Slow and unreliable Wi-Fi, lack of bed type guarantee, short and unnecessary dining slots, long waiting time for room service (bathrobes and ironing board), awful coffee and orange juice in a country of oranges and great coffee - unacceptable

The swimming pool, the boardwalk, and the oceanfront location. The buffet meal plan is very good value. No smoking in the restaurant inside. The hotel is kept very clean.

Smoking is permitted on the terrace, unfortunately, and by the pool. It reminded us of when the airlines used to have a smoking section in the cabin = ridiculous. Breathing in the fresh ocean air is one of the attractions of a seaside vacation; inhaling second-hand smoke is not. We paid for a room with a sea view terrace. We couldn’t be out there when our neighbors lit up.

Amazing and huge public sandy beach right in front of the hotel. Great view from our room, which was also nice and big enough. Not many people and quiet at pre season. Hotel is very nicely designed with the exception of the restaurant. Great cafés and restaurants at the beach. Altough there have been a couple of no gos for me in the hotel, the above mentioned was so nice, that I would go there again. Important, pre or off season. I don’t know how it is in main season but I had the impression very crowded.

The food is average at best. The management needs to scan the market, what’s currently 4* standard when it comes to food. This is 3* at best. Selection is ok, coffee is terrible, buffet food was often lukewarm or cold. The restaurant shows the age of the place the most. 3* standard as well. But to be fair, the price for the stay was accordingly. The hotel has literally 3 parking spots. If they are taken, you can search for a free spot in the streets around. Good luck with that. During our stay the hotel was still in preparation for the main season. The restaurant terrace and the outside Indian restaurant were closed but this didn’t bother me much.

Location right on the beach. Our room with panoramic sea view. Having the sun loungers on our terrace was a huge, welcome bonus. The garden with sun loungers was fabulous and so peaceful. We were half board and the variety of food never got monotonous. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more warm, welcoming and helpful at the front of house and in the restaurant. we like to walk and the beach boardwalk, route to the lighthouse and the marina made each daily stroll interesting. We absolutely loved this hotel and highly recommend it to everyone.

Great location, right on the beach. Room was nice & spacious. It was cleaned daily. Food and drinks were good. It was a buffet for breakfast & dinner, good variety & quality.

At the check-in we were told we had to pick a shift:one of three times that we would go for breakfast & dinner. This got us off on to a bad start, we wanted to relax not worry about getting the right time for arrival. In the end we opted for a time but went when we wanted and there was never a problem. Always plenty of tables. I would advise the hotel team to stop doing this as it’s not needed & starts the holiday on the wrong footing. The pool area is small but the hotel is right on the beach and beds were €15 for two beds. Everything else about the hotel was good.

The AP Oriental in Portimao is an elegant, distinguished place that has helped us out of a very stressful year. The hotel is incredibly well decorated and everything seems to have been chosen with elegance in mind. The service, while sometimes a little slow, has been spotless and the environments, including the outside pool, garden and the passage down to Playa de Rocha are clean and well maintained. The food (we paid for half.board) was always tasty and prepared with care and, in the one week of our stay, never got boring. The choice of not accepting kids is an excellent one and allows guests to enjoy a peace and quiet that are rare to find on the Algarve riviera.

A few things could be improved: 1. The fan in the bathroom was quote noisy, although it could not be heard from the room if the door was closed. 2. It was baffling that the rich choice of sweets and cakes that we had for dinner was nowhere to be found as breakfast! 3. Some (not all) of the furniture in the room could use an upgrade. 4. The pool towels, while absolutely clean, looked quite old and grey instead of white.

Turned out our flights from the Azores Islands to Lisbon were scheduled in such a way that it became impossible for us to get to our hotel when initially intended, meaning we arrived one day late. We notified the hotel of this well in advance, and asked for the missing day to be tacked onto the end of our stay ... but the hotel was unfortunately fully booked, and we ended up having one less day than we had paid for. We hoped that the hotel would provide us with some form of compensation for the fact that we weren't there for one of the days we paid for, but we did NOT receive even a penny.

During our delightful three-night stay at AP Oriental Beach - Adults Friendly in Portugal, we experienced both the highs and lows of our vacation. On the positive side, the standout feature was undoubtedly the delightful dining experience. Breakfast and dinner were consistently perfect, offering a satisfying array of options that left us thoroughly satisfied. The presence of an outdoor pool added to the allure, providing a refreshing escape under the sun. The hotel's prime location overlooking Praia da Rocha and the Atlantic Ocean was a major highlight. Some of the rooms, including ours, provided breathtaking panoramic sea views, creating a serene and relaxing ambiance. The nearby beach access and proximity to Portimão Marina added to the overall convenience of the stay. Despite our room hiccup, the Restaurant Oriental's à la carte lunch menu and buffet dinner, along with the presence of cocktails and live music, contributed to an engaging and enjoyable dining experience. Exploring the vibrant center of Praia da Rocha, just a short walk away, was a delightful way to spend our evenings.

However, there were a couple of downsides to our stay. While the spacious balcony in our first-floor room offered a pleasant view, we were disappointed with the location due to the presence of an occasional sewage smell. This minor inconvenience detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay.

The hotel is lovely. The rooms and common areas are very clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly, dedicated in what they do and always willing to help. The food is varied and very good. At this hotel you will have an occasion to try the local dishes and delicious Portuguese products. The hotel is located at the sea and most of the rooms offer a stunning sea view. It is worth mentioning that at the hotel you can also find the oriental wellness offering spa treatments – a hidden gem where you can rejuvenate, relax or/and get rid of body aches and pains. Joanna – an amazing therapist offers a variety of treatments and makes sure they result in great effects! I really recommend this place. The pool's temperature during the daytime was a comfortable 22 degrees, making it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The ambiance of the hotel and its delightful scent added to the overall experience, creating a truly enjoyable atmosphere. I want to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent staff hospitality at your hotel. The sea view from our bedroom was breathtaking (although currently there were some preparations for the upcoming festival next weekend). The assistance provided to my husband for a surprise was exceptional. Thank you for creating a memorable experience for us.
