Very interesting concept. Huge renovated home to have six spacious ensuite units with a romantic feel. Large common areas both indoors and outdoor areas for lounging - away from the street view and noise (except the church bells). Common breakfast area. With a lock box at the door you can let yourself in and find ice-tea and a snack waiting for you. Included breakfast is fresh, plentiful and well presented - very pleasant host(s) are there to welcome you. Tip if staying there: park the car behind the castle before heading to the front door. (Parking is free and overnight is permitted.)

We were enchanted by this place, the communal spaces are so peaceful and we were lucky to have the entire place to ourselves. Listening to Amalia Rodrigues by the fire will stay with us for a long time. We met lovely Maria who kindly prepared our breakfast and accommodated our timings. We also met the host Sara, and we were pleased to hear the house has been in her family for over a century - they transformed the space preserving the essence so well. A truly delightful experience.

Everything was exceptional.

The location of the Guest House near to the Castle and 10 mins bus ride from the station was a key determinant in staying at Aljana. The spacious and well designed public areas were welcome. Breakfast was carefully prepared and delicious. The courtyard offered a relaxing option to enjoy the sound of swifts and house martins.

The bedroom was rather small and located on a mezzanine floor. OK for us but some guests may find the stairs difficult and the roped barrier to the ground floor disconcerting.

The setting the house the gardens and location are beautiful. The breakfast was outstanding!!

The rooms we were in were tiny and the stairs going up to the ‘bedroom’ (loft!) were very steep and inconvenient for 65-70 yr olds😀 There wasn’t room to open our cases (not big ones😀) but everything was beautiful. We booked a bigger room in square meters but when I called she said it’s a king bed not suite, although it definitely said meters. The older couple with mobility issues had problems to get up and down. I’m sure the other rooms are stunning - just make sure if get confined in small spaces or mobility problems

The location was adequate, near the castle, parking was convenient and cost-free. The common area was comfortable and nicely appointed. The breakfast was very good.

We were surprised that our unit (#7) had tight, steep stairs to the bed in a loft. The stairs can be precarious and guests should be advised this unit has that situation. I don't think the other rooms had a loft. The lower portion of the unit was very small and uncomfortable. The price for this unit was a little too high for what we got.

900 year old building, freshly renovated but with the old structure left intact. Great interior design. Wonderfully stylish! Fantastic breakfast! Super cool courtyard next to the cathedral. Best dinner in Beja available upon request (charcuterie board, needs to be ordered a few hours ahead).

Rooms in the main building are poorly soundproofed to the common areas/kitchen (where breakfast is prepared very early in the morning), bring ear plugs.

Impeccably run, tastefully designed conversion of a small historic building. Was a pleasure to stay there and learn of its family history from the owner. Worth taking them up on their offer to leave a cold supper of fruit, meats and cheeses if you are arriving late - beautifully presented. The breakfast was also the best we have had on our tour of Portugal with produce from the family farm and fresh baked bread. Highly recommended.

The design of the guesthouse it’s beautifully done. Everything’s designed wanting to make you feel home, with an extra touch of care. Our room was cozy, the bed was super comfortable. Handsoap, body was, body lotion, hair phone all included. We loved the design of the courtyard, the plants are beautiful and we could smell the lavender everywhere. The breakfast was delicious, a mix of homemade jam, mini croissants, mini pancakes and local cheese, freshly baked bread, abundant plate of fruits, coffee and fresh orange juice.. we couldn’t have asked for better stay!

Super nice boutique hotel, great spaces inside & outside. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Top location & awesome calm decoration.

The room had stairs & you need to walk up & down to get to your bed. Kids are allowed, which made our stay a bit unpleasant since they made a lot of noice and their toys were everywhere in the house (as if they were at home). Such a nice and quiet hotel should be for adults only.

Entering the hotel from the street was one of the highlights of our stay. The interior is serene, quiet, elegant. You walk through several common sitting areas inviting for a restful stay of reading and quiet talking. The common area connects through large glass doors to an inner courtyard with small tables, perfect for a romantic take-out dinner. Breakfast was out of the world. Beautifully arranged fruits and cheeses, variety of breads, freshy cooked eggs, Nespresso coffee and milk foamer - always great. Personal rooms are across the courtyard. They are small but since there are several common sitting areas and the courtyard to hang out this was not an issue for us. Mattress was very high quality and extremely comfortable. Beautiful and very clean bathroom.

My husband would like more comfortable chairs in room. Additional outlets for charging electronics would be convenient. I am not sure that the description addresses the fairly steep stairs to the bedroom area. This was not problem for us but possibly for older folks or folks with issues climbing stairs.
