The bed was comfortable. The architecture was perfectly “old world”. The check-in staff were polite and efficient. The gift shop is fabulous with objets d’art ranging from 10€ to 62K €. The restaurant evening meal was delicious though a bit slowly paced at 2 1/2 hours for 3 courses.

The breakfast hot items were cool to cold 2 of 3 days. The juices were watered down and the larger coffee machine delivered a coffee/hot chocolate mix instead of the labeled cappuccino. The smaller bean-to-cup machine was far better. We were 6 couples. They were all placed on the 3&4th floors with far larger rooms and views. The booking.com room was beside the elevator on a mezzanine floor. Comfortable but we felt like the black sheep.

The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of food and drink. I particularly liked the yoghurt being served in a large bowl, rather than small pots, butter twirls rather than small containers and milk in bottles. The hot buffet was very good.

Both my wife and I felt that the atmosphere of the hotel was rather sterile. This may be because it was quite quiet.

Charming historical building mixed with modern design. Gym and spa were great too, and the hotel has a beautiful art gallery and lounge space with a piano. Hotel was kind to let us play the piano too! Room was big, comfortable and clean.

Breakfast could be better, I personally found the coffee average and thr machine makes it sweetened it seems, and the pastries were too salty. In my opinion, breakfast could see some improvements, but this doesnt deter much from the overall experience which was excellent.

I found the slightly gloomy, silent and solid legacy of the former hospital a little off-putting (my husband not so). A few brighter pictures on the walls and more colourful decor would help (instead of images of the building pre- and during reconstruction. We were also very disappointed with the service at dinner on our first night which was slow and things were not cleared away promptly after each course.

For a hotel of this level , I was disappointed to find some of the comforts one assumes as standard at other, comparable hotels to be missing now.. Complimentary drinking water was only provided on day one. Thereafter, it was charged at €3 pee bottle and yet, there were chocolates on the bed daily. I would rather have the water. There are no dressing gowns provided The tea and coffee facilities are not replenished daily, are very limited and very poor quality.

Limited space outside reception to off-load luggage. Car parking area is down a steep cobbled drive. Area around hotel is a mixture of very rundown and modern buildings. Long queues at Check-In.

A magnificent pousada with a very successful blend of old and modern. The service was excellent, the room extremely comfortable, and all the facilities excellent. Breakfast presented a very good variety and the service was efficient and attentive. The food in the restaurant was very good (compliments to the chef). The pousada within easy walking-distance to the centre of the city. We enjoyed a very pleasant 5-day stay, which was a high mark on our trip.

The old hospital is beautifully converted into the hotel and is near the old city centre. Good free outdoor parking on site. The reception was nice. The superior room on the top floor we had is comfortable and has a balcony with nice views over the town. We had a delicious meal with well prepared shared dishes very well served by friendly and professional Maria Pinto.

The castle-like hotel is located in the center of the quiet city and on a higher spot. The internal courtyard looks not only vintage but also elegant. The room is spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is superb, with several special dishes with either local character or the royal tradition.

The indoor swimming pool is not convenient enough.
