A trully five stars brand new hotel, located în a picturesque neighbourhood on a narrow medieval street, very close to the city center. The staff is really nice and helpful, always with a smile on the face. The breakfast consists of a good selection of chees, ham, homemade yogurt, cereals, eggs, fruits, fresh cakes and pastry. The bread is delicious, you can't stop eating it, take care, ladies! Our room had a nice view over the roofs. We were delighted to find pastry and porto wine upon arriving at the hotel, and fresh fruits in the room during our stay. We shall come back, not only for the lovely Porto, but for this special place. Obrigado!

The hotel and room was very stylish and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. The location was in easy walking distance up the hill behind or along the waterfront to sightseeing. The breakfast was brilliant and had a variety of options.

-The TV automatically kept turning on every 2 minutes or so. - We would have liked more information in the room about the local area and sightseeing. We found it on a small QR code as we were about to check out after being at the hotel for 3 days. -The breakfast was great but service was a little inconsistent with what kitchen options are available.

What did I like? Everything, really. The property has an historic feel to it with exposed limestone that is beautiful. My room had a balcony with a view towards the river. I loved being able to open the French doors and hear the nightlife of the city after a day of walking to see the sights of Porto. Returning to Hotel Das Virtudes for the evening was a pleasure. Since I was traveling alone, I often took my late dinners in their dining room where I was spoiled by their bar and dining staff. I had my best version of Portugal's signature dish, Bacalhau, at Virtudes, codfish ragout, pil-pil and, parsley. Rui Pedro and Polina made my delicious meals all the more pleasant because of their attention to detail; and Fabio and Simao served wine on their rooftop patio where I could journal and relax at the end of the day. Great views of the city up on the roof! If you are a breakfast person, their buffet was the best that I experienced during my 10 days in Portugal. Hotel Das Virtudes' front desk staff was also extremely helpful with walking directions, arranging taxis, and generally being attentive. Everything about my stay was quality and comfort. Ancient building skillfully brought back to life, now cradling a wonderful new hotel.

The hotel from my understanding was opened in May 2023 after 10 years of renovation from a 16th-century building. It is a very clean hotel with very friendly staff. The spacious bedroom with a balcony on the third floor gave us a view out onto the city. The hotel although approached via a narrow street was less than 5 minute's walk to the Douro River, about 15 - 20 minute walk to the river cruises and the famous Dom Luís I Bridge. It was all uphill into the city centre and to some of the recommended restaurants. Fortunately, it was downhill all the way back. The buffet breakfast was suitable for our needs. I would say the a la carte menu had a limited choice, was a bit rich for us and quite pricy. Overall a lovely hotel. Oh, I should mention the hotel has a roof terrace which is a bonus to sit outside to take in views of the city - especially at night.

The service was amazing- the entire team was friendly, responsive, and helpful beyond our expectations from the moment we walked through the door. My entire group was blown away. The restaurant was excellent, and the rooftop was the perfect location to enjoy an amazing sunset view with a nice glass. We also loved the design, incorporating the historic walls of the original building, maintaining the charm of the city while still delivering on all the modern comforts. The location is close to everything, while being a little tucked away, out of the fray of crowds and noise. I'm recommending Hotel das Virtudes to EVERYONE

Incredible historical rehab of a beautiful building, with all the modern comforts and amenities inside. Rooftop bar and our room balcony both had great views. Breakfast was tasty and the lunch menu was good too. The staff was extremely attentive and professional. They really went above and beyond to help us out a few times. Overall an excellent experience

Location was good because it was easily walkable to places, though the entrance is tucked away from main roads (ubers would not drop us at the door). Porto is generally walkable but you have to be ready for hills either way, so I wouldn't say this was a dealbreaker, as long as you know what to expect

The staff were immensely kind and professional. Always opening the doors, helping with suitcases, any kindly and intelligently answering any questions regarding Porto and the surrounding areas. They were dependable and able to speak many languages. The breakfast was also very nice, the hotel immensely clean, and all very new and operating well.

I wasn't aware when booking that the hotel is located more toward sea level compared with the rest of Porto and center city. I was traveling with my 70+ year-old mom, and she's in great shape, so we were able to climb the hills and steep inclines necessary when leaving the hotel to go into town, but for families with kids or elderly, please consider this before booking. Also, while my mom and I were there, there was a concert series on the weekend, which played loud music until about 11:45pm -- so worth inquiring about any summer concerts. Otherwise, the hotel is located in a quieter area.

Breakfast buffet offerings were beyond wonderful. Selection was plentiful even considering dietary limitations. All in all your staff were absolutely attentive, pleasant and very knowledgeable. All staff went above and beyond the call including answering questions about local history and recommendations for tours and restaurants. We felt very welcomed and taken care of.

Portugal (and your hotel) had what appeared to be the best of sweets however due to a dairy intolerance most were inaccessible to me. If at all possible, a dairy free choice or two at your buffet would be lovely.

In one word - wow ! I've walked around the hotel and wow is all that I could say. They thought about each and every small detail - the elevator, the shower, the tapet on the wall, the design, the comfortable mattress. And the breakfast!! So rich and tasty with a wide selection. Im working with nutrition and usually its hard for me to find tasty healthy food but they had options for everything and everyone. The staff is absolutely wonderful, each of them was always kind and helpful. I highly recommend and hope to come back again !
