Amazing place! Perfect location (albeit on a massive hill) but what do you expect being in Madeira 🤣 we loved that you had access to a rooftop pool and another massive pool complex on the ground floor with access to the sea! We loved how clean and comfortable the rooms were (would recommend an ocean view room). Staff were always very helpful and even booked us a taxi and had it waiting for 3.45am to head back to the airport. Breakfast was amazing massive selection and they changed it up everyday so you weren’t eating the same thing.

We loved the room, the pool next to the sea, and restaurants. We only thought the restaurant and breakfast was way too expensive. Loved the spa. Breakfast at the pool restaurant was not great and a bit small.

The prices of the food at the restaurant and breakfast. Lot of super old people. So didn’t feel like we belonged here as 29 year olds. No dogs. Breakfast is pretty late if you want to hike.

Lack of atmosphere in main lobby bar. Colour of tiles in swimming pool - Yellow/gold just doesn’t work, it needs blue/green mix to look clean and refreshing.

Very modern hotel with direct access to the sea. Lovely pool area and gorgeous rooftop bar. However it was a bit cold in the evening to enjoy a drink there. Lovely restaurant by the pool area. Lots of sun loungers and complimentary towels. Good size bedroom with large bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Great location,very close to the city centre and port. Lots of good restaurants close by.

Our bedroom was situated in the back of the hotel which led out onto a small alleyway. There were quite a few pedestrians walking by. The lighting in the bedroom and also the breakfast dining was very dim.

We travelled with our 7 months old son and stayed at NEXT hotel for a week in January. The hotel is just 20 minutes walk to the center and near by there are several pubs and restaurants and just 10 minutes walk away from a very well maintained park with sea and city view, perfect to take breaks with a crawling toddler. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant, room service is great, the bar and the pool area is high quality and well maintained but what made our stay even more pleasant was the professional yet friendly staff. Unfortunately we got sick during our holiday, and received the best support from the hotel. Very accommodating and well prepared for any of our requests.

Pool is perfect for adults to cool off after sun bathing. Unfortunately, the temperature of the pool was too cold for our son to bathe (approx 20 degrees).

The view from the sea-side balcony of our room. Very clean hotel. Good breakfast buffet. Nice pool from which you can also access the actual sea for a swim. Rooftop bar with great view and nice little pool. Complimentary bath towels are available at both pools. The old town of Funchal is a couple of miles away, but the vicinity of the hotel also offers plenty of restaurants and bars.

A large, very loud and visible airconditioning unit outside that also blocks part of the sea and pool view. The bathroom wall is made of partly see-through glass. This is especially awkward when you have to go to the bathroom at night and the bathroom light shines through the glass and lights up the whole hotel room. There's no real (fresh bean) coffee at breakfast, only some fast brown sludge. Also no fresh orange juice. Loud music in the hallways. The two hotel parkings are a bit small. The drinks are very expensive and by default include a 10% tip. The sea-side hotel pool is a bit small and has an ugly, sandy color. Particularly when compared to the two nicely colored blue pools of the resorts next to it. The possibility of swimming in the sea makes up for this, though.

Amazing views from rooftop pool area complete with outdoor bar - very convenient, a nice option separate from the main outdoor area. Having 2 separate spaces was a real bonus. We did absolutely love the option to get into the ocean directly and the large open area for snacks and cocktails surrounding that lower pool area was also spectacular. Location to old town with these amenities made it the perfect balance.

The lighting in the room could have been better. Difficult to use the mirror outside the bathroom once daylight passed because hallway lights were very dim - similar situation near the balcony, no good separate lighting in that particular area. It would have been incredibly convenient as well to have a hair dryer plug closer to the mirror outside the bathroom thus allowing for someone to shower with steam while their partner gets ready outside of the bathroom.

Location was nice, in a more upmarket section of Funchal surrounded with some great restaurants and bars. Rooms were lovely and spacious and even though we stayed in the most basic type. Lots of different sections to the hotel which is nice and can also use the other Savoy hotel facilities (e.g we went to Savoy Palace for a drink on their rooftop)

Our balcony was very small, couldn’t sit very comfortably however it did get the sun for most of the evening which was lovely. Breakfast could be improved, sausages and eggs etc are just a little bit weird, however there are plenty of options so that’s a plus! Also enjoyed the Prosecco at breakfast! Also, drinks in the hotel were quite expensive!

We had two rooms: a city suite and an ocean room and were very happy with both. The suite looked directly onto the Savoy Palace and had two small balconies. There was a Nespresso machine with pods (ask reception for milk) in a large lounge. The bed was huge and very comfortable - we slept really well in both rooms. Both rooms had overhead, waterfall showers with an additional hand held shower and were very clean. The ocean room had a nicer view (towards the pool) but a higher floor would have been better - we were on the third floor. It was noisy if the windows were open - the air con only works if these sliding windows are locked closed, which is great to reduce energy consumption. The ocean room had a small kitchen area (no Nespresso machine). It is a very modern hotel using apps but at times, it wasn't easy getting information. When the 'chat' help wasn't replying, a note on the phone to state the number for Reception would have been helpful - we were given info when we checked in but you can't remember everything after a day of travelling. The pool had fresh water, giving it a green colour. There were plenty of sunbeds with towels provided. There is a platform from which to step/jump into the sea and is great for snorkeling. The platform was rather ugly and I'm surprised that Next haven't improved the aesthetics of it, to be more in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Because the hotel is in two parts, there is a bridge (over the road) joining them. There is also a rooftop pool and bar in the main building which has a chilled out vibe. The breakfast was superb and the breakfast staff were extremely efficient. The Next hotel is ideally situated for walking into the Old Town - we were very glad we didn't have to trek up the hill to any of the other hotels! I would definitely stay here again.

Information to be readily available, e.g. explaining that the doors have to be locked shut to work, reception phone number, the chat function in the app to be answered in good time.

Well designed building and modern facilities but didn't like open wardrobes in rooms. Wonderful views from roof terrace and easy walk into town. Very clean and and queries delt with promptly. Breakfast was tasty and very well presented. Delicious lunch in pool restaurant.

There were TV screens with the sound off and a cartoon playing at breakfast Why? Also P.A system playing up tempo music too loud for my taste at breakfast. A few staff were a bit distant sometimes, lacked smiles and eye contact. Late check out not properly planned for ,so improvised. Husband ended up with a cold shower in pool changing room ,no towels provided, no hair dryer provided so reception lent me one to use in disabled toilet. Stressful ending to a lovely stay
