hotel room bookings is extremely hospitable and explains everything clearly. The breakfast buffet was full of choice and the food very tasty, not forgetting to mention that the soups we had the day before were also full of flavour. If you are in this region then don't ignore this castle and the people.

This is my 3rd stay in this property. Huge improvement in WiFi area, which is not so simple to achieve in this type of building structure. The rest is almost as good as it was, which is a good thing for such an authentic place. Breakfast was very good. All my negative comments below are just suggestions, of how to make this great place to be even more successfull in the future.

Comparing to my last stay, the dinner was not as good. Presentation was excellent, but the fish dish was overdone. It also took too long to get an attention from the restaurant staff. Regarding the room, it would be great to have a mosquito net. It would be a cheap addition and would not destroy authenticity, comparing to air conditoneers, but bring the fresh air to the room.

Helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Great breakfast including good coffee. Good food and wine overall at the restaurant, we also had dinner there. We enjoyed visiting the dubgeon and the tower. Overall great experience staying in a real castle especially for the kids

There was no elevator, so we left our luggage in our car and just brought several necessities with us. Not really a problem, very understandable - it’s an old castle and we were aware that there is no elevator.

Great experience to stay in a castle. Staff was super friendly, even if you don't speak the local language. Onsite restaurant was also very convenient with some good dishes. The common area had a gorgeous fireplace, too. I would definitely recommend this place for someone looking to explore this part of the country.

The bed was in a mezzanine, which some people might find difficult to access. This might not be all rooms.

The castle is one of the Teutonic (Templar) knights castles, with an amazing history that we only learned about during our visit to the castle. The personnel was really flexible to our needs as we were traveling with kids. On our arrival, there was still enough time to visit the museum part. Tickets were included in the room's price. In any case, the visit of the museum of tortures in the castle dungeon and tower is worth to be planned even if you are not staying there. The next morning we had an amazing breakfast in the castle restaurant, and again we meet very kind and helpful personnel who were flexible to some needs of one of the children.

We loved everything: the first look at the castle, the kind gentleman at the ticket office giving the hotel guests special attention, smiling and lovely ladies at the reception, the unique atmosphere of the room, the unlimited visists to the castle (watching sunset from the tower is a must), caring staff at breakfast and even the charming little town of Reszel!

Just keep in mind that you enter the hotel together with the regular visitors. Tell the people at the ticket office the magic words ‘hotel guests’ and the unique experience starts!

Great location, just NW of the lake district and only 30mts from the Wolf's Lair. We stayed in the tower, which had 3 floors. The main courtyard has a little pizza bar, as well as their hotel restaurant and bar. Breakfast had so much variety and everything was very fresh. Take a tour of the torture room and prison area!

Lack of A/C. It got hot at night!

The hotel is located inside medieval castle! It is not luxury but for the price you pay it is an excellent value for money. Room was big, clean and warm on a cool evening. The sightseeing of the castle is included in the hotel rate! Breakfast was nice (also included in the rate). The park located next to the castle is a must visit..... beautifully designed and maintained with many old oak trees... truly an oasis.

nothing to do with the hotel itself, but if you are traveling before or after the summer season - do not expect much, hotel restaurant closes at 8pm, also any bars/restaurants in the city center, so there is nothing much to do after 8pm

Location. It’s a real castle in lovely small town. There is a nice restaurant inside the castle and great breakfast included with our room rate.

It was hard to figure out location of hotel and reception on the castle grounds. Would be nice to have clear directions to parking and reception.
