Prior to my arrival, I had good correspondence with the front desk about taxis and other queries. The hotel is a short walk from the centre of town with a quiet stretch of beach in front of it. The breakfasts were amazing with so much choice and the staff here were all lovely. I went to the spa on my last day and wish I had gone sooner as it was so relaxing and I had a very chilled time. Again, the staff were great. I ate at the restaurant on the beach a few times, it's a nice location and the food was ok.

Unfortunately I found the person that checked me in to be off hand and rude. It wasn't a good welcome and as it was my first stay at a Hilton, did not shine a good light on the Hilton brand. Another time, when I asked if I could get some toiletries that were missing from my room, another person at the front desk did not seem at all attentive and my request was not met. I ended up leaving a note in my room for housekeeping. Other members of staff at the front desk were fine and I had no problem but I do wonder if some of the staff need further training in hospitality to meet at least 3 star plus standards. I hasten to add, staff around the rest of the hotel were great.

Wonderful pool area and the food at the inclusive buffet restaurant was incredible! Nice little bar on site as well with live music in the evenings. They have a restaurant right on the beach as well so you can dine listening to the sea. Happy hours every day from about 4-7!

Not enough sun umbrellas. There were only a few for many sun loungers and when we asked for one we were told they hadn’t any more. As the sun is so strong this could be an issue for pale skinned folks like me! Hopefully the hotel will be getting some more in future!

Clean, large rooms, very green and lush garden area, great pool, close to the best part of the beach and 5 mun walking distance from the centre. Loved the spa, amazing massage, great gym.

Quite expensive, and terrible food for the price. They definitely need a new chef.

Clean, spacious, modern. Room exactly like the pictures. Very clean (even though I saw one cockroach in mine but that’s not bad considering the local ecosystem). Beautiful and well maintained property as a whole. Lots of places to sit, lounge, and relax. Great internet connection - the best I’ve experienced. Pool area was perfect. Right amount of deck chairs with shade and the pool was lovely, and a nice depth. There’s a longer shallower bit too. But if you’re more of a sea person it was literally a 2 min walk behind the property. Amazing beach, again with plenty of areas to lounge on chairs, and a lovely Beach restaurant. Breakfast was immense. So much selection of various foods and drinks catering to various kinds of styles. Exactly what you would want. All staff were impeccably courteous. Truly the best I’ve encountered. Very helpful, patient, friendly and polite. From reception to waiters to cleaners to the security. And it came across genuine not just because it was their job. Perfectly located. About a 20min drive from the airport for €15-20. Short 10-15 min walk to Santa Maria - very convenient. If not, taxis regularly available. €3 back and forth to Santa Maria during the day. After 6pm €4 to go to Santa Maria, €5 to come back to the Hilton. I would visit again at this time of year. In a peak month the experience might not be the same as it was just the right amount of people and it was quite busy as it was. But a truly a fab experience overall. Thank you.

We were really pleased with our choice of accommodation. Spacious, quiet and just the right amount of guests around. Great facilities and location. Easy walk to town, perhaps 15 min away. The pool area was great but the hotel is also right by the beach so you could easily alternate between both. Plenty of sunbeds available at the beach and the Hilton's Bounty Beach Restaurant right there too. The reception staff was lovely at all times. Also really enjoyed the Spa facilities and treatments on offer. The room was very spacious, comfortable and loved the bed.

I think the breakfast options could be improved, nothing wrong with it but was expecting more. I understand this can be influenced by the fact most products need to be imported to the island. Nonetheless, it's just a matter of preference. Would have liked a more thorough cleaning in the room, specifically the floor because of sand. The staff in the breakfast area and housekeepers weren't as friendly or approachable.

We go to the Hilton Sal annually because we like it so much, the location is perfect, it’s very clean and the grounds are very well maintained. The food is good and the staff are very helpful.

The pool could do with having a proper shallow end and be a little warmer… the gala dinner on Christmas & New Years Eve is vastly overpriced! And although the kids club has vastly improved from last year and although it’s not specifically a hotel designed for children it wouldn’t do any harm to out on some occasional entertainment for them in the evening…

Beautiful location on the best part of the Santa Maria beach. Excellent breakfast with very good options. Very nice pool and a lot of sunbeds. Very good beds. Absolutely recommend to try the tapas on Bar Cize, definitely best value for money food in the hotel restaurants!

Some of the staff could have smiled more, seemed almost a bit grumpy. The pool bar was a bit understaffed during the lunch time and definitely understaffed for the happy hour as the wait for the drinks was sometimes half an hour.

Staff was absolutely AMAZING!! Everyone was always super nice and very helpful from reception, to breakfast, to pool bar and beach restaurant! Thank you so much!! The hotel is beautiful, full of green areas, huge pool, comfy sun beds. Food was alright, everything very overpriced but it’s Hilton and more than expected to be this way. The beach is just in front of the hotel, with white sand and water is warm. There is the water activities center on the beach where you can book diving, snorkeling, kitesurfing, water bikes, kayaking, SUP, etc. Staff was very nice there and can speak Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Criolo. My friend is celiac and needed gluten free food, the hotel was great accommodating this, for breakfast she always had gluten free bread, croissants, cakes, etc; they French fries are done separately and they also had gluten free bread for burgers. You can easily walk to Santa Maria city through the walking area behind the beach, it’s about 10minutes, you will find a supermarket on the way too. You can also book the day trip to the island and the turtle night trip at the hotel reception (35€), if you book with people you find in the street it will cost 25€. We absolutely loved the week we spend at Hilton!

Best hotel of Sal, possibly of all of Cabo Verde. You feel like in absolute paradise in and around the hotel. If you can afford it, it's an absolute must when staying in Sal. Incredibly green, no insects, incredible pool and surroundings.

However, keep in mind that Sal feels a bit like a "fake" holiday island, mainly exploited by Tui, especially when comparing it to other Cabo Verde islands. Some employees were extremely nice and proficient in building a good relationship with guests, but 90% of staff is very distant and therefore appears unfriendly. Unclear as to why.

Absolutely everything! This hotel is perfect and worth the money. The whole experience goes beyond our expectations. The room, the comfort, the view, the facilities, the pool, the restaurants, the bar, the beach restaurant, the hotel beach, the breakfast and most importantly: the staff! Absolutely everyone working in this hotel with whom I spoke with is very nice, always with a smile and makes everything smooth and nice. Big hug to Doreen with the towels in the pool, Steve, Ricardo, Edi and the guys from the pool bar, Tiago and the staff from the beach bar, Patricia from customer relations and everyone else. I would risk to say this is the best hotel in Santa Maria.

The water in the pool is not heated so a bit cold end of February. Food is a bit pricey but hey its the Hilton.
